Thanks for all the quick replies! :thumbsup2

disneyin2008- that's sweet, thank you. but we'll be there 11/8-11/12. and my two DDs will turn 12 and 14 while we are there, so I can sneak out and bring back the cake, and just "deliver" it myself.

As for the arcade, well, I'll find out for sure when I get there. But I figure one trip, $25 each is my limit. (ok, maybe a few bucks for me, too, if they have skee-ball...)

Goofy22- my kids will miss 2 days of school, as well. But what the heck. They both get really good grades, and I can't help it if they weren't born during summer vacation... :rotfl:

Thanks again for all the quick replies- Frommers and Birnbaum can't hold a candle to this board!!

They do have Skee-Ball about 5 or 6 lanes of it if I am remembering correctly. They are in the back on the left hand side. I played them a lot on our last stay at POP....

Confirmed, we will be at POP Oct. 13-20! Just got the code, and DIDNT have to switch resorts for once!

Ya we got that code to, my DS changed his mind when to go. Now Its march, the end of March:rotfl: oh well get to see Disney that much sooner

Can someone tell me about them?? i requested one and the lady said it was a crib/packnplay?? Is it just like a regular play pen? thanks so much!:)

..... Our first trip to WDW, I "contacted" Cinderella and had her call my girls on their birthday and invite them to come visit. They were absolutely speechless and it was the best birthday present I've ever thought up, lol. ......maybe we could have my twin daughters dress in their Princess outfits (not authentic of course) and deliver your cake for you.

Awe and Awe!

Hi!
Been snooping around this website for the last couple weeks in anticipation of our upcoming trip in a little over 2 months (Jan 2nd to 8th) and finally decided to join. My wife and I are taking my Mom to WDW for her birthday (Always been her dream, been to DLR 100's of times but no WDW). If I can just make it through my 5th deployment to Iraq...

Anyways I have researched and found the POP to have no fitness facilities. In making contact with guest relations they notified me that I could use the "world class" fitness centers at any other resort (which those resort guests get to use for free) for the "reasonable" (I use the term lightly) price of $12 a visit. Using my high school education I took $12 and multiplied it by 7 days and came up with a total of $84. I could get a membership for 3 months at 24 hr. Fitness for that much money. Personally I don't think I should have to pay for it considering I am spending $3,000 for a vacation (that is beside the point). I was wondering if anyone knew any good running routes near POP or maybe a good kind of quiet route that I don't have the chance of getting nailed by a car. Any input would be awesome.

I look forward to chatting it up in here.

If you look at Pop Map on first page ,you will see a pathway by the lake !! Not sure of distance to run, but I saw many early morning joggers and walkers on it. It is completely safe as the only traffic is the resort vehicles!!

Pop does not have a fitness facility but they have a beautiful trail around the lake behind the resort. If your into running that would be the perfect place since there is no traffic. You would have to run back and forth along the lake but it is a pretty view. I think the idea with the facilities costing more is that they are only in the pricier resorts which would take some time out of your day to travel to and from as well. Another thing that I have done is power walk around the lake in Epcot. Just in case your not aware you will also be walking a lot in the parks. I take my pedometer and it has shown between 5 and 12 miles a day of walking at the parks. You could also make yourself the fast pass runner and get in extra exercise as well. No weight machines but lots of free cardio to be had.

I checked around for the same thing and found a great jogging trail map with mileage here.

As I'll be heading to POP right after you, be sure and post how the trail was, if you end up using it. :thumbsup2

Not a runner but have friends who run while @POP and I can check with them on specifics but personally think early in the am POP would be a great place to run! :thumbsup2

Bless you! Be safe! Thank you!

