Hi,

We will be there the same time!! We (me and DD 13) will leave Monday, May 30 through June 10th. So excited. Planning now. Not sure where we should ask to stay. Did not get a preferred room. What do you think? Seeing the fireworks would be nice. Do you plan out your days? I'm starting to look at these things now.

We are going to POP 5/31 ~ 6/8 this will be our 3rd time at POP. I have stayed at Poly, AK, Cont, WL, All Sports....POP by far is the best!!! Last trip we started out at POP and moved to AK and my kids wanted to go back. Look out POP here we come only 75 days!!!!!

I will see you both there. :goodvibes 5/27-6/5 :banana:
After this snowapalooza winter this vacation can not get here soon enough!!!!!

we will be there for our first trip May 27-June 2!!! Me, Dh, Dd ( 4) and dd (who will be 2 months)

We got a preferred room and will call with a request closer to when we go. I am thinking 50's building??? Any recommendations? We will be renting a car too, but would like to try to get something close to the pool, yet quiet at night so we can try to sleep ;)

I will see all of you there also! :) If you see a couple with two red head boys.. that's us! (most likely... not a lot of people have two red headed boys! LOL)
:rotfl:

Thank you for checking, I am going to get a better cooler this year. Hopefully it will be less headache, the one I brought last summer was really thin and poorly insulated.

Thanks again!

On a recommendation from a friend we decided to buy this electric cooler. We too were in search for an in-room fridge and didn't want to spent the 12$ a day. I know we'll use it plenty including the 14 hour drive down and back home!

Hi, there!

Thanks for this awesome thread! I have learned so much, browsing through all the discussions!

We are booked to stay at Pop this fall. (My third time to Disney, but first as an adult. My husband and kids' very first time to ever go!!!)

We are all super excited!!!! (And I'm becoming obsessed with thinking and planning our trip...even though it's still so very far away...) I just can't wait!!!!!!

I have a question regarding food selections at Pop's Food Court. I've read that at restaurants, you just mention your food restrictions and then speak with a chef...but I was wondering about when I need to dine at Pop's food court. Are there many vegan selections? I am not able to eat any dairy, and have to limit my consumption of animal protein to next to nil. Any tips on what I could order?

We have numerous restaurant reservations planned, mostly for dinner. So I am curious as to vegan breakfast and lunch options mainly.

Any tips for me at Pop's food court? Or should I just plan to bring my own food for these meals?

TIA!

I would think you could ask the staff at the various counters .Have you checked the menus on allears to see if anything looks okay!!

We have decided to add a day on to the end of our stay at POP this May. I am thinking of doing a room only so i don't have to pay for the extra day of dining. We have until midnight that night to use our dining credits right? (original stay 22-30, so we have until midnight the 30th) Leaving on the 31st and having breakfast that morning at 1900.:goodvibes

Is there a way to be able to stay in the same room or am I going to have to move?

Got back from POP about a week ago. Thanks to all for all the advice! I knew just how to handle the larger than expected crowds in the cafeteria and we had a wonderful room!

We stayed in Room 3435. Lakeside in the "Tramp" building, and were able to watch Illuminations on our arrival night right from our window! It was nice and quiet, and really cool being able to see Spaceship Earth each night when we returned from the parks.

I will post some pics later, but just wanted to say "Thank You!" :wizard:

I have read every post on this thread now in the past 4 days! :) You guys are the best!

We are going to Pop May 29th - June 4th. We were going May 28th, but my brother decided that was the day that he was getting married (after moving the date 3 times over 2 years) so we pushed it back a day.

We have stayed at Pop before and we LOVED it. That was back in 08 when my older son was 2.5. He is now 5 and my baby will be turning two next month.

I have put bed rails on our reservation. We want (after reading this thread) a room where we can see the fireworks if at all possible. We'll probably be back and the boys asleep most nights, and it would be nice for dh and I to just stand outside our door and watch them.

We don't mind a walk from the room to anywhere, b/c well it's Disney! We figure we'll be walking!! Last time we were in the 70s on the back side and that seemed pretty close to everything.

Anyway, now I'm ready to start planning and get going! :)

Enjoy your trip! I have seen the fireworks there too! Not sure which area of the property we were on at the time but even if you have to walk around the resort and find a good spot, you can see them. :)

Glad you enjoyed your trip. I go durning off sesaon September so I have never really expereinced a crazy food court. Busy sometimes but never were would couldn't find a seat. But we don't eat breakfest either and usually eat dinner around 530 to 630.

