The Hot New Toy For Christmas is...

And I don't think my 3 year old will be able to use it. Or can I plug joysticks into it as the above person asked? That would be great.

Are B.C. Builders at anywhere besides Toys R Us?

I swear last week they didn't have them at Walmart, Target OR K mart. :rolleyes1

They had BC Builders at my Target last Friday. Don't know if they still have them, I would think so because the whole shelf was filled with them. DS has these on his 'list' for b-day and xmas.

Haven't been to Toys r us yet. Been trying to get there all week, but DS has pneumonia, so we've been stuck in the house all week. Hoping to get out tonight after DH gets home.

Wow! I have resigned myself to the fact that I will be buying my 10 year old an iPod. Trying to figure out which one to get! Nano is the cool thing now, but some say to go with the regular iPod instead (I think memory and battery life??? not sure). The black looks neat, but reviews say it scratches easily. What type of iPod have those of you who are purchasing for Christmas or already own select?

And just when we thought it was safe.....Apple just announed yesterday that they now have the Ipod Video (bigger screen, bigger memory) designed to hold video (as in music videos), a lot more songs and pictures. Even tv shows from ABC will be available to download for $1.99 each (after they have originally aired on TV). I personally don't see the point of this - who wants to watch video on a 2 1/2" screen, but they must have done some research and kids will probably want one. The pricetag is hefty at $299 - $399 also. I'd go with the Nano because they are supposedly going to phase out the regular iPod/mini in favor of the Nano.

Do you know if the joystick works with the VSmile Pocket?
I honestly don't know. It doesn't look like it from what I've read on TRU, but I can't say for sure. I'm going tomorrow to do my research to see if we're going to get it or not, so I'll post if I find anything out.

If you think your child is too young for this alone, I highly recommend the regular Vsmile. DS got it when he was 3 (almost 4) and has enjoyed it from the beginning. It took a while for him to become really comfortable with both the joystick and the buttons/pen on the Leapster, but he has some minor fine motor issues and maybe thats why.

It is getting harder to buy for my oldest. He is 10 yrs old and when I asked him what he wanted for Christmas he just shrugged his shoulders. So far no mention of wanting an ipod. :) My DS8 wants every toy he sees on tv.My DD6 is easy. She wants a bike,Star Station and American Girl clothes. My youngest will be almost 2 yrs old.She is getting a bike, the Tigger that cartwheels and some other age appropriate toys.We didn't know she was coming so we had given away all the outgrown toys that the others had at this age.I hope to get some ideas for my boys soon. They don't really play inside much.I will definitely be getting movie gift certificates for the stocking. They love to go but it is soo expensive.

Also, about V-Smile...please do post if you find out about the joysticks...I want all 3 of my kids to be able to use it, especially at home with the tv and being able to hook up 2 joysticks would be perfect in addition to being able to take in the car or on a plane, etc.

Okay, I had a break so I called Vtech customer support. They said the pocket isn't designed to be used with the joystick. What a bummer...that would have been cool.

Bummer though. Now maybe I can get the Disney Sketch for car rides & plane rides...hmmmm...

If anyone picks up an extra "Go Go TV" at Target on clearance for $12.48, I would love to swap one for a Lord of the Rings TV game that I got on clearance for around the same price. Let me know! :flower:

Walmart has the BC Builders- 3 different sets/sizes (I think the smallest has 2-3 varieties where as the biggest 2 are one kind only)

Least my store does

I highly recommend the Vsmile and Leapster- its definitely worth the $$$. ds loves playing games on the Vsmile. I bought the adapter for it so it doesnt eat batteries. I thought at first I would need to buy another joystick but the kids do well sharing. They take their leapsters everywhere we go so its a nice variety between the two. I went ahead and bought those disney sketchers but Im having 2nd thoughts about returning them. anyone have any reviews on them? thanks

I was wondering about those little tikes one. I ended up getting ds the imaginext sets for his bday when tru had the buy two get one free. costco had a set of imaginext dinosaurs that he kept pointed at so I had my dad pick them up for him to go with it.

:earsgirl: :earsgirl: :confused3 DD5 decided today she didn't want Dora talking kichen because it does not have enough accs. We went to Costco and she saw a wooden kitchen $130., she says she would like this instead...2 hrs later she states she would like the Dora one. What to do? I have already bought the Dora kitchen and would hate to return and not be able to get one at the last minute. SHe has had to kitchen that have been given to Salvation Army because she never played with it (they were little tikes).

I would like to tell her "No kitchen" but all she is asking for is this kitchen and The bitty twins w/accs.

What do you think?

I would keep the Dora Kitchen. Every year my DD and DS will change their mind back and forth. So, I've learned to keep them until after Christmas and then return. It was a hard lesson one year regarding a certain toy and I had a hard time trying to find it. :teeth:

Would it be possible to just add more accessories?
Not sure what she had in mind, but since you already have the Dora kitchen, I would just try to add some more accessories to it.
