The "I gotta do something to pass the time"pre-trip report

Continued ......DAY 3

We made it back to our resort and I laid down on the very small bed to rest and DH decided he wanted to watch a little t.v. so he laid down on the other small bed ......guess what I fell asleep and didn't have to worry about being shoved out of bed. We both dozed and woke up at 5:00pm got up and headed out to catch the bus to go to my anticipated MVMCP.
The wait was the longest so far 35 minutes got to MK only to find it had a long line waiting for everyone to have their carry ins checked out. Then when we entered the park it was PACKED the street was lined with people that hadn't left the park and weren't there for the party waiting on the parade. We finally worked our way through the crowd to head over to see the first Christmas show only to find it was full 45 minutes before it was time for it. So we decided to head over to watch the other Christmas show only to be told again it was full and at both shows people were already waiting for the next shows. We attempted to see the second show time only to be told again they were full. We walked around and finally decided to try some hot chocolate and a cookie mind you we have only ate breakfast but have forgotten to eat lunch and neither one of us was hungry to eat dinner. We then decide we will try and get to see the second parade

We got stuck on the bridge area for almost an hour (no joking) with no one being able to move because everyone lining up for the parade.
I got my left foot ran over by a scooter and my right heel rammed by a stroller. I have never in my whole life seen so many motorized scooters or strollers ,it looked as if there was a wheelchair/stroller/scooter convention going on now mind you I work in the medical field one that does deal with people that need these to get around but come on . I also found that most of them were rude and didn't care if you were in their way.
I also have an implant(pacemaker unit) in my right hip and it can be quite sensitive if hit well it was hit more times than I can tell you. I actually was bruised the next day from all the shoving and elbowing being done on that bridge to no where.

We finally make it through and got see and smell something besides the rear of the person in front (I'm short) That truly was a magical momment.

As we are walking we see a roped off area and are told by a sweet CM to find a spot behind the ropes as they were going to stop letting people in that area. She pointed to this one area.:cheer2:

...yeah we find a spot..rope is up and people are lined up andthere is a gap enough room for at least a couple more people to get in under the rope and see some of the parade..at this point I'll settle seeing some to not seeing none of it.
We ask the man in front of us(just to be nice...even though we are not suppose to save spots in line or at parades:rolleyes1 ) if the spot was being saved since their seemed to be an open area....he proceeded to tell me NO....but that we couldn't stand there...WHAT:confused3 ..then he says we just got our baby (who is in a stroller) asleep and he didn't want us waking him up..again...WHAT:confused3 . Mind you everyone around the parade waiting line is crowded and talking not to mention that when the parade starts in 20 minutes it will not be quiet.:confused3
Well right there and then my Pixie Dust ran out and I proceeded to look him in the eyes and lifted up the rope and told my DH to follow me. After several dirty looks from MR. DO NOT WAKE UP MY BABY I smiled at him and said isn't Disney World a wonderful place to be able to celebrate the season with people from all over the world who came for the same reason as you and that is to enjoy themselves and make it a magical place for not only yourelf but for those you meet.MERRY CHRISTMAS. Several people around me snickered which only made MR.RUDE to huff.
Another young couple was passing by and trying to find a spot also and tried to get in under the roped off area on the other side of MR. RUDE only to be told that the couldn't by non other than quess who??
They started to move away when I stopped them and let them squeeze in beside DH and I told them they could stand with us but in very loud voice I commented that we had to be quiet as we were not allowed to make any noise for fear of waking the baby. They found that as funny as we did.It was their first time at Disney and were on their honeymoon.
Mind you it was not the best view of the parade looking between armpits of those in front of you (I'm short and dear hubby is not able to put a Pooh sized wife on his shoulders:eek: ) But we at least got in some of the parade.
After the parade we also tried to get spots to see the Castle stage show it again was so packed and noisey that from where we were you couldn't hardly see or hear it.

By now I wasn't needing to wait to see Disneys fireworks I was seeing some of my own. BTW we did see those. We then decided to leave and go back to the resort.
Wait on the bus was again about 30 minutes and packed. But that I expected. Everyone on the bus was complaining abou how horrible the MVMCP experience was.

