We've requested a preferred room in the 70's building. I thought from the map that I saw it looked fairly close to the main building. Am I correct in assuming this? Since my husband and I were both 70's babies I thought that would be fun. Personally I'd love to stay in 80's but that didn't look as close. Any thoughts?

The 70s is pretty close. Only a short walk to Everything Pop and Classic Hall. We stayed in the 70s preferred in December. I think if I were to request the 70s again, I wouldn't waste the money on preferred b/c it is all fairly close.

Did you hear the people walking around in the room above you? I like to ask for a first floor room, but worried about hearing others above us.

I stayed on the bottom floor in the 50's building facing the pool before i could not tell if there was anyone up stairs. The noise from the pool was not to bad either but i think i was way to tired at night to even notice. :rotfl:

We stay on the ground floor, both times and never heard the people above us....except for the toliet flushing. But no matter where you are you hear those things! Geez, they are powerful! LOL

Staying at pop Oct. 1st-Oct.10th!! :yay::banana: We have two rooms requested together. My question is, my sister is permanently in a wheelchair, so i'm just curious as to what building, is easiest to access by wheelchair. We don't mind walking, just trying not to get by a long flight of stairs! haha

I didn't request a handicap accessible room because we needed the two beds, and my parents don't really need it anyway. I explained this to the CM who was booking our rooms and she said she would note it on the ressie. Just looking for an opinion from the POP experts!:thumbsup2

I am FORCING myself to take some DOWNtime for the first time - ever - for me - and us! Downtime means DTD, mini-golf, DTD, TS3 movie in 3D, laundry, pools!, ADRs we need to attend, etc. :thumbsup2 I'm thinking DOWN TIME won't be what I think it'll be, but I'm TRYING! :rolleyes1 ;)

If you get the No Expiration option, I believe the unused days never expire. And you could save them for your next trip, at a really good daily rate. Just thinkin'.

We just arrived home last night and stayed in Bldg 5 / room 5109 - Ground Floor. It was perfect for us! Located just in front of the kiddie pool and never heard a peep (except for a couple flushing toliets);)

JaimeM28 and Nadjalu Thank you for the info on the noise of the first floor. Its nice to know that you didn't hear people above you.

The only noise issue we've ever had at POP (other than some minor toilet flushing) is the mousekeeping staff leaving the door lock/bar thing open while they are going in and out of the room while cleaning it. It banged and banged over and over and it was SO loud! We're not super early birds, but this was fairly early. Like maybe 7:00? Most days we were getting up soon after that, but there were 2 days where we had stayed for PM EMH and wanted to sleep in the next day :headache:

Not sure if this is the place to ask this question or not, but.... how much of a tip do most people typically for mousekeeping each day? We're fairly tidy people so there won't be a huge chore for them to do each day. I was thinking about $5/day... is this about right?

I posted new POP pics from our stay 2 weeks ago in the picture thread #2 if anyone is interested!!

I am going back in October on a FREE trip as an escort for disabled people !! I requested we stay at Pop of course !! My dates are Oct 14th thru 19th !! Anyone else be there !!!????

Sounds good to me! :thumbsup2

For our December trip, my ideal location would be 50s bldg 1, 4th floor, facing pool (since I am assuming that by December the refurb will be complete so I would not have to request a refurb room....). Is this too many requests? What is the easiest way to word them (ie: simplify)? Thanks!

It's not too many request, per se, but you're limiiting yourself to twelve rooms... out of 2,880. Half the rooms in building one that face the pool are Preferred, half are standard.

The best way to word it is in the order of preference.

$5 Day sounds about right. But you could save some money buy having mousekeeping clean your room every other day just leave the "do not disturb" tag on the door.

OMG! How was it? Please spare no details...

By the way great pics what of camera did you use?

It was our BEST trip EVER!!!!:banana: We got ALL of our room requests (down to the exact room just one floor down) and everyone at Pop was super wonderful. My 1st timer Disneyworlder friend that we took along with us could not get over how interactive the CM's were...how they stopped and talked to us even if they were busy....she's a pin trader so she stopped all of them!! Hahah
We were asked to be in the parade at the Magic Kingdom on our 1st day!!!
You (and everyone else) should follow our trip report...it's titled "Three Disneyland diehards do WDW"

Can't wait to go back!!! The only downer on the whole trip was the little boy who drowned in the pool at the Pop!! Luckly, they were able to save him! I talked to the guy who pulled him out and gave him CPR and he said that he was floating on top of a life jacket and apparently was so relaxed that they think he fell asleep (it was around 11:30pm)...his parents were right there and didn't notice a thing!!! The guy jumped in and saved him. Said he was gray from the chest down!! Please watch your little ones...it takes but only a second for something to go wrong.

I use a Nikon D3000!!! I love it. I was on the Ellen '12 days of Xmas' giveaways' this year and we got a $2,000 watch among tons of other things so I sold the watch and got the camera I've been lusting after for a long time!!! I thank Ellen every day!!:flower3:

Follow our TR, my daughter works very hard on it!!! popcorn::
Anything else you want to know just ask...
Oh yeah, took a tour of a refurbed room and posted pics on that thread!!

Oooo, good point! I didn't think of that. We really don't need mousekeeping everyday, but we may need new towels on the days we don't use mousekeeping... can we request that?
