We hope too, - but its very difficult to plan this far out - none of the hotels have firm prices or take bookings until 3 months out - which is very frustrating for me. The Sheraton Grande Tokyo Bay - a Disney partner hotel has rooms that will fit five - its a little way out of Central Tokyo but close to Disney and only a train ride away from other sights - and I have found a cute Machiya (self contained townhouse) in Kyoto on VRBO. (never used VRBO before -so a little apprehensive)
But at this stage I am just saving my money and crossing fingers and watching airfares.
(Again this is like our US trip - I start researching to see if it is doable - then before I know it I have invested too much time and effort and have my heart set, so cant back out.)
Bec, I think we will fly Qantas too - Jetstar seems to only go via Gold Coast or Cairns from Sydney with a couple of hours to kill in the airport- the kicker is if you are paying for checked luggage you have to pay for 2 legs. Unless you get a good sale the Qantas prices seem to be the same. (although I did see some great prices for Business class or whatever they call it, which might tempt me)
Travel Mum - My reference was to the federal budget that was handed down on Tuesday - the very generous government is giving an $820 bonus for each secondary school student - supposedly for educational expenses
(I'll take their money and refrain from any political comment)
