A preferred room could be just as far as the that section of the 50's - only so many of the preferred rooms are close to the food court etc. Many 70's and 50's rooms are just as close, so if close tp Classic Hall is important be sure to have that has the first request (other than non-smoking).

That's very true.

I was in 50's A on the end near Classic Hall - and I could have thrown a coin and landed on the roof of Classic Hall. The walk from the busses took about 60 seconds.

Maybe I've just had bad luck, but I've tried twice to put "near Classic Hall" as a room request and both CM's have given me grief over it! The last one I spoke to said "they assume everybody wants that - they just ignore it if its on there."

HI! We're considering switching to the POP for our July trip. I've never stayed at a value but everything I've read sounds great. I'm still hesitant though. Our current ressies are for the Swan. We couldn't afford a monorail resort but needed something convenient. This is the 1st trip w/ds who will be 15mths. I'm very hesitant about all buses. How bad is it in July and how far out are the pickups?

2nd~ I don't want to be in timbuck-to (SP?). I heard that there are close rooms everywhere. Some of them look to be far away. Should be book a preferred room? Is it worth it?

3rd~ I also want a quiet room. Like opposite side of the pool. How do you request this?

See I love WL b/c everything is so close. If we do stay here I'm so afraid that we'll be way in the back if I request quiet. We stayed at CSR and were in the back in the Ranchos. Right next to a bus stop but a mile from everything. We didn't even get a mug b/c the walk was ridiculous.

UGH! What to do. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. TIA

Hi My family and I were at Pop Century March 22 to the 29, 2005. We just loved it. I have not been to Disney since 1986 so I have nothing to compare it to. We stayed in the 90's building on the 4 th floor (We could see Epcot's fireworks at 9 PM). It was quite and clean. The housekeeping staff decorated our rooms with towel bows-so cute! We had people all around us but we never heard any noise. We also ate our breakfast in the restaurant area and loved the gift shop. It was a very busy area (the restaurant) but we enjoyed the excitement, the little children watched the disney cartoons on the big screen tv's and the older teens loved the independence to get what they wanted and refill the mugs as frequent as they wanted. The pools were super. Guest relations were super too. I am planning to go back again in 2 years. I hope your trip is great.

From reading the last post, am I correct to assume that there are big screen tvs in the POP food court? If so, what can you tell me about it (them)?

Ok, I'll try to answer as many of your questions as I can.
We went to Pop last September and were also a little worried having never stayed in a value before. We ended up having a BLAST and loving Pop- especially because it afforded us more money to spend on fun stuff!

As for the busses with a 15 month old. Be prepared to have to get your stroller on and off. Make sure you don't have so much stuff that it will be a huge pain to unload and load at every bus stop. I'm not sure about crowds in July, but even in September there were times we were standing, so be prepared to possibly have to stand and hold your child- sometimes people aren't respectful enough to give up their seats.

If you want to be close to Classic Hall, I would suggest requesting a 50's or 70's building. To my knowledge, they aren't too far out, but far enough that it's a little more quiet (which was one of your concerns.) IMO the preferred rooms really aren't worth the extra $$. If you want a quiet room, the preferred rooms have a good chance of being near the noisy hippie dippy pool, and some of the preferred rooms are actually just as far as some of the closer 50s and 70s rooms. Our room in the 70s section was closer to the busses than a lot of the 60s rooms because we could cut through the back parking lot.

In a nutshell, I would say...
if it's just 1-2 adults and a 15 month old- definitely stay at Pop.
The rooms are a good size for that small number of people.
Your little one will love the theming and all the BIG characters.
Don't get a preferred room- save your $$$ for souvies
Request the 70s or maybe 50s.
Bring a stroller that is easy to collapse and don't overload it.
Have a great time- I can't wait until we can go back!

I just hope I didn't waste $$ to get into the preferred section. Maybe I should call them, to make sure I get a non-smoking room.

