The *I got ENGAGED in Disney!* Trip Report-Update 6/27 Evening in MK

Finally, we get to our room!

Copy2ofDisneyWorld2009024.jpg

Room number in Cabanas 9B! Our home for the week!

We had an absolute gorgeous room! We got the King bed room that we obviously paid for, but it was also in a PERFECT location, with a gorgeous view of the lagoon and a white sandy beach with the hammocks! We also lucked out with a corner room, so we had two windows which made the room feel just a little bit bigger. Here are some pics of our lovely little home for the week:lovestruc:

Corner room with two windows! I couldn't have been happier!

Copy2ofDisneyWorld2009016.jpg

Pretty sliding doors that separate the bathroom area off the main room.

Copy2ofDisneyWorld2009019.jpg

TV area with some of that food we lugged around.;) You'll also notice that we had a DVD player. Apparently, this is only a feature for CL. Cabanas 9B is usually reserved for conventioneers, but because we came during a time without conventions, we lucked out with the location, and the extra perks like having a DVD player. Had I known, we would have packed some movies for down time, but c'est la vie.

Matt of course couldn't wait to unpack his carry-on and freshen up a bit, and rest for a while. I on the other hand was too excited to sit still. While Matt unwound, I took a little walk outside and took some more pictures of the beautiful CSR and our absolutely perfect room location and view!!!

Copy2ofDisneyWorld2009014.jpg

These were our only towel animals of the whole trip, but I loved them! The kissing swans stayed in our window for the whole trip, and I thought they were especially appropriate post-proposal.

Copy2ofDisneyWorld2009020.jpg

The view from our room. We were literally a stones throw from the beach! I knew a water view was not a guarantee since we didn't order from within that room category, so the view was a big treat for us!

Copy2ofDisneyWorld2009021.jpg

Another look at our view.

So anyway, after running around for a bit, I went back inside to join Matt. We relaxed a bit, but after a while I was getting way too antsy! We were in Disney after all! I was super excited to get the the Magic Kingdom. In my opinion, and I know many of you agree, the MK HAS to be the first park I go to. It's just not Disney until I'm walking down Main Street, looking at that beautiful castle.

So, Matt and I decided to walk around CSR, and slowly make our way to the bus stop locations.

Here are some pics of our walk:

The Dig Site.

DisneyWorld2009481.jpg

And another one.

DisneyWorld2009475.jpg

Picture of the Cabanas I believe.

So anyway, we walked fully around the lagoon, through the dig site, past the Rachos, and through the Casitas. The Casitas also looked very pretty, but overall, we couldn't have been happier with our room location.

Finally, we made it the Bus Stop One, and waited only a couple minutes for our first bus to the MK! Yay!

Coming up...a Magic Kingdom evening! And we get engaged!

Oh, those pictures are absolutely beautiful. We are definitely requesting the Cabanas when we go back next year (we've stayed in the Casitas all seven stays). I am SOOOOOO happy that you liked the CSR. I always feel better when someone comes back and enjoyed their stay, especially after I hype it. :)

Alright, so I am just going to keep on going, since I have the evening free, and that doesn't happen much....

So, we made it on the bus fairly effortlessly, and began were on our way to the Happiest Park at the Happiest Place on Earth!:cloud9: If I had known what was in store for us that evening, I would have been even more excited!

So, we got off the bus (maybe a 15 minute ride?), and made our way to the front gates.

Copy2ofDisneyWorld2009025.jpg

Ahhh...nothing like the first day at the World...when you are completely relaxed, full of energy, and ready to go, go, go!!!

So, as soon as we passed through the gates, we received yet another dose of pixie dust! Two British travelers (I just love British accents by the way. In my next life, I want a cool accent.;)) stopped us and asked us if we would like their fast passes for Splash Mountain because they were too tired to use them and wanted to leave. Um, yes please! Splash Mountain is Matt and my favorite ride in all of Disney!

So, of course, I had to take a quick pic of our unexpected FPs (for the sake of this trip report and all....:lmao:)

DisneyWorld2009484.jpg

Gotta love a little Disney magic!:wizard:

Finally, walking down Main Street, the view I was waiting for!

Copy2ofDisneyWorld2009027.jpg

And yet another one. One can never have enough pictures of Cinderella's Castle, in my opinion. Because we had JUST been to Disneyland a year before, I couldn't help but compare the two parks from time to time. Cindy's home definitely beats Aurora's in Anaheim every time.:rolleyes1 Don't kill me Disneyland lovers!

Copy2ofDisneyWorld2009029.jpg

Matt decided he was getting hungry and needed a snack, so we stopped to use our first snack credit to get him some popcorn.

After getting Matt's snack, it was time to get to business. So, mostly because of the Space Mountain closer, we went left into Adventureland and Frontierland rather than right into Tomorrowland. Pirates happened to be the first big attraction we passed, and with a 5 minute wait, we decided to hop right on!

Copy2ofDisneyWorld2009031.jpg

Kind of a crappy view walking onto the Pirates ride. As long as I already went there to compare Castles between the two American Disney parks, I might as well give a point to Disneyland for their version of Pirates. I think Disneyland's version of this attraction is soooo much better than the MK's version. Seriously, at Disneyland it feels longer, better themed, and I love going through the Blue Bayou in the beginning. So there, Disneyland...MK may have the better castle, but your Pirates are better.:lmao:

So at this point, we decided to walk into Frontierland to grab some BTMR fast passes, and to use our "freebie" Splash passes. After getting our Big Thunder Passes, we went to the Splash line only to find out the ride was temporarily closed. Bummer. We hung out in the gift shop adjacent to Splash for a while in the hopes it would start back up soon, but after a while, decided just to give up and come back after dinner.

Next, we hopped into a 5 minute ride for Haunted Mansion!

