The Hot New Toy For Christmas is...

I'm thinking it's going to be "Rescue Pets". I found one at a major toy store and grabbed it!

you tell me! I am dying to know what it is going to be this year. I have seen the Cabbage Patch craze, the Tickle Me Elmo craze and last year the Dora Talking House Furniture craze. Any predictions as to what it is going to be this year or is it too early to tell? :earseek:

Amen Titan, and I hope my kids are some of them!! My grandkids get way too much for X-Mass and I think forget what it is really all about!! :goodvibes

IF anyone preordered Kingdom Hearts 2 for Xmas they just pushed back the release date - it now will not be out until March ---

GRRRR....my Ds really wanted this one for Xmas!

UGH!! My son wants that one sooo bad! It's on the top of his list. Thanks for passing along the info, at least now I won't be stressing the week before Christmas trying to find it! lol

My dd got one for her birthday. My MIL had to order it from Amazon because we have never seen them in a store yet.

Any ideas on what to get almost 9 year old girls for Christmas this year? They are my boyfriend's girls and I am clueless but would like to start shopping.

Anything from Limited Too! My nieces go nuts over that store...Oh, and Hilary Duff make-up. I found some at Target in the cosmetics end cap.

Do you think there will be some sort of deal for iPods on Black Friday?? I am wondering if I should wait until then to get my DD her iPod.

Maggie

On our local news, it says that Apple is not going to be able to keep up with the demand that the new IPOD has created...we ordered one a few days after it came out. I feel fortunate to have it packed away for DS's Christmas!

This is the hot item in our house - please excuse if its been mentioned before. It's a mini-ballerina bar, with a floor pad that has footprints on it to show how to place your feet - sort of like an Arthur Murray dance guide for kindergarteners. It comes with a CD of a little ballerina to guide DD5 thru her paces. Got it for $18 on sale at Target last week. I'm also looking for "That's So Raven" cologne. If I'm feeling really masochistic, perhaps a Karaoke toy. I also got her "Disney Princess on Ice" tickets and a personalized Disney princess book where she's a participant in the stories. DD walked by Libby Lu's in our mall the other day and was drawn inside like Homer is drawn to a donut - same blank eyes, same dribbling at the corner of her lip - and came out with a list of a million things for Santa. How did I - a sensible shoe wearing Mom - wind up with the girliest 5 year-old diva on the planet for a daughter? :confused3

Just to warn you if your DD is in ballet she may be too advanced for this. We got it for DD last year and she already knew all her positions. She got bored with this very quickly. She still uses the bar to practice and stretch at home.

I don't know if this is a great deal or not, but Sams Club has a vsmile set that includes
-console
-ac adapter so you don't need batteries (not included with base set)
-2 joysticks (vs 1)
-2 smartridges (vs 1)

Sams club online has it for $69.88 and you can order it through "click n pull" for instore pick up at that price with no shipping, just sales tax.
http://www.samsclub.com/eclub/viewproduct.jsp?item=957976

In the store it is $85 (right where you walk in at my store!) and it's the same one as on Walmart.com for $89.

Considering that the AC adapter is ~$15 and the base console is ~$50, this seems like a decent price.

Gotta join this awesome thread!

My dsalmost8 asked us for a Stitch room. I couldn't believe my luck! He wanted his room redecorated for Christmas! I was able to get almost everything from disneydirect in the clearance section. I got his entire room (bedding, rug, shelf, hamper, wall decoration, etc.) for less than $100, w/free shipping!

Then all he asked Santa for were 8 Pokemon figures. These sell for about $3.95 each, so he's actually going to be overwhelmed at the boatload Santa is bringing him -- at least it will look like a huge number!

I also got him the Pokeman Master Trainer game, Simon2, Doodle Monster in green, three puzzles, a Stitch toy and Stitch ornament. I think I've spent around $250 or so. This is about half of what I usually spend, so I'm very pleased. DS has a January birthday, so I'll be picking up the SpongeBob version of Life, Disney Guess Who?, and Disney Sorry!. I actually buy them now, because good luck finding toys in January.

My in-laws compensate for ignoring him all year by getting him lots of presents, so I'm not at all worried that he won't have enough.

Any ideas for "hot" smaller, i.e. less expensive, items?

Thanks,
Maria

Gillian- I had bought the console already at TRU for $50 when I heard about this deal. I went to Sam's this am and found it right when I walked in with the sale price 69.88. I'll happily return the other one to TRU and put that $ towards something else. Thanks for passing the info on!

I looked on the Sams Club site and see the V Smile but it says it is not in the stores by me(1 hr away) If I order on line I have to get membership 35 plus pay postage, has anyone seen these anywhere else. I just saw the regular on in Wal Mart by me for 54.97. Does anyone have an opinion on the regular one vs the the portable one for 79.99. Thank you for any help. :earsgirl:

gran- I decided to go with the console vs the portable vsmile. We are creating a play room for my girls and one of their joint big gifts will be a 23" tv for their room.(IF I can get it a walmart on BF!) I also am getting Nintendo DS for DD8 and Gameboy adv sp for dd5 so they can swap games and the GB can play those movies on car rides. We also have leapster so all of this made more sense for us to have the Vsmile console vs portable-as I understand = the portable can attach to the tv but will require adapters and you can't use the joysticks when it is really portable. I realized that the GB and Nintendo gives us more flexibility and will probably last several years whereas the Vsmile will be outgrown a lot quicker-since it is geared towards a younger audience.

My in-laws ignore my kids all year too...that cracked me up! But they ignore during the holidays too! :bitelip:

I found the Prince Charming doll which in my area is almost impossible to find. The clerk at TRU said they were selling like there's no tomorrow! I got one of two left.

We don't have boys that are small, just girls, so I can't help you on the little stuff. Are they into Star Wars? Target has SW pez and Sponze Bob. Lots of cartoony candy stuff!

Do you have a costco membership? They have a bundle as well, but it's slightly different. It's probably not worth buying a membership in any club unless you plan to go there.

Try Target if you have that, or target.com. There are often 10% off codes for target.com. And I'd keep an eye on the Walmart.com bundle because it used to be cheaper. Around the same $70, I think. It might go down again. You never know.

With the console for $50ish, I would have had to purchase either the adapter or rechargable C batteries and a charger anyway.

We also have a leapster for DS 5, and chose the vsmile console because it can be shared with DD 2 as well as their friends.

I have found that DS wants to show his friends his leapster but it's very difficult for more than one person to use.

I am also not really sure when DS will outgrow the v.smile and figure I'll get more mileage out of it as a joint gift. I bought one additional smartridge for each of them.

Hope that helps!

Thank you that is just the kind of input I was looking for. I was going to get this for 3 yr old twin grandsons and their brother has the Game Boy so what you say makes sense....now all I have to do is find the bundle at a Sams club up here in the woods. Thank you. Carol :earsgirl:

Anybody having a hard time finding the "Ultimate Build Your Own Lightsaber"? I saw gazillions of them two weeks ago, but now that DS has decided it is the #1 thing on his list I can't find one! Walmart, Target and Kaybee are all sold out online.

No problem finding 2 of the Ultimate Build Your Own Lightsabers in store at Target. Each of my boys had that at the top of their list also.