Hi There are several large screen t.v's in the food court a very noisy area but fun for the children and crazy adults like me. On the other side of the food court near the coffee bar it is more relaxed and less noise. I

maxsmom - While POP is definitely not as close to the "action" as the Swan, I wouldn't consider it timbukto. When you need to use the bus at the Swan for MK & MGM, you also share with the Dolphin, BW, YC and BC. That means stops going to and coming home from the parks. POP has one bus stop and doesn't share with other resorts. I would consider that a plus with a 15 mo old.

We had a 60s building in January and really enjoyed it, but if you want quiet, I would not suggest a room overlooking the pool. It was noisy late into the night (didn't bother me - I am a sound sleeper). I would probably request the 70s building, close to the elevator, since you don't have a pool to worry about there. You will still be close to the food court, bus stops but won't have a lot of noise to worry about. The buildings ARE close. WL is just under one roof, so things feel closer there. I feel the bus service was better at POP versus WL.

It was good. We spend most of our time at the parks so we really just needed a place to drop for the night.

-Arrived at 1pm. Room was ready. We faxed in our room request 4 days before as advised someone earlier on this thread. Our requests were simple and they gave us just what we wanted. 70s, non-smoking, ground floor, 2 doubles.
-We borrowed a hand cart on the way in for our luggage so that we could get settled right away.
-Room was clean.
-No worries about the temperature. My thermostat never moved from where I set it.
-Curtains do overlap but some light still came in on the edges.
-Food court was fine.
---We had breakfast one morning and the pancakes were a bit too dark for DD. Just brought them back & they gave her a whole new breakfast.
---We didn't have the Mom's Dinners but it looks like they have changed to repeat the meals more frequently. There were only 3 different meals for the 7 days - Sat, Sun & Mon was Buttermilk Chicken, I can't recall the other 4 days other than I noted that they repeated.
-We relied strictly on bussing. Never had a long wait leaving the resort. I liked having the queue lines when leaving the resort. The harder part was always knowing the POP lines to get back to the resort were the farthest away - at least for MK and Epcot.
-Pools were nice and heated.
-Pop jets were fun for the kids.
-I didn't find it noisy other than a couple of mornings in a row it seemed that someone above us was closing the door repeatedly against the door lock latch just a little before we were ready to get up.

This is probably the forum I need to ask this on. I have booked the Pop for our upcoming Florida trip and have a few questions. Do the rooms at Pop have a coffeemaker? If not may I request one at check-in? Also does the resort provide coffee or do I have to supply my own? And one last question, when requesting where to stay I would like to stay where there is the least amount of noise, regardless of how much walking we would have to do..need suggestions please. Thanks for any information.

I'm not sure about the coffeemaker, but if you're looking for the quietest rooms, regardless of the walk, I'd ask for the 90's

There are no coffeemakers in the rooms. You would have to bring your own from home if you want one in the room. They do have coffee in the Food Court though.

The 90's building (and 80's for that matter) has the potential of being loud, if you're on the pool side. We walked over there late one night and there was a group of teens in the pool being quite loud and obnoxious.

So even if we request a coffee maker they will not honor this request? Do any of the value resorts have coffemakers in them? I know this seems like a small issue but I really don't want to have to bring one from home.

I've stayed at AS Music and Movies and they did not have coffee makers.

Does anyone know if there is a place in Everything POP to buy milk, lunch meat, cheese and bread? Also, can fruit easily be gotten here? We are trying to decide whether or not to use a shopping service. We will not have a car.

Also, we are arriving at POP around 11:00 P.M. on a Tuesday. Is there any way to increase our chances of getting a room in the buildings we have requested (50's or 70's)? I am concerned that they will all be gone that late at night.

Milk is not included as a drink choice in the refillable mug, right? What about apple juice?

Milk isn't included with the mugs, but apple juice is.

We bought grapes, melon, strawberries, and saw bananas - there may have been other fruit.

There was small cheese samplers. If you want cheese slices for sandwiches, I don't know about that or the bread. We bought the milk "chugs", but I'm pretty sure that I've read that there's a bigger size available.

I saw slices of bread for sale in the food court but I didn't see any whole loaves of bread for sale.
