Day 11 – Friday, 10th August, Islands and Universal
We had breakfast in the Orchid Lounge then walked to Islands.
In Islands we went on The Hulk, Dr Doom x 2 (them), Spiderman, Popeye x 2 (the youngest didn’t do it though), Dudley Do Rights, River Adventure, Duelling Dragons followed by the Sinbad Show.
Then we had the best meal of the holiday in the Mythos Restaurant. The hubbie had steak, I had blueberry and baby spinach salad with chicken and the kids BBQ wraps. Afterwards me and hubbie had a shot of Key Lime Pie which was delicious. Not realising what a shot was, I nearly asked for spoons to share the sweet out (thinking it was going to be normal Florida portions), however, it was served in a tiny slim glass ½ inch by about 3 inches tall – in other words a shot. I was so pleased I had not asked for extra spoons, I think we would have got just a teaspoon sample each.
Afterwards we did the Poseidon Adventure, my favourite part being the water tunnel. As we were walking back to Dr Doom I lost them, felt a bit like a little kid lost. I had been busy taking photos and they always just presume I am walking after them. Anyway I just headed to Dr Doom’s and waited there, eventually they turned up. Apparently they had sat down and I had missed them in the crowds. I felt quite relieved to see them. They went on Dr Doom, then me and the hubbie went on The Hulk – I just love the beginning on this ride – whilst they did Dr Doom again.
Then we went back on the Popeye ride to cool down twice. The youngest still didn’t go on it. Afterwards we walked back to the hotel and refreshed.
We must have had a change of maid because the standard of cleaning changed, not that there was anything wrong with the other one, I wouldn’t like anyone to get the wrong impression of the Royal Pacific because it was clean, etc and a fantastic place to stay. However, the new one took time to arrange our own toiletries and other stuff which made everything look tidier. She/he also started leaving little gifts like Royal Pacific magnets, necklaces, etc, also a note saying thank you very much for the tip and a smilie face. Good customer relations.
After we were changed me and the youngest went down to the pool. I read for a while then had a short nap. The hubbie and eldest followed, shortly afterwards the youngest said he was bored and he went back off to the room, I followed then got changed to go into Universal.
Before we went to Universal and because we were waiting for the eldest we had a wander around the hotel before settling in the Orchid Lounge for a lovely glass of wine.
Next we went to Universal, first stop The Mummy and again the CM made me jump, MiB twice then we went for tea. We went to a restaurant just near Back to the Future but we were not that impressed with it. We had Chinese beef and peppers but it was cold. I think the best option was the pizza which the youngest had. From what I saw the Meal Deals in Universal were all of the cheap variety – burgers, pizza and the like.
We went on Jaws, we all tried to trick the hubbie into being the last one in row 7 (for a soaking) but he wasn’t having any of it. Whilst waiting in the line I tickled the eldest’s neck with a bit of string, he really jumped, thought it was a spider.
We followed this by another ride on The Mummy and then out of the park back to the hotel.
