The I am a pirate/fireman, I am not a hijacker thread, all about nothing in general

:confused3 Did you sleep in today?

I got home from work this afternoon, thought i'd have a little shut eye at 4pm, woke at 6:45pm when DH called me for dinner :thumbsup2

Feel good now :)

Enough said. Yes we're going for gold and yes it is a great disappointment when you don't bring it home, but silver and bronze isn't anything to be ashamed of. Heck I'd be smiling if I even made the Olympics, let alone a final, not to mention making the podium. Now don't get me started on the commentary team...

I can't help but think that these people have so many endorsements and things to come their way if they over-achieve, but if they if they don't do as well as they'd hoped alot of these won't be coming their way...

These days i'd be rapt if I could swim 50m :crazy2:

As for the sponsors.

There is now a whole lot of bullcrap going on about how they want to stop people wearing headphones or earphones with brands showing when they come out. [mainly evident in the swimming apparently]

Because it might be a brand that sponsors the person or team...and NOT the sponsor of the event

give me a break...

So much utter crap...

I was hoping DBF would be able to sneak a Pepsi into the Olympic Park but he isn't on duty in the 'secure zone' :rolleyes1 :lmao:

Yep the fact that no gold = no endorsements would definitely be playing into the disappointment, especially with the swimmers what with Uncle Tobies and all that.

Just got a bronze in the woman's triathlon, and the young 19year old Aussie 400m runner won his heat with a PB. Maybe we (collectively as a nation) need to learn how to be happy with what we have won and done, and not what we haven't.

I can't even run 50m ;)

On another note...

just had to share...wonder of any dad's will defend themselves?

I never got this treatment as the only times my dad was 'left' was when there were other mothers around who fixed things :lmao:

I'm just happy to watch sport. I don't do sport well, so anyone that can run, swim, jump, throw, hop, skip, crawl, walk....I admire so much.

So long as you feel good that's all that matters, when I have a sleep in the middle of the day I wake up feeling like crap :crazy2:

:lmao: I got that treatment! I remember when my younger brother was born my dad sent me off to school with a $20 note. No back pack or anything, just $20 in my pocket. I was the most popular kid at school that day :rotfl2:

Actually thinking back I remember a time when my mum was quite sick and spent a couple of days in hospital, my dad and I got into a fight about me needing to clean my room, and he wheeled the wheelie bin in there to make a point. Not one to back down from a fight I just left it in there :rotfl: I'd go blue in the face if someone tried to bring the wheelie bin into my house now :goodvibes

The 100m crawl... I'd watch that

Right up there with watching ants build a hill.

BTW - I'm surprised the mods deleted your thread on the photoboard. I haven't seen that happen on that board....given that there is a LACK of mod there. Wonder who complained? :confused3

I had my dad wrapped round my little finger and my dad looks so dumb and helpless he'd win the sympathy of all the other mums when I arrived at ballet looking....not quite right... :rolleyes1

Generally I don't watch sports. I just find it interesting seeing all these people from far flung places come together to play archery, trampolining, some rowing etc...

I just don't understand the constant whining and moaning and complaining. Although I think Australia would still take the silver in those stakes compared to the British media ;)

I'd sooner watch Law and Order episodes I've seen ten times than sport normally though...

I think Sydney was the last time I cared about the olympics, I used to love it, now I really couldn't care less...

I would probably watch a lot more of it if I didn't have foxtel, but I really enjoy cartoons, so The Other Big Event on fox 8 has kept my attention. lol

Yes, we are a very proud nation at the moment :thumbsup2

We all had a laugh when our news showed us some Aussie news show that showed the top 9 nations for gold medals and then jumped to Australia at number 17. Who shows a top 9 and not a top 10 list?!! Someone who doesn't want to show New Zealand at number 10!! :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:

I love the Olympics and have been glued to the T.V. whenever I can since it started. I'm off to Thailand on a work trip on Tuesday morning so I'm gutted I will miss the end of it.
