The "How Could You?" trips x2-the finale! 2/12

Happy New Year to you and your family.

Thank you!! And may you and your family have a wonderful New Year as well.

I have NO idea how I missed your last update, but I won't make up an excuse. I'll just say I'm sorry. :sad2:

Sounds like a good start to your party night. The weather looked beautiful that day and love all the Halloween decorations.

Love seeing the "older" picture of your kids since I hadn't followed your earlier reports from the last one.

Been a long time since I left off. So sorry. The holidays interrupted this TR. Hope everyone had a magical holiday season with friends and family. OK, where did we leave off? Oh, yes! I'd just had a lovely desert of Citrus Swirl from Sunshine Seasons. the small cup was $3.40. And I would absolutely have it again.

It was very refreshing. Slighly tart and tangy, but really good.
We headed on into Frontierland and rode Big Thunder and then wandered over to Splash for a quick dunking. We spied a few Hidden Mickeys along the way and I pointed them out to J, which then started a whole hunt. We were planning to meet up with my friend and her daughter for the party, so we were waiting for a call from them letting us know they'd arrived.

We'd had a wonderful, warm and sunny day. But wouldn't you know, about the time the party was due to begin, the clouds began rolling in! We headed on into It's a Small World (just for nostalgia sake), and about that time, Pam called to say they were entering the park. We told them to meet us at the entrance to IASW. Pam's daughter wanted to ride the new Dumbo. I took a few pictures of the new FL area....

IMG_1262.jpg

that was not wet from the splash area :rolleyes1

It kept drizzling a bit off and on. We decided to get in line and ride the new Dumbo during a bit of a break from the drizzle. (foreshadowing........)

As we get situated with ponchos under our behinds to try to stay dry and the ride gets started, the downpour begins. There we are, going around in a circle with water spraying in our faces. I had luckily made the wise decision to keep my camera in the bag. I pulled the poncho over my head and around the bag as best I could, put my head down so the water would run off onto the floor, and tried to enjoy :lmao: the ride. And then I discovered..... my Dumbo didn't work. :rotfl: Yep, didn't go up or down. Just stuck in the middle. There I was going around in a circle, getting wet, and riding an extended ride on Dumbo. (at least it seemed extended-maybe it was just the ambiance). And you know, just after we got off, the rain slowed and then stopped completely!!

After our lovely experience there, we hit up a few Trick or Treat stops along the Alice path and wandered on out through the stops in TL. I picked up a couple of party pins for my kids. By now it was time to head over for a spot to watch the 1st parade. The rain had stopped, but the paths were still pretty wet. Didn't look too hopeful for the Headless Horseman.

IMG_1267.jpg

We found a great spot outside HOP to watch the parade, grabbed a soda and snack and sat down for the parade. I grabbed a cute photo of Pam and her daughter-they were dressed for the party. J and I only did the T-shirt thing.

IMG_1268.jpg

On with the parade. I will try to only pick a few photos as I took many. No HH this time. Too wet. Smart decision. I know a few party nights later he rode and fell due to slick pavement. Glad that didn't happen this day.

What a fun ride on Dumbo! :rotfl: And your Dumbo didn't even work?? Isn't that ride fairly new?? At least the one section of the ride is...

I love the MNSSHP parade. It's my favorite!

never understood the whole Square Dance thing for this parade..:confused3

Love the hyenas!

IMG_1316.jpg

When we saw Lion King in Chicago, we had aisle seats. DD was sitting in the aisle seat and one of the actors that stood as the hyena stuck his head right in her face as he came down the aisle. She jumped a foot!! It was so funny.

Candy! Trick or Treat Candy, scrumdili icious, fun to eat!!!

IMG_1320.jpg

IMG_1323.jpg

Parade done, time to move on to the Villians Mix and Mingle!!! After a few candy stops, of course!

IMG_1324.jpg

These photos did not turn out so well due to all the moving around, dark and no tripod.

IMG_1324.jpg

IMG_1334.jpg

IMG_1337.jpg

Moved on from the show, and came across a few cuties headed to a birthday party! Unfortunately, the line was closed so I had to take the photo with some strangers posing with them.

