I just finished "The Help" a few days ago & it really made an impact on me?

Did anyone else read it? What did you think?

LOVED it! The book club I belong to will be discussing it this month. Even though I read it in the spring, I am looking forward to hearing what other thought. It made me cry in a few parts, but I felt it was promising and hopeful, too.

I also just finished it a few days ago. It was an amazing book - such a profound story. I laughed, I cried, I smiled....I just could not put it down.

I really love it. i had the audio book version of it. Best audio book that i have ever listened to . They are going to make a movie of it soon.

I read it about a month ago. I was very moved by it. I also just read sarah's Key and that was very moving also.

Great, great book. Loved it.

I saw an interview with Ron Howard's daughter who is going to play one of the bigger roles in the movie. (She most recently played Victoria in Twilight - Eclipse.)

ETA: I looked it up -- Bryce Dallas Howard is playing Hilly Holbrook.

Great book! I didn't know they were making a movie...I hope they don't ruin the story. That happens so many times with books I love.

I read it many months ago. One of the better books I've read in a long time. I'm 46 and it's hard for me to imagine that when I was a kid that crap was still going on.

It's definitely on my top ten list of favorite books I've read. Well-written, great characters, amazing story.

I also really enjoyed the book, it was a real eye-opener and I also found parts of it very upsetting.

According to a programme I watched on TV here in the UK a few months ago, some of that crap IS still going on - for those who are interested, it was a Jamie Oliver food special where he was travelling around the US. The episode in question was filmed in Georgia.

I am sooo excited its all new fresh faces in the lead parts!
People Magazine had an article when the book first came out wanting Anne Hathaway & Oprah for the leads....blech

wilma-bride-I dont know where in Georgia your chef was-but this book occurs in early 1960's when there were seperate bathrooms for whites and blacks-and that is one of the key occurances-the main character builds an "out house:" so her maid isnt using the inside toilet-please tell me where he found that?

i just finished this book. it was so good. i, too, remember the separate water fountains, bathrooms, etc. it really hasn't been that long ago.

i hope the movie stays true to the book.

Same here. It was great

Loved it! It is one of my new favorites!:)

I am looking forward to the movie, but they rarely do justice to the books I like.

Alison Janey is playing Skeeter's mom - I "pictured" a young Janey as Skeeter as I was reading!!!!!:)

Oh I agree.....
I can't imagine how the emotion is going to be put on screen.

It was the first book I read on my kindle. It was very entertaining.

I read and loved the book when it first came out! I wanted to re-read it, but had lent it out. So I was in Costco the other day and bought the audio version. Wow. The women reading are just SO good.