So let's sum this up we payed $100.00 plus to participate in the 5 Christmas activities to only be able to see the parade through armpits and had to squint to see the stage show but hey we did get 2 cups of hot chocolate and 2 cookies. Alot of bruises, sore foot that did hurt for several days,a heel that was scrapped of its skin which made wearing tennis shoes the next couple of days also painful and not to mention a banged up hip that has a medical unit.

We made it back to the resort only to find ourselves sore, upset and just realising that we hadn't ate any thing other than breakfast and 2 cookies. But too tired and really not hungry to do anything about it.
I was ready to snuggle down for a night of very tight spooning.

With the thoughts of tomorrow has great to be better. After all everything up until tonight has been going great.

Wow, i'm sorry to hear that your experience of MVMCP sucked so much :( Funny how some people have to travel to get to that particular state of mind where they will be rude to total strangers in the supposedly most magical place on earth! :confused3

You should have run him over with his own stroller :lmao:

i have to say that this part really made me laugh:

We finally make it through and got see and smell something besides the rear of the person in front (I'm short) That truly was a magical momment.

You really make my day, Vickey

Like I said we had a wonderful vacation other than the MVMCP..it is just I had so many expectations for that night. And it was totally sold out to the point that even the CM's were complaining and telling us that they had never seen it that crowded.

I have to admit I almost put him to sleep like his baby.:rolleyes1

Disney has some really wonderful smells(like the bakery on Main Street and the pretzel carts) but those smells that night were not so magical.:sad1::eek:

DH and I have been busy today looking up Cruises for Nov-Dec. and we are leaning towards a 7 day Western Carribean Disney Cruise. Sea only. Maybe add on a couple days after at WDW and Universal. But I really have always wanted to go on a cruise and DH doesn't like water but seems excited about it. Gotta love that man:love:

I am going to our AAA agent tomorrow to find out more info.:woohoo:

Our Mickeysmyboy is in Disney as we post I do hope she is having a great
time.

And you and Jess will be there soon.:yay:

i know, it's getting so close! One month from now we'll be most of the way through our very first day (at the Magic Kingdom) and anxiously awaiting dinner at Kona! (That's probably the meal i'm looking forward to the most).

Work has been soooo busy over the holidays i've hardly been thinking about Disney except when i'm actually on the DIS... i only remembered last night about making my LGMH tags.

Please tell us more about your trip when you have time!

DAY 4 WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 10th

By the time we got back to our resort and into our room it was 1:00am. We decided not to have a wake up call. To get up when we want or can move our badly beaten-knocked around abused bodies up.
I stayed in bed till 7:30am:woohoo: and Dh slept in till 8:00am we got up and caught the bus over to MK and then took the monorail.
My plan for the day was to visit the resorts and see the Christmas decorations.:cloud9:
We have a ressie for Spirit of Aloha at 5:15pm. At the Polynesian.
By the time we got to the Contemporary and looked around we were hungry and we have all these DDP counter meals and haven't used any so far.
We have lunch in their food court...we both ordered hamburgers and fries...my dessert was a coconut cheesecake muffin and DH had the black forest muffin, they were HUGE. The food was good. The CM that worked in the food court was so sweet and she gave us alot of info.
We had yet to run across an unhappy CM everyone so far has been so kind and accommodating.
After eating and stuffing ourselves yet again... there seems to be a pattern here:confused3

We proceeded to Grand Floridian to see the Gingerbread House and Boardwalk...loved the decorations and the resorts were so beautiful. I checked out every inch of these resorts for future info.
I also read about the Basin shop and stopped in to take a look while in there I bought a sampling bag of their glycerin soaps theses are so neat they are clear with decorations in he soap (such as the peppermint scented one had a candy cane shape in the middle) the lilac one had flowers in the middle..etc.
After exploring the resorts the time was getting away from us and I was tired so we decided to try and take a break back at the resort but first I tried to call and change our ressie time for SOA for the later time but unfortunately they were booked full..which worked out for the better as you will find out .