IMG_1341.jpg

Headed back into this area now that it was dry.

IMG_1342.jpg

There was a fun dance party going on...

IMG_1344.jpg

IMG_1345.jpg

We had danced, watched fireworks (I guess I didn't photograph Hallowishes this year :confused3), watched the parade, trick or treated and finally decided to head out. Pam and her DD headed out ahead of J and I. We decided to hang out and watch the thinning crowd.

It was a great party. We had no waits for anything. Now that the crowds were gone, it was time to catch a bus. We headed out to the CBR stop and there were only a few busses at some of the other stops. None in ours. A CM asked where we were headed. He called over a bus, and we had this for our ride home.....

IMG_1362.jpg

Yep, completely empty. A whole bus just for us. A private ride back and dropped off right at our stop.

Discovered why I have no Hallowishes photos...I videoed the show. And since you can view those on YouTube videos any time, I won't try to upload those videos (takes forever).

And it appears that October 1st is a very photo short day. Not sure why, but I hardly have any photos at all from today.
We were up early and out to breakfast. Repeat the Mickey waffle and bacon. Hey, you have to get them while you can, right?! Out to the bus at 0801. Bus arrived at 0810 and we arrived at DHS at 0825!! We were on a mission. A Toy Story Mania Mission!!

We headed straight there (with a hoard of others) and I grabbed us fastpasses (return time 10-11 AM) and then we headed on in for a ride. We were trying so hard to hit all the things we'd seen for high scores. We did get the rocket to take off with the aliens. That was cool-hadn't seen that happen before. Then we headed over to RNRC and walked on. Next was TOT, but the line was outside into the gardens. Changed mind on that and went over to Star Tours. Walked on and went to Endor and the Death Star. Went back over to TSM and used our fastpasses. Returned to Star Tours again and walked back on. This time we went on a Pod Race and back to the Death Star. We went back through single rider line on RNRC and then stopped to shop in the dump zone. Picked up a t-shirt and drumsticks for DS. Time to head out for our lunch reservation!

We were headed back to Epcot. We decided to take a nice relaxing boat ride. We walked right out to find a boat waiting and boarded at 1130. We arrived to International Gateway at noon! I stopped in the IG shop to see about the 30th Anniv. pins and was told they would only be available at Mousegears and you had to wait in line.:headache:

IMG_1363.jpg

We made a stop in Club Cool. I got a laugh off some guy trying the Beverly. He was contemplating all the choices and I really did try to warn him. But you know how that went. :rolleyes1 He tasted it anyway. And I got my giggle for the day!

We stopped over at Mousegears and the line for the 30th Anniv. merchandise was over 2 hours. :scared1: I didn't feel I needed them that bad to want to wait for 2 hours. So we skipped that in favor of heading to lunch.

We were heading to...

and we sat about here as well (also borrowed from google images)

I had the Mahi Mahi, and J had the chicken. Both meals were excellent. But the most excellent was (without a doubt) the lobster soup. For desert I had the mousse and J had the chocolate wave. The meal was one of our favorites. I know there are conflicting reviews here, but I would go back.

After lunch, I stopped back by MouseGears, and the line was down to 45min (so I was told). I decided that was managable. J went on inside to shop for other things while I waited for the pins. I know I waited well over the 45 minutes (probably more like an hour and a half). But DS would be happy. I got him the one thing (the pin) he really wanted, since I'd been so rude and left the children at home this trip.
A lady in line had gotten lightheaded. They had her sitting off to the side. All she wanted was a drink of water, but the CMs had to call the paramedics and then she had to go fill out a report. Poor lady probably never did get to pick up her pins. Felt really bad for her. At one point while waiting in line, I felt a little woozy as well. We were in the alcove between store windows outside where little to no air was circulating and it was HOT! Sure glad I didn't need to be hauled away! ;)

Finally got to the pins at about 3pm. Picked up the pins and some 30th anniv. T-shirts, lanyards, and mystery pins. We then decided it was time to check out the Festival Center for the Visa cardholders. We were thirsty!