Copy2ofDisneyWorld2009032.jpg

I will always have fond memories of The Haunted Mansion. This was my favorite attraction at Disney as a kid. Seriously, as a kid I liked MGM and The Haunted Mansion...the rest I could take it or leave it....go figure. Who'd have thought I'd become a Disney Junkie as an adult.:confused3 Throughout the ride Matt held on for dear life to his sunglasses. On our last trip, I got startled at one point, and knocked them off his head, breaking them in the process.:rotfl2:

Next we went into Fantasyland. Like I expected, it was a mob scene. We hopped on It's a Small World mostly because it was one of the few Fantasyland attractions with a minimal wait (under 5 minutes again). I guess most people really hate that song.:confused3 I actually like IASW! Last year in Disneyland it was closed for refurb, so I was happy to go on it. Matt on the other hand could definitely do without it, and mostly went on just to indulge me.

At this point, we grabbed Fast Passes for Peter Pan for later that night, and made our way to Liberty Tree Tavern for our 6:20 ADR.

DisneyWorld2009398-1.jpg

Side note, tangent time....So quick funny story about the Liberty Tree Tavern. On our trip in 2007, Matt and I tried to eat here for lunch. We weren't on the dining plan that trip, and managed to score a walk-up here. Well, we sat down, ordered appetizers, and then there was a big water leak in the kitchen or something, so we never got to finish our meal here. Instead we got free soup, and were asked to leave...haha. No biggie for us, but I wonder what they did with all those Dining Plan folks. I mean, its not exactly easy to get a quick reservation in the World to use your TS credits, thats for sure. Anyway, I think I mostly booked this ADR just to finish what we started back in 2007.:rotfl2:

So, we got seated right away without any difficulty. Our server was a little slow (it felt like our food came out slower than most other tables), but it was nice to sit and relax in the air conditioning anyway, so I really didn't mind. Matt on the other hand, had a ring burning a hole in his pocket, and was kind of antsy to get out of there before parade set up started so he could propose.:lovestruc I of course didn't know this at the time, so I was enjoying the slower pace of our meal. Had I known, I would have booked out of there so fast! Haha.:rotfl2:

Food porn for those that care!

Copy2ofDisneyWorld2009033.jpg

Yummy Salad. Matt HATES salad, so this was all me.

Copy2ofDisneyWorld2009034.jpg

Picture of a full plate with a little of everything. Your basic Thanksgiving fare.

Copy2ofDisneyWorld2009035.jpg

Apple Cobler for desert. Also yummy, but we were both too full to really enjoy it. Plus, Matt has issues with ice cream, so we basically only nibbled.

We both liked the LTT, but I don't know that we would go out of our way to come back. We had much better meals later in the week. I can see how this place might be more appealing with the characters. Disney should bring them back here! Plus, I don't know that its actually worth the price without the characters. Just my opinion though. The bill for both of us came to about 60 dollars, and we both agreed right away that we were glad to be on the DP so we didn't have to stress about food bills all trip long. I think that fact in and of itself makes the DP worth it. Even if you only break even, its nice to have everything pre-paid.

So anyway, with our bellies full of our Thanksgiving Feast we made our way back into the MK....little did I know what was in store for us next!

In the next installment...PROPOSAL! Sorry for the stalling. I'm waiting for our Photo Pass CD which has all of the cool engagment pictures on it...anyway, it gives you all something to look forward to....:rotfl2:

Until next time!

Oh my gosh, KatMark! I cannot rave about CSR enough! You were seriously a big help to me planning this with your knowledge of the resort! I would not hesitate to stay at CSR again! It got a big :thumbsup2 from both of us!

Congrats!

Cute Youtube video! Was that your wedding video? Love the proposal picture with Pooh! So awesome! No characters were involved for our engagement.

I just started reading, but I had to post when I saw you use the word 'engagementmoon'!
DF and I had one last November (not Disney, but still great!) and we thought we were so clever to use that term for it. Haha, I guess great minds think alike!

Congratulations, and I'm off to actually read beyond the first couple of sentences, now...

I'm really glad you liked Coranado Springs. I can remember liking it a lot when I was very young (mainly I think for the pool and the waterslide, but... :) ) I'm in, and anxiously awaiting some magic to tide me over till Thursday morning, when we leave. The excitement hasn't really hit me yet - I expect it will tomorrow when I'm running round the house trying to find something I've forgotten to pack!

Belly... no my husband was deployed for our 9 year anniversary do i made it for him.. thank you!

That's cold, man. Just. Cold.

I'm all excited to find an update (great pics of CSR -- the room is beautiful), but what's this? No proposal yet?

THEN I find another update just below! Woo Hoo! This must be it!

Then you leave us hanging.

O.K., I'm done whining. Great updates, and I can't wait for the next!

I'm anxiously awaiting as well! C'mon already! LOL We can't take the suspense!

On another note, in March we were in Cabanas 9B as well. I was so bummed we didn't have any DVD's to watch. I later found out it's usually reserved for conventioneers so we felt a little special!

Patiently waiting...popcorn:: Love it so far! My mouth is watering after seeing the food porn...

KatMark posted your TR as a fun one to follow, so here I am..and she was right...terrific!!

Looking forward to the big announcement..oh, and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Looking forward to reading all about your trip. Congrats on the engagement and a wonderful married future to you both.

Hi!

I followed the link KatMark posted. My family will be staying at CSR for the first time in nine days!:love::love:

I first requested Cabanas and then switched to Casitas 4 or 5. Your picture and description makes me worried I shouldn't have switched. I just really, really, want a renovated room.

Oh well, congratulations on your engagement and completion of your degree.
Good Luck in your job hunt!

I'm hooked! I can't wait for the next installment!
And I totally agree with you about Disney needing to bring the characters back at LTT!