We got back to the resort only to be able to take a 45 minute break before heading to the Poly on the way back on the sidewalk I found a trading pin Mission Space one ....I looked around to see if anyone was around that could have lost it but didn't see anyone so I WISHED it on my DH who has taken quite a liking to these little money magnets.:sad2:

We make it to Spirit of Aloha,we got front seating in front of the stage ,even through we payed for the less tier. The servers were nice and very quick to get anything we needed. The food was okay nothing outstanding. The show was we really liked and when it came time to announce birthdays and such our server had announced our anniversary(again we were wearing our buttons) and had a special dance for all celebrating their special days so DH and I got to dance while they sang a Hawaiian song to us.
Over all it was a nice time and am glad that we did it.Cost would have been $113.97 but we had DDP
We walked around afterwards and took in the decorations. I am loving every resort we have seen so far.
We have viewed AK Lodge liked this alot loved those animals., would love to stay here some day. Contemporary was okay not much for decorations and don't think it is somewhere I'd stay. Grand Floridian what can I say it was decorated beautifully and very classy place what is that not to love but don't know if it is as high on my wish list...Boardwalk also very nice. But both my DH and I loved the Polynesian the grounds is what we loved. We would definitely stay here. I enjoyed looking at the little gingerbread houses that the children made and had on display.

It was still early and we decided to head to DTD even though I had this planned for another day..Got there and right away I see it......... My Mr. Potato Head store.:yay: I run to the store and leaving my DH in a cloud of smoke. He yells out I will wait outside on the bench and wait on you, I yell back okay see you in about 15 minutes. I collect and love my MPH's but was on :cloud9: when I saw what all they had to offer. I had planned on getting an (All you can fill box). But came out 2 hours later:guilty: with the HUGE plastic MPH filled to the top with body parts and the store CM was so sweet that she even let me add some parts in the bag that just wouldn't fit in the plastic MPH such as the bottom to Buzz Light year and a couple larger parts. While I was in there my DH decided to check out the trading pin store
He has just starting collecting these like i said and bought 3 that night.
Now there is just one more store I need to go in The Christmas Store we went in (DH went with me I think so I wouldn't spend 2 hours in there:rolleyes1 ) We found several ornaments that we both liked. One was like the one we bought 5 years ago but in a different style. It looks similar to a Lenox ornament with Mickey and Minnie in a sleigh but the one we bought this year is Mickey and Minnie kissing under a mistletoe. Plus we found several more that night (there is more to this story later)

Walked around and by 10:30 we decided to go back to our resort.

CONTINUED DAY 4

Again bus wait time wasn't too bad. I was worried about this after seeing how crowded the parks were. There was definitely some :tinker: pixie dust being used on these buses. In our room by 11:00pm. I showered and then decided to sort the laundry so I could do it early in the morning since they were calling for morning/afternoon showers.
Then since I couldn't sleep I played with Mr. Potato Head. Dh had fallen asleep in the other bed (the one that had been calling my name the last 3 nights) He looked so comfortable I didn't have the heart to wake him:guilty: :rolleyes1 So guess what I did????What any LOVING wife would do I ever so gently covered him up with the extra blanket (I had asked Housekeeping to deliver the first night). Even though we share the same bed I don't share my blanket I have to have my own.
I crawled into the small bed that we had both been sharing and fell asleep. Woke up at 5:00am and was in the middle not on the edge of the bed:cool1:

DAY 5......THURSDAY....DECEMBER 11th

Slept so good...Even though I missed my spooner it felt good to be able to move in the bed without fear of being bumped out.
Woke up and layed in bed till 7:00am and got the laundry together and headed to the laundry room, it was cloudy and looking like rain any minute....I lucked into getting in the laundry room right before everyone decided to do the same thing. DH joined me and went and got us some breakfast from the food court and we ate it outside the laundry room while our clothes were drying. We had the breakfast platter and an apple turnover. It was pretty filling and good.
The weather outside was not so delightful it was getting darker and darker . Our laundry done we took it back to room and decided to gather up our poncho's(those do come in hand we never go on vacation anywhere without them.) And go on to Epcot.
The weather station had a tornado warning out but we figure what the hey. We're from Ohio:confused3
Got to Epcot around 9:30am and even though there were people there they didn't want to venture out in the rain that had decided to finally come and come it did it was pouring.
We started over in Future World first.Rain wasn't going to keep us from doing Disney.

Sorry have to finish this later got to check on a patient just got an emergency call

A rough couple of days....One of my patients(she's 94) took a major fall and hit her head...so she needed 24 hour observation. She is black/blue/and purple but doing okay. God love her she has short term memory and dementia and forgets that she is unsteady on her feet and her little legs give out on her. But I can see myself being just as stubborn in my old age too. Then just as I was leaving another one of my patients had a melt down and it took about 6 hours to get her calmed down enough for her meds to even kick in.