No worries.
We did have a wonderful start to the day, but as you can see, it didn't last. Oh well, we still had a great time!
It is fun to go back and see how much the kids have grown. They were soooo blonde then.

What a fun ride on Dumbo! :rotfl: And your Dumbo didn't even work?? Isn't that ride fairly new?? At least the one section of the ride is...

I love the MNSSHP parade. It's my favorite!

Yep, broken Dumbo!! I must have been on the old group of Dumbos!:rotfl2: We laughed about that ride for weeks.

I so love MNSSHP! Did not think there was any way it would be better than MVMCP, but it was...probably has something to do with all that sugar they are handing out. :rotfl:

Love doing the Beverly thing to people...of course, when someone in your group actually likes Beverly that kind of kills the joke. (Yep, that happened once...and he took seconds, thirds, and fourths of it...gag!)

I like the Halloween party better than the Christmas party as well. October is honestly my favorite time to go. I love Halloween, and my birthday being that month may have a little something to do with it. The weather is good and the crowds are managable. They have gotten a lot bigger since our first October trip in 2004. I must say that is disappointing for me. It's too hard to take the kids out of school now, though. I am stuck with summer trips when I bring them along.

The best one we ever did the Beverly trick to was my niece's husband. :rolleyes1 He took a large drink. I thought he might choke to death. :rotfl: But, yeah, if they actually liked it, that would really blow the joke.

Well, despite the getting rained on during your flight with Dumbo, the night looks like it was pretty much a success. You got some really great parade pictures. We did the Halloween Party twice and we really enjoyed it (although I doubt we will do it again...it was so crowded for the second one that we got hardly anything done :sad2:).

I'm sitting there looking at the next update with the picture of Spaceship Earth and you started talking about the Studios. Yes, my blonde was showing at that moment. :lmao::lmao: Glad you got two rides in on TSM and that you got two different scenes at Star Tours.

We went to Coral Reef in September (and I'd also gone with the girls in January) and we really enjoyed it. I would go back in a heartbeat...especially for the Chocolate Wave.

We headed into the old Wonders of Life Pavillion and hunted down the Chase Lounge. We had to go into the Ghiradhelli shop, and (horrors upon horrors) we just had to get a free chocolate on the way in! :thumbsup2 The lounge is not overly large, but it had some comfy couches/chairs to relax in and soda fountain as well as coffee/tea selections. There were baskets of different Werther's caramels to try. And there was a center with Ipads you could use to check out the happenings for the Food/Wine Festival. It was relaxing and air conditioned. Chase also offers wristbands for preferred viewing areas for Illuminatios and the Eat to the Beat concerts. A nice break from the heat and crowds. I met some nice people in there to chat with for a bit as well.

After a rest, we headed on over to Living Seas and rode Nemo and then checked out everything indoors. Had to check out Turtle Talk. J had never experienced that. Dude!!! It was Righteous as always!!! We checked out the aquariums and wandered around for a bit.

It was time to head on over to World Showcase. We were just a little hungry, so I stopped in Canada for a sample of beef and chedder cheese soup. Also grabbed a large sweet tea. We hunted out a spot for the Illuminations viewing. I knew it was going to be packed and we needed a good spot early. So around 8pm we were along the fence between the Greece taste spot and a gift shop. Not a bad view. We did, however, have a large branch that hung down off a tree that became a slight issue during the show. Not bad.

IMG_1366-1.jpg

We watched the show. I did video all of it, but my video pales in comparison to the ones in HD that you can see online, so I will let you look for the 30th Anniversary Epcot fireworks there.

After the show, we decided to go back to the resort for a little soak in the hot tub. I grabbed a couple of photos on the way out.

IMG_1371-1.jpg

IMG_1372-1.jpg

This little guy was here to greet us on our return to our room.

IMG_1373.jpg

We were back to the room by 10pm and off to the hot tub for a soak. We had a fun day planned for tomorrow-a tour of sorts.......
Off to bed by 11:40pm.

We did have an enjoyable time. And actually, after that soaking on Dumbo, it really didn't rain any more. Just sad everything was wet and the Headless Horseman didn't ride for either parade.