WOOT my ticker is under 6 months now!!

Hello fellow POPsters!

I will be there in 16 days!!!!:hyper: I wanted to ask your expertise on "Preferred Rooms". Does anyone know which buildings these are? We also requested (I know, it's not guaranteed) a king bed, are these spread throughout the buildings? The king bed is more important than the preferred room, can we forgoe our preferred room for that? I'll be doing on-line check in next week and will request that.

Thanks to everyone in advance, this is a great thread!:thumbsup2

Can you really see the fireworks from the 50s building? I think we stayed in the 90s areas all the times we have gone (Computer pool). I think it was a decent walk to the buses and food but no one cared. But I'd love a view of the fireworks if possible!!!

My DD 13 and I will be there during that time as well, May 31-June 7th. Maybe our DD's will meet at the pool, my DD always seems to make friends there.
We've got our days planned out, but still fine-tuning everything. So much planning, but so exciting!

And this map (http://disneyworldlinks.com/tools/PopCenturyRoomLayoutLarge.jpg) explains the location and number of the king-size bed rooms. It appears it's possible to get a preferred king bed room, but that is a narrow selection in each of the preferred buildings.

As for online check-in, unless things have changed, you won't be able to make a king-bed room request via that system. The room request choices are limited to ground floor, near transportation, fridge, and pack-n-play (crib).

So you all would now suggest to skip the online check in and try to get your requests in person? Or no?

Our flight comes in at 1:30pm. I don't really care what room we get. I would LOVE a view of the lake and one of the fireworks. So when the boys are asleep dh and I can watch them. (a little magical) :) But, really it doesn't matter to us at all where we end up. We didn't do a room request or anything.

Should I request a lake view now? Or wait until I get there and just see if one is open and if not, oh well?

Also, I know this isn't the dinning thread. But, I am so confused. This is the first time we have been on a dinning plan. We of course have it for dh and I, and my ODS (age 5) but not for YDS (age 2).

When dh booked it they said they didn't care how we used the plan, that once our credits were gone.... they were gone. We could use them all in a day if we wanted. :lmao:

But, then reading the dinning thread it seems like they do put a restriction on it. I was thinking if both my boys seem very hungry that I could order 2 kids meals... and end up paying OOP later on if needed. But, they are saying since we only have one kid on our plan, than we can only order one kid meal. Is this true?

It's not a huge deal b/c well, my 5 year old eats nothing most of the time.. but just in case. Thought I should find out.

We LOVE our portable cooler like this but.....JUST BE CAREFUL and DO NOT leave it plugged in for any extended period of time when your car is not running. We went to a softball tournament, turned off our car to go into a game (2 hours) but left the cooler plugged in. We were going to check into our hotel right after the game and use it there. When we got into the car, it had zapped our battery :headache: We learned our lesson and now when we are traveling we just unplug it when we go in anywhere and it keeps everything cooled, then we plug it back in when we get back in the car.

I don't think there is anyway to know for sure until you check in - but I would bet that they will do everything they can to keep you in the same room. :) The CM's at POP are wonderful and very accomodating.:)

You can call and add a request - but it is my understanding that room assignments are now done by a computer. It won't hurt to put in a request - I also think online check in makes no difference when it comes to room reqests. We checked in on line this past August with a room request - when we arrived we were not in that section. I simply asked the CM at the online check in desk and he happily switched us. :)

hmmm. I am not sure about your situation. It is my understanding that you can only order the amount of meals based on the KTTW card. In other words, if you show 2 adults and 1 child on the dining plan, then that is the amount of credits you will be allowed to use at one time. That being said I am not 100% sure. Perhaps someone on the dining plan thread can confirm.

Here's my opinion: While I am NO EXPERT on the DP nor have I had any children on the DP, DH and I have used the DP for 3 trips (we love it) but here;s my thoughts. I have to imagin if the 4 of you are standing in line the CM will only let you use 1 child meal and 2 adults. BUT I can't imagin how they would know if you and DH SPLIT up with one kid each in a different lane and each used one Adult and One Child CS! I can't imagin the card can see what time you used each CS and not allow the you to use an additional credit. My understanding is that it is the CM who won't allow this:confused3 not sure why ( I figure you pay for it, it's yours to use in any matter you want) what if you have a VERY Hungry child, you can't get let that child have 2 meals? Sometimes DH and I will split things we want to try not might not like and get something else to eat!

Anywhoo that's my personal take on the ? Good Luck!:thumbsup2
