Don't mind at all. The bus trip to the MK from Pop is no more than 15 minutes, and its probably not even that long. The bus stop for Pop at the MK is the farthest away from the entrance, but its not bad.

It was hot. Temps were in the low 90s all week, and it was pretty humid, but definitely not unbearable. Just drink lots of water, and hit the inside attractions when you get too hot. Most everything at WDW has A/C, so you should be fine. Take sunscreen for sure though!

We usually don't do a real detailed itinerary when we go. We know what park we are going to on each given day, and we get there at rope drop, which really helps. We avoid the parks with extra magic hours, as these tend to be busier, and on days when Fantasmic is showing at the Studios, it will absolutely be busier than non fantasmic days. If you want to see it, just be prepared for the crowds. It may be a bit scary for your DD2 anyway, but it is a good show. We generally skip it now as we've seen it quite a few times.

Just make use of Fastpass if you need to for the big attractions. We really didn't need fastpass last week, but if its busy, use it for sure. You will definitely want to Fastpass Toy Story Mania at the studios, as it always has a line.

Pop was really cool, and I think your DDs will love it. Try to get in a building close to Classic Hall, as it is a big resort, and there are some rooms that are quite a walk from the bus stops. We had a blast, just can't believe how fast a week goes at WDW. Have fun, and if you need anything else, feel free to ask me.

Thank you so much for the info! I really appreciate it. We were going to skip Fantasmic, so I am glad to hear you suggest the same.

Thanks again!

We check in this Saturday too!
We stayed there last year & LOVED it! I have no doubt your kids will love it too. It is so much fun there & so thoroughly Disney. Stayed in a mod in '08 & preferred Pop 100%!

Maybe we'll run into eachother!!

Saturday, 2 more days!!! We are so excited here! We are trying not to have the days drag, but it's tough!

I am glad to hear you guys liked Pop, I think our girls really will get a kick out of all the themes! I think we will be in the 70's building on the bottom floor. We'll have a rainbow of Home Depot Mickey heads on our door...if you see us be sure to say hi!!

2 more days!!!

I know DS5 will like the toy story and dalmations theme at AS movies but I hear reviews that it is run down? And that Pop Century is cleaner/better. Should I switch to Pop? We would get a preferred room to be closer to the bus, food court, etc.

We stayed at AS Sports once in 2008 and it was perfectly fine. But we want a different resort. Help me....

We stayed at ASMo (Toy Story section) in 2008 and by no means was it run down. Granted that was 2 years ago. Some of the furniture was a little worn, but nothing terrible. My son who was 5 at the time loved it. He asked to stay there again next trip, but I want to try a new resort so we're planning on POP. I figure it's as close as I can get to the theme of movies for the kid's sake. I wasn't a fan of the buses at movies, but you already have an idea on that since you stayed at Sports. Most of the posts I've read about POP buses have been positive. I like that they have their own instead of sharing like at All Stars. I bet your son would like POP because it still has Disney type icons (Lady/Tramp, Mickey Phone, Jungle Book, etc).

We'll have magnets all over our doors too & lots of stuff in the windows! (I have my DIS alien green magnets too!) I requested 60's or 70's sections. Hope we are lucky & get what we asked for. We had 60's last year, building 5, ground floor-lake view. We loved it. We have to get connecting rooms this year, so I have no idea how that will impact our requests.

We are actually leaving tomorrow after school & spending the night in a hotel near the airport so we can leave our car there all week....we have a pretty early flight. So officially, our vacation begins tomorrow!

If I see you, I'll be sure to say hi! :thumbsup2

I have not stayed at AS Movies, just AS Music, but we do prefer the Pop. It is our favorite Value resort. There is one advantage that Pop has over all the All Stars. We always get our own bus and don't have to share. Frequently AS buses will stop at each other's resort, making the trip longer. That happened to us when we stayed at the AS Music.

Most of the rooms at the Pop are newly renovated. Some are being renovated now, so its very fresh, clean and the food court is excellent. The management at Pop is very responsive to guests needs. I highly recommend it. I'd switch if I were you. Besides, your kids might enjoy the huge Pop icons such as the giant Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head. The giant foosball table courtyard. Its alot of fun. :cheer2:

I am trying to figure out the best place to set up our Pack n' Play. I know the beds are bolted down, but how about the entertainment stand? I am not planning on completely re-arranging the room, just wondering if it can go an inch to one side or the other and only if necessary (and then put back at the end of the trip, of course)?

You can move it a it but the tv lines to the plugs are there. We always move the table closer to the window and that opens up a bunch of room. The table seems to fit the room better there.

Yay! Just did online check-in -- we'll be there in 4 days!
We are arriving pretty late (10:15 flight, 11 p.m. arrival at Pop) but I doubt with the time difference and the excitement that the kids will be ready to fall into bed immediately. Is the pool still open 24 hours? Or is that summer only? How about the food court?
Thanks!

Our first stay at the POP we used one of the Pack'N'Plays that the resort provided to us, and we placed it between the entertainment unit and the bathroom, there was enough room in that corner. This was pre-referb though.

My goodness is there ever a lot of great tips and info on this thread. We are staying at pop May 2011. It will be our first trip to disney so we are looking for all the tips we can get.;)

getting ready to make a ressie for 10-16 to 10-18 (going to MNSSHP 10-17)for my DD's 13th birthday....would prefer a room near the main pools, refurbed, and has to have connecting rooms as I will be solo the first night with 6 kids. Any advice would be appreciated. Would also like to know if the pool is 24 hours? Thanks!!

We stayed at POP Aug 23- Sept 2 (two weeks ago, but seems so much longer!)

We loved it there. Our kids didn't want to leave the resort! We were actually getting in line for parks in the morning with DD fighting that she didn't want to get on the bus because she just wanted to spend the whole trip at POP.

My only Question- should the info on the first page be updated to include bus times? I mean how long the bus takes for the drive? I just wonder because we noticed that most of the bus rides were much longer than the listed drive times. The drive to MK (once the bus had started) was usually taking close to 25 minutes, and the info on page one of this thread says 12. We had 8:05 ADR's on two mornings, so I was really watching that clock, especially the morning we spent 20 minutes waiting for a bus that showed up at 7:30! It's not just me either, if you go to the OLP transportation wizard, it suggests 22 minutes plus wait times for the MK bus.

Just Pm kristen I'm sure she is open to suggestions to improve the thread.

Thank you so much for this thread!!! Just found out we are staying at the POP in November for a Thanksgiving Disney trip. :D SO EXCITED!

Last year we put the pnp between the wall and the bed-the space between the bed and the wall that is the back of the bathroom. It seemed to fit nicely here and was out of the way.

I was talking to someone who put it behind the curtain in the bathroom area. That sounded like a great idea to me!

That is what we're hoping to do for our trip in January. I'd love to hear from someone first hand if this is possible.

We stayed at a refurbed room in the 70's section and I noticed that there was a space between the TV/dresser and a little partial wall that was just big enough for a pack n play. This was right in front of the (blocking) the connecting room door, so If you needed the connection room door, it wouldn't work, but if you don't, it'll fit there nicely.

from other people's descriptions, I'm wondering if all the rooms are not the exact same. In our room, a pack n play would not have fit "behind the curtain" that is where the closet was. I assume she meant in the dressing area. The connecting door in our room caused a recessed area to be between the tv/dresser and the partial wall where the draw curtain drew to. We piled up stuff there, but if we'd needed a pack n play, that's where we'd have put it. I wonder if connecting door rooms might be slightly different.

62 more days for me. We have 1 Pop night at the end of our 5 Saratoga nights.
