The Handbasket Trio, 12/11! - Postponed 7/11

To quote that shiny ball giver "You lush!".
I'm not much of a drinker but Port is something that I'm quite happy to imbibe in. :goodvibes

Well being raised in a family that hosted Wine Tasting Parties at least twice a year, and they let me partake whenever they hosted even when I was about 13, of course! Port is yummy, so are most other wines, and yes I do imbibe a few. :goodvibes

After discussing things with Molly and Cherry, we've decided to not only add a day to the trip, but shift the trip to a few days later, so that it's during the week, instead of over the weekend. This affects them more than me because Molly works a typical 9-5 Monday through Friday job and Cherry is trying to find a job with that schedule. My job, as some of you know, is completely insane with a rotating twelve hour schedule, so I'll actually only have to take two days off of work, unless we decide to drive, which means we'd have to leave the day before.

SO!

Now, our dates are December 5-9, 2011. We're still staying at Pop, and will also be staying in one room for financial reasons. It's also easier that way, since WDW is known for separating parties of adults and putting their rooms in different locations. The extra day is so that we won't stress ourselves out trying to do everything what we want to do, like the high tea at the GF.

We're not sure yet how we're going to be getting there. Airfare will be rather expensive, and the train is out, since that would take two days to get down and two days to get back. We're thinking about driving, but that would require either my buying a car (which I'm planning on doing at some point this year) or renting a car. If we drive, we'll have three drivers, so we can do it in one night.

Also, Cherry's son has absolutely no idea about the trip. I think he'll be 12 this year, but I'm not completely sure. Anyway, his birthday is in December, not long after the trip. For him, this will be his birthday and Christmas presents this year.

Today, I went to Target to buy a new pair of gym shoes for work and while trying to find my parents (they were in another section of the store), I wandered through the school and office section, since I've been looking for a Disney notebook for trip information and such while on the trip. I finally found one!

They had a few different cover styles (one was comics and there was another with Mickey), but I liked this one best. There was also a standard-size notebook that I liked, although it was spiral-bound and I didn't want that because I've had bad luck with spirals getting crushed and bent out of shape.

That's the page style.

So, that's what's going on with this trip so far. Our itinerary has changed a little bit, but I can't set it in stone until Disney releases the MVMCP dates.

As for the Geeks on a Plane trip...

Well, this might turn into a single PTR. Jacquie still hasn't had her surgery or found a way to pay for it, and we have to have this trip paid for by early or middle September. I'm going by her place tomorrow, so I think we'll be having a discussion about it. But, to be honest, I don't see it happening. Which is sad, because I really wanted to go with her, but such is life, you know? I'll keep you guys updated, but I really don't see this trip happening.

I thought....YAY...an update...and then I got here to read the news.

Bitter sweet. I love the Disney notebook and it looks wild! Bet it will even be better in a couple of months time with all your information in it!

And then I read about your Geeks trip. :sad1: Oh well, as you say...such is life. :flower3:

Yeah, it's pretty bittersweet. Honestly, I think it'll be better all around if we don't go. I want to, of course, but I don't think they can afford her surgery AND the trip in less than eight months. There's no way. Not to mention the recovery time and everything. I think it'll be best. We can always go another time :)

I love that notebook, though :teeth: It was only $6, which isn't bad for a hardcover notebook like that.

So, I'm at Jacquie and Ian's house right now, but I brought my laptop to show her pictures from my trip in October. We had a discussion in the car about whether we were going to do the trip or not, with everything going on in her life financially, and we've decided to cancel the trip :( It's sad, but I kind of knew it was going to happen, and I think she did, too. She and her husband just can't afford it right now. So we're canceling the trip for the foreseeable future. Jacquie and I are thinking about taking a weekend sometime and going up to a local resort just for fun. We'll see about that :)

But yeah, this has now become a single PTR.

Sorry to hear about the cancelation, however, knowing what it's like to be with someone with bad knees, it's for the better. When her health is stronger, she is more likely to enjoy the trip rather than being in constant pain.

So Yay for at least one trip on the horizon, and you always have Disneyland! :cool1:

Oh, I know. My parents and I spent a day at WDW with my mom in a wheelchair and it was... interesting. It's for the best to cancel it, so I'm not devastated. We're going at some point, we just don't know when yet :) Jacquie and I are thinking about spending a weekend at Key Lime Cove, which isn't that far from us, and wouldn't be that expensive, all things considered.

Wow I missed a lot! I had no idea you canceled the fall trip, that's too bad! :( At least you still have Disneyland and the December trip to look forward to, though! :thumbsup2

I love that Mickey notebook, I might have to venture out to Target and get one. I still have to get myself a Disney mascot too, to amuse me over the next 8 months until my trip is here!

BTW...did you abandon my TR? Haven't seen you there lately!

We just canceled it a couple of days ago, so you didn't miss it by much :lmao: But yes, at least I have Disneyland and December to look forward to :) Jacquie and I are looking at spending a weekend at a semi-local indoor waterpark resort, but we might go up to the Wisconsin Dells instead. It depends.

I really love that Mickey notebook :) I want to start putting stuff into it, but things could change drastically, so I don't want to put things in the notebook that I'll have to tear out :lmao:

I haven't abandoned it! I read, I just forget to comment sometimes :guilty:

The other night, I decided to check out the Pop fridge swaps again and I finally found one that was not only still running, but had our dates available! So we're signed up on a fridge swap now! :yay: I don't think we'll use it for much other than drinks, but still, it'll come in handy.

We're also considering going to the spa at the GF, but I'm not sure if that's a definite plan yet. I've also just remembered about the mini-golf voucher that you get with the Magic Your Way package, so I'm gonna have to ask them about that :lmao: I don't know if we'll have the time, but if we do, I think that would be fun :)

I think that's everything for right now... We're still trying to figure out how we're getting there, but I think we'll wind up flying.

:confused3 Huh?

A fridge swap is where a fridge is stored in Luggage Services at Pop or the All-Stars and then shared with Dis users. You just have to sign up in advance. The Values don't have fridges in the rooms, so this alleviates the need to pay $15 a day for a fridge.
