The Holocaust

In the first semester of school we studied the Holocaust in school. We read the stage version of Anne Frank since we can't read the actual version in class. Nearly every girl (and a couple of guys) read the book after the section was over. Anne Frank wrote beautifully for someone her age.

Our teacher used to have a survivor of the Holocaust come to the school and tell us about it. He doesn't come any more, since she can't garuntee that he will be alive every year, but she taped him speaking a few years ago and we watched that tape. The stories he told and pictures he showed were terrifying.

As a history major I have studied the holocaust in depth but it is hard for me to watch the documentaries since I lost family in the concentration camps.
My grandmother still has her yellow star of david armband.

i think it was a horrid event

dont get me started on that

i read Anne Frank

I'm sick of it. I read about it in every single english class from sixth grade on.

Number The Stars was good, we read that in grade 5 as a novel study.

GREATER THAN ANGELS.
that was the book I read. It was good.

people don't believe it happend??

CRAZY.
and we read some book in like 5th grade about it. and i had absolulty no idea what was going on. i think it was number the stars. i just remember going to class saying i have no idea what's going on.
and we read night last year. SUPER SAD. and this year we went to the museum. i cried. it was sad.

and speaking of holocausts, anyone seen the rwandan genocide? less people died but it was still as sad. we watched a movie about it like "showers in april" or something of that matter. it was REALLY depressing. but cool to learn about other like genocide//holocaust things that are/have been going on.

I think people say it didn't happen because they realize just how much sympathy the world gave the Jewish people after the Holocaust. The Nazis tried to hurt the Jewish people and turn the world against them, but they ended up doing the exact opposite. That is why I think racists will not admit the Holocaust ever happened because of what it did.

As for people who don't believe that the Holocaust is real, tell the people with numbers in their arm that it didn't happen. That's all I have to say.

I have realatives who were in those horrible nasty camps...by miracle, they escaped (though after a lot of torturing). Try telling them the holocaust didn't happen.

A faculty member has very close realatives who were tortured in those camps. Try telling them that it never existed. Makes me sick to my stomach to hear people say it never happened. I don't care about "opinion". People like that make me seriously want to throw-up. This isn't a subject of opinion. This is history.

What if some bold-faced idiot went up to someone and said the attacks on the twin towers never happened?

Adolf Hitler took the edited works of Nietzsche and listened...Hitler tried to take the idea of creating this "superman" and hell, he tried what he could. He wrote a book about it. There are existing campes still around today. My GOD! What happened is REAL! G'ah! People like that...people who think it never happened, they really REALLY twist my nerves.

i love learning about it.
Or school made us re-act it. we had to all pack into small rooms like the train and sit down. it got so hot and smelled really bad.

i think itss sadd..
there is thiss book youhh might like itss called The Devils Arithmetic
its kinda borin but youhh might like it
check it one dayy =]
That sounds so familair why. Oh! I remember now! We watched that movie in 6th grade. I'm glad I didn't read the book, but we saw the movie. Extremely sad. I hate hangings. I hate people getting hurt. That movie was just too sad. One guy got a girl pregnet and all 3 of them suffered. :sad2:

Number The Stars was good, we read that in grade 5 as a novel study.

GREATER THAN ANGELS.
that was the book I read. It was good.

I also read "Number the Stars" in fifth grade. I've read "The Diary of Anne Frank," and saw the movie and play a few times as well. It was such a fascinating time in history but it is also very sad and depressing.

love holocaust books....my favorites are: Night,The Devils Arithmetic, The Diary of Anne Frank, and I have Lived a Thousand Years... they're really sad and its such a horrible thing and i cant believe its even a real thing....:sad1:

The Holocaust is history, despite people say that it never happened. There is so much evidence and so many documents about the Holocaust, it could probably fill up my entire school.

Last year, my Language Arts class read The Diary of Anne Frank. We spent two months making a play out of it. We had a guest speaker come to our school and tell us his story. We did a report that covered different aspects of the Holocaust.

There are Holocuast survivors that still live today. Although they were just children when the Holocaust happened, they remember it. The agony, the heartbreak- they remember it all. Imagine, just try to imagine being one of those survivors. Imagine dedicating your life to educating teenagers about history. Imagine hearing about the Rwanda. Imagine. The survivors who've dedicated their lives to history have to hear about other people going through the same torture they did years ago. Their hearts must break for the victims of Rwanda.

Imagine, those same Holocaust survivors from 65 years ago having to hear about yet another genocide in Sudan.

Holocaust survivors have dedicated their lives to educate the younger generations and, they hope, ensure that another genocide could never happen again. But there have been more than two genocides.

The Holocaust doesn't affect those who lived it 65 years ago, but it also affects people who've had to go through similar agonizing torture.

I believe if someone can say that the Holocaust never happened, I can say that they're saying something beyond bull. But, that's just my opinion.

so, wait a second. some people actually believe that for seven years, the world was at a stand still? that for seven years everyone around the world all decided:
"hey, lets make up some bogus story about killing people!"
"what a great idea? who shall we pick on?"
"ooh, how about the jews, gypsies, homosexuals, and frankly anybody that doesn't have blonde hair!"
"brilliant!"
right. well. ignorance i suspect is bliss.

anyway, anything about the holocaust gives me chills. we have a holocaust museum not too far from where i live and every night they light triangle shaped candles all about the entrance. its very ghostly looking, which drives my imagination nuts.

ive read a lot of the darker things cocerning the holocaust. i dont really read any of the books about it. its a little over-done with school, but so is romeo and juliet and mlk.

my friend has always wanted to go to aushwitz (sp..) just to see it. i wouldnt be able to handle it. like i said, i have a huge imagination and im pretty sensitive so i dont think id be even able to look at it save for in pictures.

I was up around 10 o clock one night and was flipping through the channels. I stopped on the history channel. There was a Documentary on about the Later part of THe Holocaust about "cleaning up". All those bodies, stacked together like dominos it's loke nobody cared. Well that was almost off and the the movie about the Diary of Anne Frank came on. It was four hours long. I cried almost the whole time. My mom had gone to bed way earlier but I stayed up watching it. After it went off I couldn't go to sleep and my mom got up for work. When she came into my room she asked why my face was all blotchy, I told her why. That made me cry ,alright. But everytime I flip to the History Channel and one of those Holocasut documentaries are on, I don't cry, but sit there in anger and awww of what people done. There was no reason to kill all those people. No reason at all, except that Hitler loved killing and done it for his own sick pleasure of killing all those people he believed to be "below" him.

I will leave you with that and say good night, sleep tight, keep warm because all those years that Jews were in concentration camps and in hiding, they never rested, not once...

Did you ever see the Family Guy episode where Stewie and Brian were in Germany and asked the tour guide what happened to that time period. (why it was left out of the guide) He ignores them, and after persistance, he yells, "They all were on Vacation!"

What's sad is that many people think like that.
