Hi

When requesting a location @ Pop is it ok to ask for a specific room or a range of rooms?

Thanks!

The later part of March is busier. This is what I found. When Easter is in March, the crowds are LESS, as most places still have spring break in April no matter when Easter falls. It was like night and day, this year from last year on the crowd level. So much lighter this year. It also seem like college spring breaks were changed to earlier this year, since Easter was earlier, but I don;t know for sure. All I know is this year was much less busy on the same exact week. I enjoyed the time more with out bumping into people constantly like last year. On our full MK day last year ,we rode next to nothing and most of what we did ride was AFTER the fireworks.

I have heard they prefer you to ask for an area, ove a room number, but I know lot do and get it or near it.

The room number was included in the area we asked for. No one seemed to have a problem with it.

OK all of you POP fans...I need advice and words of wisdom.

DH really wants to stay at Poly - his first visit to Disney and he's less than enthused but doing it for the kids (and me). If I EVER want him to go back then I need to try to make sure it's a stress and hassle free trip....as much as possible. If we stay at Poly, we can only stay 6nts ($$$$$!!!) but if I do a Pop/Poly spit, we can do a total of 8nts....and still cost less. I was thinking of 3nts POP and 5nts Poly.

The problem is....I want to do the dining plan

THANK YOU!
Melanie

Melanie,

My husband really gets frustrated if there is any stress in the trip at all so I am right there with you! One thing you could do is start with Pop as a package and get the dining plan. Maybe save a meal or two each for the check out day from Pop. Then you still have the whole day of check out from POP to use your meals-- which will be a full day of Poly still using up your credits. Then just stay at Poly as a room only reservation and try to get a discount on that reservation. That's a nice way to enjoy a fewmeals that make the dining plan so great.

The problem is....I want to do the dining plan (I THINK....waiting for 2009 info to come out, but I THINK I want dining unless it goes up a ton!) and I do NOT want to pay extra for the tickets by adding on an extra day for everyone at the 2nd hotel. So ONE booking (POP) needs to be hotel only.

Would it make sense to start out at Poly for 5nts with 8day tickets and meal plan and THEN move to POP for 3 nts and use the remaining tickets and pay out of pocket for meals. (I figure we'll save AK and DHS for while we're at Pop and there's aren't many sit down meals at those places that we care about anyhow....) Will I regret going to Poly first and will Pop then be a huge let down????

THANK YOU!
Melanie
I really enjoy Pop as you can see it is the resort I have stayed at most but I truely LOVE the Poly-just don't love the price. I would probably choose Poly for 6 nights in hopes of winning over DH. The rooms are beautiful, huge, very comfy beds. The view of Wishes from the beach is great. Gotta love the tiki torches and watching the castle change colors at night.

I would NOT go from Poly to Pop.

You may want to consider getting and AP for you or DH then you could get the DDP without purchasing park tickets for your split stay. You could also purchase the Disney Dining Experience discount card which gives you 20% discount on out of pocket table service dining-such as alcohol. Since Pop doesn't have TS you can use it at the food court there. It costs $65 so you need to spend $300 to be worth the purchase.

Another option you might want to consider is getting DDP at Pop and getting concierge service at Poly.

Request a room in Tokelau or Hawaii.
Hawaii is concierge-she'll have to pay for that.

I would go to Poly for the six days and do the DDP. That way your hubby gets a taste of the best that WDW has to offer, and he will get spoiled. :) You might have a better chance then of going longer next time! ;) Good luck!

Exactly what I was thinking!

Quick question for all you Pop experts...

My DH & I will be staying at Pop this September. On our arrival day, we'll be checking in about 12:30 or 1 in the afternoon. I KNOW we'll be pretty hungry by the time we arrive and we'll want to have a little something to eat. However, we have a really early dinner ressie that evening (4:30...:scared1:) so we don't want to eat too much.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a very light lunch/snack from the Pop food court? I've seen the menu, but I'm not sure what's good. Any suggestions? I'll probably post this on the restaurant board as well, but I figured you all would be the experts!

The cheese and fruit plate is pretty light and very tasty!!

I would look at the kids meals and get something on those menus. You could split an order of something - lo mein, salad, or sandwich. Pop offers a lot of variety. There are a lot of options in the grab and go section also.

I can vouch for the Asian Chicken salad and the tie dyed cheesecake.

jenseib - A girl after my own heart! I am DEFINITELY the type of person to skip the healthy stuff and go straight for the dessert! :rotfl: And I LOVE cheesecake!!!

Minnie Lor - the asian salad sounds like something my DH would like. I'll suggest that to him. :thumbsup2 So, what does the tie-dye cheesecake taste like? I've seen pictures, but I can't even begin to imagine what it's like. Is it just normal cheesecake with food coloring?

We didn't like it. It's just plain cheesecake and much more colorful than flavorful. ;) But it's one of those things everyone should try once.

Now, I did like the cheesecake but it was plain cheesecake with coloring. The bottom is red velvet cake instead of your traditional graham cracker crust. Got to have it once. It's a Pop tradition.

They have all sorts of snacks (bags of chips, cookies, crackers), fruit(apples, oranges, etc..), sweets (carrot cake, chocolate cake, puddings, jello) and the most talked about Tie-Dye cheesecake. If you are on the Dining plan, these are considered snacks.

But there also meals that you can split also. And these meals are Quick Service meals, which is the main entree, drink and dessert.

I liked the cheesecake too, but did not like the crust. But it's big enough for me that I was too full to eat ht he crust anyways. LOL! And with all the walking at Disny I never gained weight while on any of my trips
