The Gypsy HSN bundle ...

My Gypsy just arrived!!!

I can't wait to open it up and try it later tonight. I got all excited about it now that it's actually here!:cool1:

Don't forget to post back here. I want to hear what your opinions are on the new toy. Can you believe it i have not played with it yet today/tonight. bummer...

I was just coming here to post this too. here's another post about how Mac users that have never downloaded a trial version of CDS are having trouble now, and Provo Craft didn't even have a clue what to tell them... :sad2:

I just got done reading your link. That is extremely sad and very misleading, especially during the whole HSN launch. I heard over and over that it is compatable with MAC. I guess they figure they are not lying, because it does work with MAC, but hey...if you cricut is not updated your gypsy will not work, but that is not MAC related,so we are not lying. Very sad. I can not believe their only suggestion is to go to a friends or library. Personally I do not have any friends who are into scrapbooking,so they would not have cds.

Ok, I played with my Gypsy tonight (no linking cartridges or cutting though).

Immediate thoughts:

1) WTH??? There are no written instructions beyond a small picture showing how to turn it on!!!!!??????!!!! I guess I must be the odd person b/c I actually read instructions and like to refer to them. Yes, there is a help button on it but c'mon...give me real instructions.

2) The screen is pretty big, as compared to the screen on the Expression. However, I wish it was a bit bigger ... the font type is very small on the main menu.

3) The power cord is not very long. I was playing with it in my family room and since we don't have outlets right next to the sectional sofa, I had to either sit on the floor with it or hold it at an odd angle. I'm sure PC really wanted people to use the battery, not have it plugged it, for their main use.

4) Search function -- wish there was a way to display all the results on a TOC page or something...having to toggle through each one takes a long time...I'd rather see a display page stating "5 flowers in Mickey cartridge; 16 flowers in Walk thru my Garden", etc and then you can click on that to see the individual ones.

5) Viewing the cartridges -- I hadn't paid attention to the HAnnah Montana or Hello Kitty cartridges...it was nice to see what they looked like from the comfort of my sofa

6) Gypsy Wanderings (or whatever it's called) is SUPER cute!!

7) Because there are no written directions, I ended up just literally playing with the buttons...hitting this and that to see what it does. I "think" I found the weld function??? Not sure...I found where you can group and ungroup objects on the mat...not sure if this welds them together or not...I really want this feature for my titles

Anyway ...

I think this could definitely change the way I scrap...allowing me to prep my pages at any time of the day...no longer having to dedicate a solid chunk of time...this could be good...

There is a manual, virtual one. You can download it and print it out. I am on my phone now, so tomorrow I will get the link and post it. I have not looked at it either. I was just playing with mine and have some skulls from the wonder cart to test out cutting tomorrow. I was playing with the buttons but couldnot figure out what was what, so I am going to print out the manual. I am like you and would like my instructions at a hands reach. Someone printed 4 pages on 1 page to print out, because it is 32 pages long.

UGH...32 pages...guess I'll go load my paper tray tomorrow!

Did you see that Gypsy is coming to COSTCO??? It's not at my costco, but I wonder what the price will be?

I got an email last night about them being available at BJ's Wholesale Club. Seems silly to me, but I'm not a marketing guru ;)

well since we go to bj's once a week for our usual weekly stuff, maybe i can just throw it in the cart.....:rolleyes1

I'm a costco gal...if you happen to see it at your club, and I will too, let's report back on what's included and how much

Ok, I had Gypsy dreams last night...I was just hitting all these random buttons and it was doing all these cool things...can't remember what now but I remember waking up and laughing at myself...:rotfl2:

OT -- Disney Carpet/Rugs

Anyone see the new Disney Carpets and Area Rugs? I just went to check them out today. We are looking at getting the Pixie Purple in Tink's Flight. It actually has a HT - Hidden Tinkerbell on it. It's done so well that if we didn't tell anyone, they probably wouldn't ever see it.

Also, if you stop by your carpet store that sells the Disney carpet, they are giving away a free Disney item to all the kids. My DD4 got an adorable Tinkerbell baseball cap and my DD 6mo got a small Tigger stuffed animal just for looking at the carpet.:thumbsup2

I am going to print it out 4 to a page, so I can save on some paper. My eyes are still good so I should be able to read it:rotfl:

Today is my gypsy big day. I laid in bed last night and got an image ready to cut out on the cricut. I will let you know how her first cut goes.

I saw the post with the gyspy coming to costco and bj's (not have one of those). It will be interesting to see the price and what is with it. I know if I got it from M's it would cost me the same here with the tax and driving as it did from hsn. My hsn gypsy has the extra warranty on it plus all those extras. Now I need to figure out how much to sell my Don Juan for? Any suggestions.

How much is it to ship the Don Juan cart from Cricut? I've got the points to buy it, but the shipping makes me crazy! I think if you really want to get rid of it, you should at least get your shipping charges back, you know?

I will check my BJ's. Just cuz I'm curious :)

I actually got two. I got one from the cricut rewards. It cost me $20 to ship. I know outrageous. The one I want to sell is the one I got in the gyspy bundle. I was thinking between 40 and 50. I was going to list on craigs list first. I just recently sold 3 carts from there. They were older and not has hard to get. Now with everyone selling their dj I am not sure what to price it at.

Okay here is a report on my first gyspy cut.....

I had the G hooked up to the E and pressed the cut button. The G told me I needed to update my E. Okay easy. I did has she told me too and I had to update in two parts. Each part took a good 10 minutes. I now have version 2.33 on my E. After that I cut out my image on the G without a problem. I just wanted to make sure she worked and she does. Yeah!

I wanted to mentioned when I had to update my E I did not have to hook up to me computer. My G must have had all that on it when I updated it andtook that info and gave it to my E. So the two segments of updating my E were done between my G and E.

Yeah!! I'm sooo glad you don't need to hook this up to a computer to update the Expression. I will have to try to cut something out onthe Gypsy font later today to try it.

As for Don Juan pricing..all I can say is that when I buy a cartridge on-line, I'm hoping to pay $30-40. I guess I'm cheap that way ;) I would really have to love a cartridge to pay $50. I got all my Mickey/Princess cartridges on ebay and pay $43 or less, a year or so ago.

I sold the dog cartridge that came w/the expression bundle for $38 + $7 shipping, I believe. I prob could have gotten more, but I was happy with that since it was a cartridge I didn't want/need.

Good luck!

Oh, and thanks for the link to the manuals.

I printed the quick guide full pages and I'm printing the other one with two-to-a-page, but skipping 5 of the pages that I don;t need.

Glad to know it's working!

I'm guessing there will be a glut of Don Juan carts on eBay now. Note to self, check out eBay for Don Juan ;)

Well, mine arrived yesterday and I took it off Ebay and took that bad boy out to play! Glad I did, I will be keeping it, providing nothing catastrophic occurs in the next 30 days. :rotfl:

I successfully updated, designed and cut. Everything went just as it should.

Oh, and I was able to update the firmware on my Cricut directly through the Gypsy, no need to hook it up to a PC.

One more thing, sounds like they have the Vista 64 bit problem resolved. :thumbsup2

I think I'll call her.... Baby G.

Edited to add, I am still not loading my carts into it until I am sure!

YAY!! I am so glad you got baby G out of her crib to let her play. They have got a lot of great tutorials out demonstrating a lot of stuff the G can do. I plan to check them out, so I can get faniliar with all she can do.

Good for you Luv2scrap!!

I think I'm keeping mine too -- and I haven't even cut yet...hoping to do that tonight!