Continued.....DAY 5

We are in Future World and it is Pouring down rain. We have our ponchos on and enjoying watching everyone hide from the rain. :thumbsup2
Mind you we still have tornado warnings out and it is cloudy and dark. But it's Disney so onward to our first stop ...
Spaceship Earth we got a kick out of this it had changed since we rode it last. Watching our future selves was so funny. No lines ,no wait time walked right on.
We proceeded to manage getting in Mission Space which again surprised me that DH rode it ( he rode it several times more later in the week)Of course we did the GREEN team. If we had did the ORANGE team we'd have been green.
We got in The Seas with Nemo and Friends... but one of the highlights of the day was seeing Turtle Talk which we loved and got in The Circle of Life,Living with the Land, but we bypassed Honey I Shrunk the Audience we didn't think we could sit through it again (we have seen it every time we've gone to Disney) enough is enough.
Now for the other highlight of the day and the best we got on Soarin, it was iffy rather my DH would ride this one too but like I have stated there was alot of Pixie Dust on this trip because he rode more rides this trip then he has in the 32 years of our marriage. It was awesome.

The rain let up to just a drizzle around 1:00m and the sun came out around 2:00pm and the rain stopped and the crowds were picking up. Tornado warnings expired.
After walking around for awhile and taking everything we could in we made our way over to The World Showcase it is around 4:30pm and we are getting hungry since we had breakfast early this morning while doing the laundry we decided we would check in and see if Biergarten could change our ressie to an earlier time (we had a 6:15 pm ressie) they got us in with in 15 minutes so we got seated at 5:10pm and was seated with an older couple from Florida that were there for the day celebrating her birthday and three gentlemen from Illinois everyone at our table had a really nice time very pleasant company made for a nice evening. Our waiter was by far the best we had all week his name was Anton. The buffet was okay,($69.74 plus tip ,we used our DDP) entertainment was good. But again we were enjoying the company of our table guests more.
Our waiter saw our Anniversary buttons and surprised us when they announced it and sang in German to all those celebrating. We said our good by to our guests and made our way through the other Countries.
Since I had a plan and a map in hand I wanted to start at the beginning and do each one as we came to it.
So after back tracking we are in Mexico and riding the Gran Fiesta Boat and checking out the stores.
Norway.... we rode Malestrom, checked out more stores and got to see our first Christmas story. Passed by Kringla bakery had to see what school bread was but didn't buy any we were too full from our meal saying we'd come back(never did get to try the school bread)
China,Italy,....went in the stores, but missed seeing any Christmas stories.
We made our way to Japan hoping to see the candy lady but had no luck maybe next trip.
Morocco,France and United Kingdom we store hopped but when in Canada we did the O'Canada show (another one of those things that once was enough for me)
Now it is getting late and we have plans for Illuminations we get in and find great seats. It is chilly in the 60's and I of course listened to DH that morning saying we shouldn't need anything other than our light weight jackets and ponchos that morning so I was a little chilly. But again we enjoyed this.
After this let out we walked around and that is when I saw my next big spend I got the Christmas Precious Moments Couple Dolls they were in a wreath in a velvet red box. I love my Precious Moments dolls. I wanted the Cinderella and Tinkerbell ones but they were sold out due to the artist being there signing the earlier in the day. DH got himself a couple more trading pins.

We are tired and all walked out my body is still sore from MVMCP so we head back to the resort. DH says he is a little hungry and we have all our snack credits (12) and 10 counter credits that we had yet to use and it is day 5. So he gets a double cheeseburger, fries and since he didn't get a drink they allowed us to get 2 muffins (these are HUGE) we saved the muffins for another day. ($12.49 but used our DDP)
Took it back to our room and DH went to get his resort mug to refill when we noticed something very strange that to this day we have never figured out.
We noticed 3 resort mugs on the sink counter not 2. We only purchased 2 one for him and 1 for me.....where did the 3rd one come from:confused3 :confused3 We don't use room service so we can't figure this out.

It was time to call it a night so now came the decision to sleep in 2in 1 bed or 1 in 2 beds. I feel so :guilty: for even thinking about it but decided I needed my rest so I could be rested up for more of Disney. So we started off sleeping in separate beds again only for me to miss spooning so I crawled into bed with DH. And that is where I stayed for the rest of the trip right where I belonged you know "In sickness and health and crowded beds till death do us part".