Sorry to confuse you with my lack of photos. ;) Don't know what happened. Guess I wasn't in a picture taking mood. I know I had a headache that day after spending time in line waiting for pins. We even went into a first aid station so I could get some Motrin since I'd left the bag I had with them in it at the room. Those stations are really nice. And the CMs in there were quite helpful.

Another early morning. We skipped any food at the resort because breakfast came with our tour. We grabbed an early bus to Epcot and were at the front of the park by 8am. It was an Early Entry day, so we figured we may as well take advantage of it since we had to be there early to check in for our tour.

IMG_1375_zps23ca3603.jpg

We went right to The Land and rode Soarin' stand by with only a 5 min wait. We then stopped in at a pin center. DD has been looking for a completer pin for her orange bird set. I was talking with a CM at the pin center about it and she was checking into it for me. While she was doing that, we just chatted a bit about our trip and upcoming tour and what we had planned for the day. She shared a website I could check out. Before we left from there, she also gave me a CM only Epcot 30th pin. Very sweet of her and totally unexpected.

We had some time before check-in, so we went over to the Festival Center to get wristbands for the concert that evening.

Funny, I still remember going into this building in 1996 and riding Body Wars and checking out all the other exhibits in there. I was sad to see it go.

We received another free chocolate :rolleyes1 as we made our way into the Chase Lounge to grab our wristbands for the concert and get a quick drink. Tonight's show for Eat to the Beat was Sugar Ray! Nothing like a flashback to my high school days. :thumbsup2

Time to check in for our tour. We went to Guest Services and got our name tags and placed our breakfast order at Sunshine Seasons. We both ordered the breakfast platter which included eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, and some fruit along with a drink. The other choice was a continental theme with a croissant and fruit (I think) Then it was time to go over to Innoventions for our training session. I am copying my description of the tour from my post done just after we returned as everything was fresher in my mind then:

Just back. We did the 9:30 tour on Oct 2nd. Met at Guest Services at 9:15, walked over to Innoventions, had a helmet fitting, watched a brief movie on how to operate the Segway, Jim talked us through all the controls and what not to do (they don't go backwards), then we headed out to training inside Innoventions. We learned how to get on, then had short sessions on going forward, turning, stopping, and how to get off. Then we had a few lessons on going up and downhill and manuevering around corners and getting through tight doorways. Robert joined us for the training sessions and he was our tour guide for the trip. Once we were all comfortable with that, we rolled off to the Land for breakfast at Seasons. Others have explained breakfast. I got the full breakfast and everything was really good. We were given our headsets after breakfast. We had time for a bathroom break and got fastpasses for Soarin' and then headed out.
Rolled through Future World off to Mexico via the winding paths, on by Norway into China and rolled to the back there and learned some things about their building and colors/customs.On to Germany. In Germany we rolled up and down the hill by the train display and learned facts about that. Had a stop in Italy for photos and a chance to just mess around. On to the American Adventure learning some facts about that building and forced perspective. Learned some facts about the Japan pavilions, rolled through Morocco and had the challenge of fitting through their tight doorways, on by France-more forced perspective facts and then on by UK and Canada (with a few facts about the totem poles and the forced perspectives used there.) After that, we rolled on back into Future World and returned to innoventions to return our helmets and we received our pins there. Still the old pins as other posters have previously stated and they will mail us the new ones. It was a great tour and one I would definitely be willing to do again. And with the Disney Visa, I recieved the 20% discount, so it was $84.35 per person. Not a bad deal with breakfast included.
The earlier tours may be a bit easier due to less crowds in World Showcase (and we did have the Food and Wine tasters out and about making it worse). People will just walk right in front of you when you are on the Segways. And they don't stop on a dime. Sometimes you just have to laugh!

these photos were taken during our free time in Italy along with this little video.

The video is only 2 minutes, but it shows a bit of the free time fun!

our fun day continued in next post

These were the pins received from the tour. The one on the left was the old pin we received that day, and the one on the right is the new one I received in the mail after I was home for a month or so.

