The I Love BWV (yes, Hallways and Clown Pool too!) Thread

Then there is a staircase near the end of the boardwalk view rooms which exits on the pool/garden view room side of the building in the area called the Activity Lawn, and once outside you can quickly walk around the building and enter the boardwalk near Atlantic Dance. When we have a boardwalk view room near the end of the boardwalk view area, we often get off the boat after leaving Studios at the Swan/Dolphin boat station (the first stop on the return trip), which is right next to a bridge over which you can walk to BWV near Atlantic Dance and use that staircase to get to your room.
This is super helpful advice, thanks!

There are actually no exists from the boardwalk view rooms directly to the boardwalk. A usual way to the boardwalk is via the elevators fairly near the lobby (the only elevators on the BWV side) which you take to the ground floor and exit in the Luna Park pool area but quickly walk through a tunnel that takes you to the courtyard by Wyland Galleries and then you just continue to the boardwalk itself. There is also a staircase from the lobby itself that takes you down to the courtyard area near Wyland.

What about the stairway near the x049 rooms that ends by the tunnel, as CarolynFH mentioned? You can’t enter the building using that stairway but you can use it to exit. I used it all the time when we stayed in 2049.
There is also a stairway around the corner from the big windows midway down the hallway of BW view rooms. That one lets you exit/enter from the pool area and avoid going all the way to the elevators.

At the end of the boardwalk view rooms closest to the lobby there is a stairwell that comes out right by the Wyland Galleries (or what used to be - is that still there?) You can exit however you cannot get back in at that door as I recall but can at all other stairwells I've used.

Yes the stairways mentioned in the above two posts are there (temporarily forgot about those) the one midway down the boardwalk view rooms hallway and one near Wyland. As I am usually on a the fourth or fifth floor (high floor is my usual request) I seldom use those in favor of the elevator. Using the one mid-way down to get to the boardwalk is not much shorter than just going to the elevators since you have to still walk to the tunnel which is close to the elevators to get to the courtyard and then to the boardwalk, and thus the walking distance from room is close to the same. I generally do not use the one by Wyland because it is not far from the elevators that we prefer using.

2 bedrooms book fairly quickly and sometimes they are VERY hard to get. When in 2025 are you going?
September. I'll be online at 11 months at whatever time we can book online reservations. If anything, I'll book the 1 bedroom and studio separately.

How hard is it to get a 2 bedroom villa at 11 months? Planning way ahead for 2025.
Standard view and Boardwalk view are the most difficult because there are relatively few of each. P/G view is easier. As above, September is a little easier than other months, and if you're online at 8 AM Eastern you have a good chance of getting at least a P/G view.

It's the studio part of the 2BR that's the issue - all BWV 2BR are lockoffs, so when all studios are gone, all 2BR are gone. There are some dedicated studios, but if the 2BR are gone, that means all the dedicated studios and the lockoff studios are booked. So hopefully you'll be able to book your 2BR!

If by some chance you end up booking a 1BR and a studio separately, don't count on them being connected to each other! And if you do book them separately, chat/email/call MS, give them both confirmation numbers, and ask them to place a "traveling with" note on both reservations, and don't make any other requests. That lets the room assigners know to put you as close together as possible. No guarantees, but hopefully you'd at least be on the same floor/same wing! I would chat or email as soon as I booked the two reservations, just to be sure I didn't forget.

I'm banking this years points and hoped to only need my 2 years worth of points and stay standard but I'm prepared to borrow from my 2025 points to cover the preferred rooms if that's our only option.

I will definitely aim to book the 2 bedroom as is because I want the rooms connected. I'll also be booking an additional studio - big family trip.

My waitlist for two nights at a standard view studio came through for the beginning of December so we are going to take two nights off the front of our GFV stay to stay at BWV!

Y'all totally steered me in the right direction with our first DVC stay in May (a few pages back in this thread) in recommending the Village Green area when we had that view and we so totally fell in love with this resort that we bought a small contract that just closed a couple of weeks ago. This is definitely our last one (I've said that before :D).

Anyhoo, what should I request for a standard view studio? I re-read this thread from page 60 and haven't seen any tips on standard studios. The order of importance are: view, high(er) floor, close to lobby. I have watched a few YouTube videos on which standard rooms to request and it kind of looked to me that a high floor (not third floor) facing the skyliner wouldn't be too bad? There was a blogger who recommended to stay away from rooms ending in 71 or 73.

Frankly, I trust all of you a lot more than the above-mentioned vloggers/bloggers so what do you experts think I should put in for a request?

Thank you for all your help!

The stay away from 71 and 73 dates back to when there was BAGS handling luggage which started very early in the mornings. There's probably still activity in that area but I'd be doubtful it's anywhere near what it used to be. My nephew and wife had one of those rooms a few years ago and didn't comment about it being bad and that is when there still was ME and BAGS.

Have you used touringplans room finder to see some of the views for yourself? I'm not certain if it falls under their pay section or not but here's a link: Touringplans room finder BWV

Thank you! I did look around on that site. I guess I am just not sure how to phrase a request. I really enjoyed the view from room 4085 which looked out at the skyliner. I think I will request: Open balcony, floor 4 or 5, rooms 4079, 4081, 4085 or 5079, 5081, 5085. Does this sound good?

It sounds fine. Be aware BWV has a reputation for not being great at filling requests although I've had the opposite of that over the years and it's probably been the best in my case.

If you look at this map (scroll down to the one showing room numbers) you’ll see that the section you’re talking about is not very long, and pretty much all the Standard view villas have a nice Skyliner view - https://www.wdwinfo.com/maps/BoardWalkMap.pdf. I think that the simpler the better and more likely to be filled, so I’d just request Open Balcony, 4th or 5th floor.

I was just in 5073. The view of the skyliner was nice, and there were no problems with the room -- until 4 am this morning when I found out the neighbors' toilet had flooded and there was water in my room. I was moved into one of the renovated rooms on the hotel side. I think at least six rooms had to be moved.

There have been so many reports of flooding at BWV due to plumbing issues! I hope they allowed time (and Capital Reserves budget, unfortunately for us owners) to fix (replace) the pipes while they have the walls open.

I hope so too! We have stayed on the villa side at Boardwalk at least a dozen times and fortunately have never had an issue, but I hear about it so often that I feel like it's only a matter of time until it's our turn. I would love to know if this is being addressed during the renovations.

I know that the renovation on the Inn side and the one on the Villa side are probably very different, but on a recent stay on the Inn side in a refurbished garden cottage, I was very unimpressed. It was kind of shoddy in many ways too numerous to list. For one thing, I was expecting totally new bathrooms but this wasn't the case. The first time I got in the shower I saw lots of mold and realized that not only didn't they replace the tile or the shower doors, they didn't even redo the grout. We had a full bathroom plus a powder room. One had a new toilet and the other had a very old one. Point being, I'm quite certain no one got a good look at the pipes during the refurb on the Inn side. I hope the work on the Villa side is more comprehensive.