Disney Mommy, thank you so much for posting the jogging trail. I just started running and was worried about keeping it up during my trip. I'm so excited now! Thank you :woohoo:

Well, the Walmart I know of is about 5 miles away.....according to mapquest.........from Pop you would turn left on Century Drive, right onto Victory Way, right onto E Buena Vista, then take the ramp towards the airport and merge onto Epcot Center Drive which becomes Highway 536 East. Turn right on Apopka Vineland and it's less than a mile up that street.

Anyone know if this Walmart carries prepared foods such as Chicken & JoJos and such. We're getting a car for one day on our arrival day so we can get some groceries and we were thinking about just getting dinner there and taking it back to the room to save a few $$.

Re: Pack n play - the one they gave us was just a standard pack and play. I believe they also included a sheet.

I hear ya! Mine aren't born over summer break either ! One is the second week of school! LOL! and the other is February Superbowl week! :) So I know exactly where you are coming from! I usually also take my kids out for vaca but DD started High School this year and I didn't want to do that to her I thought it was a big enough adjusment without a vaca thrown in! So we went in the end of August thru Sept and we had FREE Dining so were Bouncing Back again with Free Dinig it's great!
As others have stated also the crib is only a regular pack n play!

Thanks for the great website, I had never even seen it before. I just printed out the picture so I use it. I will probably end up doing the entire loop about 6 or 7 times early in the morning so hopefully it is not too crowded on the walk ways. Also that website also has a forum and I found a great route for my trip to Disneyland Paris! Sweet I am all set for the next 2 years!

12 miles a day!? Wow it sure didn't feel like I was walking that much last year. I believe you though. I just like to push myself to the limits and as much as I LOVE walking around WDW I want the extra run in the morning as my stress relief for the coming day or screaming kids and people (guests) being rude at the parks (I will tell that story another time).

Speaking of fitness, I do now plan on bringing a small swiss ball and a resistance band so I can work the abs while I am there. So if anyone sees me around POP doing some weird exercises just know it is me.

Kind of off subject but I am going to be running my first marathon in Jan. 2010 at WDW. I am currently in the process of training to do it.

Thanks again to all of your replies. I am sure not that is not the best way to make my first post, complaining about something. I am super stoked about our up coming trip. I worked at DLR and still cannot kick that Disney bug :wizard: . My wife thinks I am a freak!

You're welcome!

That's exactly what I'm doing! I decided to do the WDW marathon, and it's too soon for me to swing the money for next year's, but I've started training and I will be there come the following January. I'm only in my second week of training, but I was planning ahead for our trip in January, so I searched the internet for running trails and found that site.

It's crazy, but like I told my family, "whatever it takes to motivate me, right?"

We will be staying at POP 12/16- 12/21. We stayed at POP one night on a previous vacation before checking in CBR. To be honest, POP was not my 1st choice but it was good for the budget. From what I have read on the board, POP may be close to full on our dates and I am concerned about the "loudness" of the resorts and the buses. Like many posters mention, we don't need any special room or perks just a "Quiet" place to sleep and a shower. So I guess, I'm asking for your opinions/reassurance that we will get some rest and it won't be miserable on the buses. My boys are 9 & 3 and they are not happy campers when they don't sleep. By the way, we will have a car so we could drive to the parks but the boys like riding on the buses at least a few times.

This will be our second stay at Pop...1st was May 2005. I've never had a problem with noise. We usually stay at a value resort and I have never had am issue at any of them.

In my own opinion I prefer driving to the parks. Last year during our visit we tryed out the buses to get between parks and DTD. I was miserable. The days we did drive our car were great. We had free reign of when we wanted to leave and at the end of the night we weren't stuck fighting other people for a spot on the bus. But that is just one guys opinion. This is going to be my first time staying at POP and my only concern is the hike to the parking lot. I really don't mind walking but when I am with the wife I usually get stuck carrying all the bags... :lmao:

JC1984 & Disney Mommy, Congratulations on training for your first full! I'm training for my first full at WDW 09. I can't wait!!!

Good to know the running path around POP, I'm staying there in Jan and will need a little morning run time.
