Well, we've had a fun-filled day. DS8 has the day off from school, so we took DS4 to preschool together. The preschool allowed the kids to dress in costume today, so DS put on his Yu-Gi-Oh costume and plastic "wig". We walked into the classroom and the kids were all sooooo cute! Minnie Mouse, a couple of Snow Whites, a rooster, a Red Power Ranger, Dracula, Captain Hook, a Seahawk (football player) and more. Totally adorable! I remembered to bring my camera and snapped a few pics before leaving.
DS8 and I had planned WEEKS AGO to walk through a local corn maze this morning; however, since it's been raining off and on (mostly ON) for the past few days, and was pouring while we talked this morning, he decided he did NOT want to do that. So we went to Starbucks to think what to do from here. We only had about 2.5 hours of freedom, think fast!!!
DS8 asked if we could go to Toys R Us, because he had several gift cards burning a hole in his pocket, and he wanted to get a specific
Lego set that was pretty pricey. We returned home briefly to grab the gift cards (I also grabbed his Barnes & Noble card since it's on the way) and we drove to TRU.
They conveniently had the Legos right inside the door, so he quickly found one he wanted. They also had Halloween stuff there as well for half off, so I ran through the stuff and picked out a couple light-up necklaces and a couple books.
When we checked out I was annoyed to find out that the "ALL HALLOWEEN 50% OFF" does not apply to the books, but since DS had already seen them and really wanted to get them, I still bought them.
We were in and out within 10 minutes, so on to Barnes and Noble we went! DS found TONS of books he wanted to get, so had to whittle them down to $30 worth, the amount on his card.
I found the CUTEST Halloween booked based on Good Night, Moon, which I used to read to the boys when they were younger. It's called Good Night, Goon, and follows the same rhythmic sound patterning as the original book, only it's hilariously spooked up. I think DS4 will love it!
As we exited the bookstore we still had nearly an hour before we needed to pick up the munchkin. DS8 asked, "Mama, when is lunchtime?" just as I realized I was starving. I asked if he was hungry enough to eat lunch yet, and he said yes, so we hit up a Red Robin nearby. YUMMMMMM!!!
We dashed to pick up DS4 after that, then ran down to Blockbuster to pick out some movies. DS8 remembered then that he'd left his retainer at Red Robin, so back there we went.
We were very fortunate that they HAD it, the busboy joked, "Yeah, I tried it on but it didn't fit, so I threw it out." The greeter who'd asked about it blanched, "You
tried it on???" until she saw that he was laughing at her.
So now we're home. DS8 is watching a new Scooby Doo movie that just came out on DVD. Who knows what DS4 is up to; I should go check. He's been a bit of a troll since we picked him up, so I suspect he's tired today. And so am I!!! Mama needs a nap!
