Not that you need another response ;) but we also have Verizon and used it throughout the parks with no problem- even calling to PA and MD. I actually called my mom during Spectromagic because it is her absolute favorite, but she couldn't really hear it due to the reverb of the music :(

I just got back after a week at Pop Century - what a great deal for a value resort.

I absolutely loved the atmosphere! My daughter and I walked around on our last morning and got some great photos!

My one disappointment was that I scheduled one full day at the pool (I sat at the bowling pin pool and worked), and they were power washing the sidewalks. It was really loud, and literally took about five hours. I couldn't hear the music for that entire time. I figured it was just bad luck, picking the day they cleaned, but the lifeguard said they do it about once a week! Has anyone else encountered this annoyance?

When I was there in January/February they were soaping/washing the sidewalk between Classic Hall and the main pool but they were doing that in the evening when I got back from a day at the parks. From your account they were working during the day. What day of the week was that?

Glad you enjoyed your trip otherwise.

They were cleaning on a Wednesday. I asked the lifeguard if there were a particular day it was done, and they said they didn't think there was a scheduled day.

Other than that, though, we absolutely loved Pop. I think I liked it better than the moderates, but not as much as the deluxe hotels (duh!). :earboy2:

DisneyaHolic, what section were you in? I'm glad you liked Pop so much!!!

When I was there, it was a single person who did the power washing. Each day, she'd do another section.

I have read most of this thread and can't wait until we go on Monday (April 18th). We are staying at POP and are about to 'pop' with excitement.

I have one question. I saw that it was asked but didn't see an answer.

Can we get from POP to the Grand Floridian with buses or monorail? My DD and I are going to the Princess Tea Party there. We have rented a car to get us to and from airport, but would like to leave the car if possible for hubby to get around while DD and I are at the tea party.

Would anyone know of the best way to get from POP to the Grand Floridian?

Thanks so much!

Probably your best bet, is to ride the bus to MK, and then ride the monorail to GF

Have a great trip. :sunny:

Just a guess:
Take bus to MK and then monorail to GF for the tea party.
Perhaps someone more experienced could also give their opinion on this.

PS - Have a great vacation. You sound very excited!!!!

Yup! We took the bus to the MK and then the monorail to the GF for Cinderella's gala feast.. Be sure to leave your self plenty of travel time!

I have some questions: :confused3

1- Do POP room have hair dryers or irons? If not can we request one from room service
2- wake up calls?
3- Turn down service?
4-how far in advance do you request room or other requests?
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP

10 DAYS AND WE ARE THERE!!! WHOOO HOOOOOO! :cool1:  :cool1:

I'm going to try and help you out.

I know that you can request hair dryers.

Wake up calls can be set each night through the phone and Mickey will wake you up!

Room requests...I think you do that about a week in advance. I know that is what I did.

Maybe someone <like Tyler> can help you out more!!! :p
HAVE A GREAT TIME...It's so exciting when you are getting ready to go. :wizard:

Turn down service> Only the deluxe resorts offer turn down service, and even some of those only offer it to concierge if they are very busy. DS and I get a kick out of turndown service and miss it when we're not at AKL so we'd turn down our own beds, put the tv on low, and give the room a quick clean up before we'd leave for our evening park hopping. Come back to the room and there would be our beds waiting for us!
requests> I'd call CRO and make sure they are noted on your reservations. We've always been lucky with requests noted that way.

We returned from Pop Century last week - we loved it. They have an iron and ironing board in every room. You can request hair dryers. I requested connecting rooms and the 50's building when I made my reservations and then I faxed my request about 5 days before we arrived. Both requests were granted. :flower:
Have a great time.

Do you have the fax number? I had it and lost it. We will be leaving in a little over a week. So I need to be faxing my request soon.

Pop Century fax: 407-938-4040

Hope this helps :sunny:

We may be bringing a laptop with us during our POP stay. What options are available for internet connetion? He typically connects wireless but I have read that isn't an option at POP. Is there a cable connection available in the room or just a phone jack? Anyone know the charges $$ ?

Thanks!

Before I could fax anything, I just got a call from WDW today confirming my reservations. She said she is blocking the the rooms for us and wanted to confirm our reservation. So this would be 10 days before we arrive on April 25th. She read to me everything I had requested to make sure it was correct.

We went to WDW in Oct. and no one called me for that trip. Perhaps because this time I requested 3 rooms? I'm getting really excited.

There is a data port under the table so that you don't have to unplug the phone. Not sure about the charges though- sorry.

there is a jack under the table, but the phone itself actually has a datajack on it as well. there is no provided net access, I use my mothers juno account,(I have cable at home). and it is a local call from pop(I selected their reedy creek #) and it is 75 cents per call(but since local, there is no per minute charges)