Tomorrow we have plans for Hollywood Studios.

Sounds like another good day! And if nothing else it ended well - definitely made me go "awwwww"

Sounds like your patients are keeping your hands full! Make sure you take good care of yourself, too......

DAY 6 ....FRIDAY...DECEMBER 12th

Up around 7:00am...took our mugs to get refills and sat down to eat the 2 muffins from the night before for breakfast. Caught the bus to Hollywood Studios with a little more wait time then earlier in the week, but still not bad.
Arrived at 9:25am First thing we did is head towards Toy Story Mania it had a line with 90 minute wait so we get our fast passs and it is for 6:15pm.
We then proceeded to the Studio Backlot Tour. After this we decided to use some of our counter service credits since we hadn't hardly used any our appetites just weren't as abundant as they usually are.:confused3 we ate at the ABC Commissary I had the Fish and Chips/strawberry mousse(both were very good) and DH had the hamburger/fries and Chocolate mousse. We finished our meals and caught the 1:20 pm Lights, Motors,Action Extreme Stunt Show this was a very intersting show we loved it. We had good seating.
It is chilly out today so we don't rush around.
Now comes the Star Tours ride which my DH did ride again I am so proud of him he is riding rides and actually enjoying them.
We then find ourselves heading towards The Magic of Disney Animation I had been excited to do this and didn't tell DH what it was until we were in room, We had a blast our drawing was going to be Mickey himself.
I sat in the middle between a cute little 9 year old girl and my DH. The little girl got so upset with herself because she made a few mistakes and kept telling her mother that it didn't look like Mickey and started crying that is when my Dh told her his didn't look like Mickey either his looked like a dog with funny ears. So they would compare pictures every few minutes and laugh at each others. I wanted to do this again but we didn't get a chance to to. These pictures made great souviners I plan on having them framed side by side and hang in our den.
It was time to use our Toy Story Mania fast passes so off we go to do it and low and behold there was now a 120 minute wait:eek: We loved this and guess who had the most points.....ME....:cool1:
We made it to Beauty and the Beast Show but by passed RnR Coaster and TOT. Sorry but just couldn't bring myself t do these.
Walked around and seen the Osborne Lights again.

We now are ready to settle down for some much needed alone time so back to the resort we go. Stopped at the food court and ate some dinner.
I had the penne pasta with alfredo sauce and chicken strip on the side it also came with a salad again both chioces were good no complaints..Dh had the meatball sub and chips said it was also good....again we have the resort mugs so we each get 2 rice crispy treats and 2 crumb cakes that we decided would be great for our next days breakfast. (we use our DDP)

Sat outside by the pool for awhile and then to our room.
Have I mentioned that we were having fun.

Tomorrow we were suppose to check out and check in at Pop Century but decided to stay where we were.
No plans for tomorrow it is a catch up day with DTD included.

Hey Vickey!! I just got caught up on all your updates since I've been gone! Sounds like you had you had yourselves an inbelievable MVMCP experience! Holy cow!!! I'm sorry it was so bad!

But, it sounds like a good time otherwise!!

Our weather is cold and freezing rain and turning to snow as I post ,with extreme low temps. They say our roads will be like black ice by morning.

I want to be back at Disney.
Sare is ther room in your suitcase for me?:rolleyes1 Jess wouldn't mind would she?
I bet you both are getting excited.

Melissa/Mickeysmyboy....where are you shouldn't you be home by now....I want to hear all about your trip so I can re-live Disney's magical moments..

I hope everyones New Year is off to a great start it seems as if mine is taking it's good old time catching up to me and my hectic schedule. I have already told my DH that we had both better plan on working as much over time as possible if we are going to do a cruise this year.I have always wanted to do one. But we never did mostly because he doesn't like being in the water and no land around. But in his "old" age he is getting easier to convence.:dance3:

Have checked on cruises from every Cruiseline and which ports we'd like to visit. Now we are waiting to see if DH gets the week of vacation he put in for. We decided not to do a vacation to close to Christmas since it got really hectic here and I feel as if I was rushed. We picked the week of October 18, as our first pick so we are keeping our fingers crossed that we get it.

We have several cruise lines that we are interested in.

The two top choices are Disney and Carnival and Western Caribbean being the destination.

Hey Sare or Mickeysmyboy have you ever been on a cruise ?/ I need help deciding.
