OMG!!! I totally almost forgot to tell you. SOOOO... my hubby comes home from work limping a bit today. Apparently, he tripped over a pallet that had been left outside a door... He remembered hitting his toe, then looking up at the sky. OMG.. When he was describing it, I was laughing so hard I fell out of bed. He is a BIG guy. Can you imagine him just biting it like that?? Oh GEEZ. He was all... THANKS HON. I wouldnt laugh at you if YOU FELL.

First of all.. Yes you HAVE. Second.. BOY.. Do I wish I had been there to see it. It was funny. SO FUNNY. He wasnt hurt.. just scraped his knee.

Do you remember the two guys (other than Albort) that used to frequent this thread? One was GrumpyPirate, and I can't remember the other guy's ID, I think he might have got the boot for some reason. I saw Grumpy on another thread the other day and was thinking he was the other guy; I was gonna say, "Hey! You're still here!" but then realized I was confusing them. I think Grumpy just got bored with us.

I have seen him around.

OK, here's one for you:

I worked with someone once who excitedly told me she got a personalized license plate. She wrote it out for me: MENMYRC

I stared at it forever, and of course the whole time she's watching my face, waiting for a reaction. I finally said, "Men merk? I don't get it."

She was frustrated, and said, "Me and my RC! I drive a Ram Charger! RC!" Ohhhh. Hookay.

I wouldnt have gotten it either.. Things need to be fairly obvious for me.. My mom had plates that said... RED TRK. Guess what that stood for?? Red Truck. Why? It was a red truck.

Lord, if DH had done that, it would have meant surgery for sure. Last summer he was texting on his Blackberry ("Crackberry", my neighbor friend calls it) and didn't see a curb, fell right down and twisted his knee. GEEEEEESH! Then a few weeks later on a business trip he did it again!!!

Lord, if DH had done that, it would have meant surgery for sure. Last summer he was texting on his Blackberry ("Crackberry", my neighbor friend calls it) and didn't see a curb, fell right down and twisted his knee. GEEEEEESH! Then a few weeks later on a business trip he did it again!!!

If he had been really hurt.. I probably woudnt have laughed.. so hard... We cant help it.. Better to laugh then cry!

Yeah, some people just try to be too clever for their own good.

My mom was talking about when my brother and his fiancee visited last week. She was really nervous (my mom... well, the fiancee probably was, too), and said it was really hard to talk to the girl because of the language barrier.

I said, "Oh, did Dad try to speak French with her?" and she said, "French?"
"Well... Yeah. They speak French in Cambodia, don't they? Just like in Vietnam?" She says, "Ohhhhh. We hadn't thought of that."

When they were over on Saturday, I opened one of my gifts, a box of Lindt chocolates, and cooed, "Oooooo, chocolat!" My sister laughed, and my brother's fiancee whipped her head around to see. Yeah, the girl speaks French all right!

The weird thing is, I was very impressed with the girl's English! When she spoke I understood what she was saying, and she seemed to understand when I spoke to her. (We talked mostly about the baby, the weather, and other general topics.)

She apparently told my brother that she had trouble keeping up with everyone because we were talking so fast, but that's to be expected when you first start speaking with native speakers. I was the same way when I was learning Spanish, I could understand recorded cuentos and other educational things where they speak much more slowly and use standard vocabulary, but native speakers are going to talk faster and use slang.

I think, unless she's stuck in the house all day, that she'll pick up American English very quickly and do well.

DBF and I went to Vegas this past weekend and the weekend of Halloween we are going to San Diego. That's about it. I'm trying to talk DBF into another cruise...but it's not going too well.

Cool! A friend of mine is in Vegas now (for business) and was looking for something to do in her free time there. I suggested the m&m place (I've heard about it, never been) and the Bellagio fountains. She's definitely doing the m&ms!

Now... I love Chinese food! Also Thai, Vietnamese (though I haven't had much of that.) I'm eager to learn more about Cambodian food, now that my brother's fiancee is here.

She brought us each a bag of dried fish. No idea what kind. Some is in big slabs, other finely shredded to almost a powder. My brother says they add the powder to rice and to soups. I'm not a big fish eater, so I honestly have no idea what to do with the stuff. I feel kinda bad, because I think they'd probably enjoy it more than we would, but I didn't want to refuse it and risk offending her.

My MIL and her DH fish a lot, and she cans the fish in this oily solution. She gave us a big jar of tuna one time, and it sat in our cupboard forever. Finally we just tossed it, I have no idea how long that stuff keeps, but DH has not been able to eat tuna since his childhood (long story) and I can't eat super-oily stuff anyway. She asked on her recent visit if we'd like more, and DH said, "No!"

Well send that home canned tuna my way! My MIL also can's fresh tuna, they do use oil to can in, but it is not oily at all after you drain it. It looks sort of odd in the jar, but it is the absolute best tuna you will ever eat. It doesn't taste fishy at all and it is wonderful. If you ever eat home canned tuna you will probably never eat canned tuna from the store again. I am totally grossed out now by store canned tuna. BLEECH!
