Where I live, it's for crossing the street not at the crosswalks. I think it's like a traffic thing or something.(I have a family member in law) There are people that get these tickets. I don't believe they're one of the moree expensive tickets. Sometimes though you can get offered a deal in my city where you have to write an essay about the dangers of jaywalking to the judge and you can get a discount on your ticket or if the judge is really nice he may dismiss it. I think it's mostly for minors though.

We're just taught "Stop, Look, Listen, Think" as kids. I have a road safety book I got in primary school somewhere. The only roads we can't cross are motorways, and I don't know why anyone would want to cross a motorway anyway.
