If I don't bring my laptop- is their pc access anywhere close- is it free or how much does it cost? THanks, Jen

I'd like to bring my laptop but I'm concerned about having a "safe" place to keep it in my room while we are out. Any suggestions? Is there a computer with internet access at POP or any other resort that resort patrons can use?

I'm trying to decide where to request a room. I really don't like the idea of paying for a prefered room. However, I like the idea of being fairly close to the food court. I'd like to feel comfortable allowing my kids to go get a snack and drink refill on their own. I would love to be in one of the rooms that have the lake and fireworks views (top floor 50's or 60's I believe). The kids want to stay in the 80's, why I have no idea:confused3
So...how far of a walk is it really from the 80's and from the back of the 50's or 60's up to the food court area?

Thanks, this is a great thread! I've learned so much about POP and am so excited to go!

I would request building 3 or 4 lakeview. It doesn't really matter if you are on the top floor- you can always head up the stairwell for a better view. (I like the first floor rooms myself- quicker and easier with tired feet!)Those would be not preferred and close to the food court area and have a view of the fireworks. Not sure about the 80's, but I've stayed in the 70's and it was nice and close.

I have a question, my reservation e-mail said

"Classic - ZMB"

does that mean anything such as building and or room location?

Classic Years(only option- Legendary Years not built)
ZMB sounds like a discount or package code to me

Yes check back with them tomorrow. I made reservations on Friday and got the e-mail confirmation late Saturday. Maybe there is an issue with your e-mail address.

Thanks for taking the time.:) I called them today and they said I should get it in a week.

I've requested a room in the 80's section. From what I've read, it takes about 4 to 5 minutes to get to the food court\bus area. I'm not too sure about the other buildings, judging from a map, it should be around the same. You're right about the 50's and 60's buildings being the ones with fireworks view. Hope you have a great trip no matter where you stay. :thumbsup2

We had preferred rooms 4th floor of 60's. I would not pay for preferred again as the elevators are in the middle so you either have to walk down or up 4 flights or walk back to elevator. Loved the lakeside area though . This time I requested 1st floor Lakeside 50's or 60's !!

They have a safe in each room that is about the size of a laptop.

On the Pop Picture thread, you'll find this post that has great pictures of the safe. One photo has an 8.5" x 11" notepad that will give you a very good perspective. You'll see there's not much more space width-wise. I know my laptop would not fit in that space, but no doubt some would.

Good Morning Pop Peeps -
DGD13 wants to get her hair braided right before our 4 day cruise in May. I remember there was someone near the Hippy Dippy pool, but don't know any details or even if it is still available.

Has anyone gotten hair braided at POP? Cost? Appointment needed? TIA

I think it sounds like a code too. Did you get a discount or use a code?

I booked a package, 7 days park tickets, Disney dining, magic express with special requests for a ground floor room, fridge to store essential medications as I am disabled.

I got the quote online but called to add the special requests
I asked about discounts and codes and was told there was none for the dates I will be in the world.

While I have been to WDW and DL many times, I always used a TA. This time I did all the bookings myself.

In Dec. they were braiding hair at POP near hippy dippy pool. They are set up as first come first serve. I have never seen a huge line. I can not remember the cost, but they do charge flat fee for beads chosen and then so much per inch for the wrap. I wanted to give you a tip that we learned several years ago. Have your daughters hair braided from the bottom down.Have her hair braided from the underneath and not from the top of the part. I hope I am saying this right. The lady told us that this method would also not pull her hair and thus less breakage and will last longer. We had our dd done just in front of the ear. The braid never falls in her face either this way. This will also save you the cost of several inches. In our case this comes out to about 1/2 the cost if we had done the longer version.Enjoy !!

Is this like corn roll braiding, like they do in the bahama's? I'm not sure what the wrap is? Just curious.

Has anybody ever checked in early at POP? Our flight will be arriving at MCO at 10:10 am... I know it's going to be an hour or more until we are actually at POP, but its still going to be a few hours before 3 pm, and we really want to check into our hotel before we hit Magic Kingdom.

We actually checked in at 8am last year and just left our luggage there, got our park passes and off we went! When we came back around 3ish, we got in our room, unpacked and were ready to head out for dinner. In fact, we PLAN to get there early to take full advantage of the full day in the park!

that is great since we are heading to POP after staying the night at Days Inn the night before.

One question do I buy my TL ahead of time or do I buy them at the park? This is the only day I will be spending there.

They wrap a small strand of hair in colored thread. My DD gets a wrap every trip to Disney. It's not anything like corn rows, which are really costly. Ican post a picture if you want.

Definitely no appointment needed or available. My dd wanted to get her hair wrapped while we were there and the booth was never open when we were at the resorts. Definitely find out what the hours are (it is run by an outside vendor) so you can be back from the parks. The cart is set up between the Hippy Dippy Pool and the entrance to the Food Court.

Hope that helps.

Yes it's by Petals Pool?Hippy Hoppy and as I remember it was $2 an inch so long hair is expensive!!

It is indeed $2 an inch. It is for wrapping which is NOT corn rowing.

here is what I do about cornrowing.... I call around to local salons, especially those that specialize in women of color, and set up appointments for my girls. I, generally, can find someone willing to cornrow caucasian hair here in my small town. I always get the lecture about it not lasting more than 4 days or so, but that is fine. It is 4 less days that I have to braid or coerce my curly headed girls' hair to cooperate in the humidity. I pay about $30 per child to have it braided to the point a headband would be located.

Does anyone know if they still have the "Pop Century" refillable mugs for sale at Pop, or have they now switched over to the Year of a Million Dreams ones? When we were at French Quarter last month we were hoping to get a resort specific mug but they only had the new ones. We really like them but have collected mugs from all of the resorts we have stayed at. We don't have any Port Orleans ones, and our Pop ones are "well loved" and some new ones are due.

Either would be fine, just wondering...

Thanks!

Year of a Million Dreams. This year's mug looks just like last year's but has no date.
