My family and I will be staying at POP 11/27-12/2 and have preferred rooms. I know it's already posted in this thread so I apologize in advance but is there a "preferred" area or block of rooms that's more beneficial than the others?
I know some have mentioned the 4th floor, facing the lake, etc and a lot of it depends on who you're traveling with.
I also saw some posts about faxing in your recommendations? I apologize for all the questions but if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it!

Here is the link showing the preferred locations:

We have stayed at POP 3 times and have never stayed in a preferred section so I can't speak from experience..but I would be happy to share my unofficial thoughts;):
There are no preferred rooms that face the lake. We stayed in a non-preferred room in the 60's (building 5) that faced the lake and it was a PERFECT location.
Outside the preferred room in the 50's in the smoking area. Not sure if that matters to you...just wanted to make note of it for you. I know some folks have issues with allergies. This would not be a good spot if you were concerned about it.
The rooms in the 60's are clearly the most centrally located. But a lot of those rooms face the pool. We have been there during some busy times and the pool areas can be pretty *lively* late into the night. If *quiet* is a priority for you, you may want to request something not facing a pool.
HTH! :goodvibes

Sorry to post back but I'm so new I can't "pm" you. I guess since I've already paid for preferred rooms I can't "turn back". I really appreciate the info on the 50's smoking area, something I would like to avoid. I've scoured this thread and have basically come up with that the 4th floor is ideal,as is something facing the lake. We really are looking for something quiet and I know I relayed that when I made the initial reservation. We need connecting rooms so any thoughts on something quiet (not facing the pool) that is still close to the bus pickup? I know,I'm looking for the perfect room :)

I have never stayed in a preferred room and never had a problem. The property really isn't that big and it's quick to get around. I would say the 50's section is the furthest from everything - but it's our favorite spot on property. I always request the 50's - not facing the pool. It may take an extra 30 seconds to get somewhere, which to me is no big deal. As far as 'no turning back'; yes, you absolutely can. If you decide you don't want the preferred, just give them a call and they can change your reservation. Good Luch and have fun!

I'm taking my mom to Pop in February and she would really like to stay in the 60's. Do I need to upgrade to preferred, or can I ask for 60's and if all they have is preferred then upgrade at the desk?

The 60's has both preferred and standard rooms. If you book preferred you may get a room in the 50's, 60's, or 70's. So if you really want anywhere in the 60's, add a room request for the 60's (buildings 4 or 5). The requests are not guaranteed, but there's a much better chance of getting your request fulfilled if it's on your reservation.

Thanks for the info! Sadly,I think I found this board too late to take full advantage of all the info. We have connecting rooms so I get a feeling our options won't be as plentiful.

We just stayed at POP in the 60's section on 11/21-11/22/10 --- one quick night before moving to an off-site location. I didn't pay for a preferred room (but think I might have gotten one anyways?) but loved the idea of being so close to the main bldg. Our unit overlooked the parking lot and was on the 3rd floor. We spent as much time as possible at the resort because we thought it was AWESOME! The room was very clean -- has the curtain divider like the moderate resorts, new carpet, bedspreads etc. We have previously stayed at ASMo and POR but have to say I think POP is our favortie. The theming is FUN --- love walking down memory lane. I also thought the main dining area is by far nicer than the other value resorts.

45 days until I am home again at POP! Then off on the Disney Magic. It cannot get here fast enough! :cheer2:

Are there life jackets at the pools? I wondering if I will need to dring Ds/2's jacket?

what time does the pool stay open? is it heated?

also, I can't seem to find the number to call and add room requests. I want to ask for a specific building, top floor, etc.

1 week to go!!! :banana::woohoo:

The pools are open 24 hours and they are heated. The lifeguards are there until 10:00pm (not sure if that changes seasonally). :goodvibes

You call the main reservation number to add your room requests. Some folks fax them a few days before they arrive. I don't know what the fax number is off the top of my head, but it is listed in the first page of this thread. :goodvibes

Just had to say goodbye to my beloved Pop thread. I've never posted on here but I read everyday for the past month or so, looking forward to a stay at Pop in February... but it wasn't meant to be. Release of AP rates and lack of standard rooms available at Pop have forced me to switch my reservation to ASMu... so now I'm off to search for a new thread to stalk :sad1:

WOW..72 pages and I read em all!!!

So excited about this "upcoming" trip in Aug. Driving to WDW from MAss. 7 of us (well 2 are Amtraking it) in 2 room meeting up with 2 other families in 4 other rooms. DDP free..score. My youngest 3 kids have never been and will not even know we are going until we drive in the gate! I was nervous about the value resort having only experience with the Mod's but after 72 pages I am much more confident!

As my trip gets closer I will be paying more attention to which building I would like to request!

Alison,

You may decide which building now and change your mind a dozen times before you go!!! Or maybe that's just me??? :rolleyes1

Headbeauty -

Not much time left until you are visiting the Mouse!

5 more sleeps for us  Can't believe it's here already!

Just a few last minute questions:

Taking food to go from food court - are there trays, etc. to carry stuff to room or pool side? Or should I bring something to carry stuff in. Do they pack stuff in "to go" trays? Just wondering of one of us will be able to manage it ourselves, while the other is getting kids ready in room.

Also, are all rooms refurbished now? Will be faxing in room request and not sure if I even need to specify refurbished now.

Thanks. I'm sure I'll be back quite a few more times ironing out last minute details.

I'm wondering if all the rooms are refurbished now as well. I requested top floor, facing the lake but I'm wondering if there is a building not done yet that I need to avoid?

Yes, they do have trays to carry things on. We rarely eat at the food court, usually we bring our food back to the room. I think they will package to go, but I've never asked as what we order usually doesn't need packaging (flatbreads, salads, etc.)

Thanks tebi73 and the other posted who volunteered to take pics for me of the food court signs! :worship:

I'm also particularly interested in knowing what breakfast items are available for a snack credit!

I've read through the snack credit list that jjohnson maintains but there's been some question as to whether or not the cereal comes with the milk for one credit or whether it's one credit EACH!

Anyone know the definitive answer to this one??

TIA

I have heard each one takes a credit. Only recently have I heard a few people get both for 1 credit. Maybe it has changed, but in the past it was 1 credit each.

There are no preferred rooms facing the lake. If you want to be closer to the food court and bus stops and not want poolside, you could ask for 70's.
