For those of you who have been this time of year, what is POP like during the holidays? Specifically how are the crowds, buses, etc. AND on the bright side, what is the resort like at Christmas (eg. special decorations?).

Thanks!!!

We stayed at POP in Dec 09. We went a little earlier in the month... 12/10-12/18. At the begining of the trip the crowds were not bad at all - when we were leaving the crowd really picked up. I was glad we left when we did.
The weather was freezing. We actually wore sweatshirt, jackets, hats and mittens:eek:. We used the bus system that trip and it was very good. We never really waited long for a bus - the only down side is that the POP bus stop at most of the Parks, is the furthest away... That extra walk when you are freezing and tired was trying some days.
The main building was decorated for the holidays - beautiful, huge tree in the Lobby. I packed a mini tree and decorated our room.:santa:
I am glad we experienced the World during the Holiday Season - but it was just too cold and crowded for us. And despite hand washing, hand sanitizer, eating well, getting plenty of rest, getting flu shots and taking vitamins in the weeks before we left..our son got REALLY sick 1/2 through our stay:sick:. During the winter the Happiest Place on Earth becomes the Germiest Place on Earth.
We definately won't be going back during that time again.

At last, have managed to add my requests to my reservation :thumbsup2.Top floor 60's lake view.x.

Only problem we had was the weather.

Oh no,that does'nt sound too good .What was it like-we fly out in 2 days :cool1:..Glad you had a great holiday.x.

I'm trying to find a map of POP century( not the one they give you at check in) with the specific room numbers on it so I can figure out what room number we had before. Does anyone know how I can find this? I know they had one in a book at the front desk.

Thanks for the info. I was kind of afraid of the cold weather too. I love the heat and even our last trip a few weeks ago in March was very cool at night for me (40's and 50's). I also don't want anyone to be sick. What a bummer! I tried to convince my dh to change to a summer trip but he said "no way"!!! He doesn't want to deal with heat and crowds. I like the idea of summer because we could use the pools more and maybe do a water park (we have never done one). Unfortunately our kids are to the age where the end of April and mid-May trips are not as feasible due to school and sports schedules! We did that last year and they were overwhelmed with all they missed when we returned. And some (not all but some) of the teachers were not very accommodating (not giving any of the work ahead of time). Ugh!:sad2:

Thanks again! I am looking forward to the decorations! Hopefully we will get a few days in before it gets too packed. Even though we have stayed in deluxes, my kids are super excited about the POP! We stopped there to look around in May of last year and they begged to stay there "someday"! We have liked every resort we have stayed at so far, albeit for different reasons. I am sure the POP will be fun as well! :flower3:

Hey everyone! I get to go back to my happy place (POP) June 17-20 and I'm bringing my fave guy, Kenny with me! :lovestruc

Sooo psyched! I loooveeee Pop and I hope he will too!

My DH and DS are going for a quick four night getaway this summer and are staying at the POP. As we had never been there before, I came to this thread to get the "scoop"!

AMAZING. Seriously...I know I'm a hundred pages away from the front posts, but this FAQ is really great!

Thank you so much!:grouphug:

Both of you have great stays. :cool1:

We stayed in the 70's last year, building 6, 2nd floor, facing the lake (nice view - prior to the construction). It was an excellent spot, close to the stairs, close to Classic Hall.

We're going back this year and would like to know...

With the construction of Art of Animation across the lake, I'm wondering if the construction is having an impact (both visual and audio) on your stay?

Thanks

Looking to book here. I know i have seen that the 50's building is good for Fireworks. Does it have to be booked as a preferred room? Also, any other good locations for viewing fireworks from the resort?

I am not exactly sure which building is the best to view the fireworks - but I do know that none of the preferred rooms face the lake...so to see them you will need a non-preferred room. I am sure someone will come along shortly to let you know which building is best. :)

I'm wondering this also. We stayed in building 6 facing the lake last year (top floor, though :)) and really liked the location. I am debating a switch to 50's building facing bowling pin pool this year due to the construction.....

Heading to the POP for our first visit at this resort in 49 days!!!!:cool1: Just have a quick dining question.

Can kids order a "mom's night out" meal? My girls are so excited about this and just wanted to see if there is a childs credit for it. I didn't see one on there menu? TIA

Ok,this may seem like a silly question, but in the food court do they or would they sell to me the little packets/tubs of jam, cream cheese?..

:)Not Silly,,
If you are using a reasonable amount of these items for a meal,,even if you are taking it back to your room,,,help yourself,,,,within reason,,,,

But if you need an extra helping,,,,to tide you thru the day or week,
I use
minimus.biz
It is an amazing website of hard to find single serving and travel sizes.
It covers it all,,,from food to health and beauty,,,they will ship right away, FREE with a $20 purchase,,,and it is REALLY easy to get that...!!! Enjoy
OOPS>>>>just saw your location,,,the FREE shipping is Domestic only,,but I don't think it would be too expensive.....

we'll be there the same day!! :)

the moms night out meal would still be considered off the adult credit, sadly they dont have kid sized portions.

We are going on our 3rd trip to pop. I think this year I'm going to get the meal this time. Question if you are on the QSDP do you still get desert with this meal?
I'm not sure if the Corn bread is consdiered the desert part of the meal?

We did the QSDP last year and loved it so we added to our package this year.

:cool1: It is getting so close!!!!!! 45 days is Thursday!! Hate that the mom's night out is only adult but maybe I can pay OAP for this meal for them!! :thumbsup2

You get to choose a dessert as well, the corn bread doesn't count ;)

And to the previous poster questioning if her dd would be able to get the mom's night out meal, you do know that all counter service meal credits are in your account and that they don't differenciate between kids and adults, right? Of course, if your dd shows up alone with her card at the cashier, they will ask that she chooses a kids' meal, but you can go get it for her with your card without any problem. Not sure if I'm making myself clear...
When we went last year, my card was showing 1 adult and 2 kids for the dining plan (we are a family of 6 so we need 2 rooms). I quickly figured out that I could get an adult meal for my ds who preferred the selection, go through the cashier and get him set up, then go get myself a meal, go through the cashier again and join him for dinner :thumbsup2
Since my card was only showing 1 adult, I couldn't get more than one adult meal at a time...

Have a great time! We did!