Our tour completed, it was time to check out some "old" entertainment. I haven't been back into these buildings in years! Kids just never had any interest, and as I remembered them, they weren't worth waiting for.

Some cheesey entertainment for sure.

IMG_1381_zps7479ffc1.jpg

Ellen has come a long way since her Jeopardy days!

And I really did love Figment for a time. I even had a stuffy of him.

IMG_1386_zps35d4bb47.jpg

But I can now honestly say, I remembered them correctly. :lmao: Glad there really weren't any lines to speak of. We were going to do the Capt. EO thing, but didn't for some reason. Not sure if it was time or lack of interest. :confused3 Anyway, we did go on over to Mission Space! The last time I did this ride was in 2004 or 06 . There wasn't an option of sides and I got off feeling really BAD!

IMG_1387_zpse58f760f.jpg

I opted for the easy side this time because J wanted to ride. Was much easier on the old stomach (not to mention my head).

Then we went in for the free Visa photo op.

IMG_1390_zps3cc083a3.jpg

Last time we stopped here for the photo it was Mickey and Pluto, so this was fun to have different characters. You never know who will be behind the black curtain going in.

We went on over to Spaceship Earth for a ride and then used our Soarin' FPs.

About 3:30 we decided to go on over to the World Showcase for some snacks.

The forecast called for rain today, and the clouds were moving in. We were truly hoping to get through the day without needing the ponchos again.

IMG_1392_zps9a1bed19.jpg

I had to get one of these
images
photo borrowed from google images

I decided to try the lemon one this time, but won't make that mistake again! Not that it wasn't good. It was good, but the Grand Marnier flavor is Excellent!! And I WILL be having that one again on my next trip.

We went over to the Hops and Barley for a clam chowder soup and a lobster roll (much better here than at CHH). Next up, Germany for an apple strudel.

WDWAugust2008028.jpg

Now the rain started. We ducked into the American Pavillion and had a listen to the American Singers. We thought we'd go through the American show, but it was time for our concert......in the rain. :crazy2:

IMG_1393_zpsdc97973a.jpg

thankfully, the rain stopped and the sun gradually returned.

IMG_1399_zps58a816e1.jpg

It was a great show. After it was over, we shopped a bit more-went to China for some chopsticks and picked up a Yin/Yang T-shirt.

Stopped at the Caribbean food kiosk for Ropa Vieja (as I recall, I did not care for this much). And then we shopped a bit more in Mousegears. I picked up some Mickey Bar scented air fresheners for DD.

We made a quick stop back in the Festival Center for a drink and at the photo center to pick up our free photo and then we headed out to the monorail. We had a dinner ressie to get to!!!

We were going here for dinner:

IMG_1401_zpsd58d37cc.jpg

We took the monorail over to the TTC and then walked the short walk on over to the Poly. It was lovely to be back in the lush, tropical setting of the Polynesian. All my summer memories came flooding back. LOVE the smell in the Poly lobby. On up the steps to check in for dinner at Ohanas!

IMG_1402_zps078eed6c.jpg

No window seat tonight for Wishes, but that was OK. We had a fun view of the ovens/entertainment.

IMG_1404_zps56d3bc3c.jpg

Once again, the only food porn photo was our desert and special birthday desert.

IMG_1406_zpsc8468c97.jpg

I have to say here that I have been to Ohanas each visit since 2009. It was a HUGE favorite that visit. But each time since, it seems it has lost some appeal for me. :sad1: And this last time may well be my last time. It is always a struggle to get this ressie, and the food just didn't seem as good. I still loved the potstickers and the wings, and LOVED the desert. But the meats the past 2 times have not been cooked well.

We took the monorail back to Magic Kingdom and then a bus back to our resort. To bed by 11:40pm. It was a long, full day!

Planning to finish this report up soon. Need to load the last of the photos and then will continue on with our last full day. It's a day of, "things don't go quite as planned, but then sometimes that's when the best things happen!"

The Segwa Tour looks like so much fun. But I have to tell you my hubby is a total klutz and he'd probably fall right off of it.

Love the picture with Minnie Mouse. :)

And beautiful pictures of World Showcase.
