No, actually the new icon for DHS is the Tower of Terror.

There are stories (myths? urban legends?) that the hat was placed there intentionally so that you couldn't get a good view of or photo of the Theater, as Disney and the actual theater owner were not seeing eye to eye. Not wanting the "enemy's" icon to become the focal point of the Studios, Disney "covered" it. The rift is over and the hat is gone. Not sure if any of that is true.It was put there for the 100 Years celebration and was not designed to be a permanent structure -- they just decided to leave it up afterward instead of taking it down.
Plans are for it to reappear as part of the Studios expansion. That hat would be in a part of the park that doesn't exist at present.I expect to see the tip of the hat somewhere. That seemed to be the only part left intact.
Even it is still big. No idea where or if it will reappear.

Internally, the concept is that the hat "represents the creative side of design and animation". Supposedly that should give us a hint to the context for its reappearance, but it doesn't give me much of a guess. That would be good. Use it as a starting point. Too big to be shoe horned in.
I wouldn't be surprised to see A hat appear in some future expansion...but after seeing how they carved this one up pretty unceremoniously during demo, I'd be surprised to see THIS hat reappear.Plans are for it to reappear as part of the Studios expansion. I think they're going back to the Earful Tower. A lot of the new Park Merchandise for 2015 has an updated version of the Earful Tower for HS.
