Anyone there last XMAS eve who can tell us?? :santa:

Hi everyone...
Been having soo much fun reading the boards (my husband says its an obsession) ha ha..you guys have a tremendous amount of knowledge and was hoping that someone can answer a question I have...
Does anyone know if they are still doing RAC at the Pop Century..has it passed the trial phase? are the keeping it? Its the one thing other than Dining that has me a bit "wigged out"..Im hoping it does because the thought of dragging luggage and 2 small ones through the airport frightens the heck out of me!
Thank you so very much...I am too excited for this vacation!!!

Right behind you! we leave on Wednesday and I cannot wait, so much to do so little time. I couldnt wait for it to get here now it needs to slow down a little bit :lmao:

I leave on Friday the 30th! Can hardly wait!!!!:banana::woohoo:

It depends on the airline

Hey we participated in the ME @ Pop on October 13th it was very nice to have to not bring luggage to the airport. I hope it sticks and they keep it.

I hope this helps clarify things for you...what they were testing for RAC at POP was Southwest using it. So if you're using Southwest, they're still "testing" it, and they've actually expanded it to all the values (all three All Stars.) The other airlines that "participate" in RAC are:

# Current Resort Airline Check-In Participating Airlines (Domestic only):

* American Airlines
* Continental
* Delta
* jetBlue
* United/Ted
* Northwest
* Alaska Airlines
* AirTran Airways
* US Airways

If you have other questions on RAC, which only refers to actually checking your bags at the resort when you return to the airport, check out this thread over on the Transportation board: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=944813

If you have other questions on Magical Express, which refers to the bus service to and from your resort (Pop in this case) and your luggage transport to your resort, check out these threads over on the Transportation board: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1144360 and http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2015788

The folks who frequent the Transportation board know RAC/ME inside & out. I know I can help a bit, but I can only scratch the surface, they've helped me with all my questions!!

Oneslilspark, I looked at your pictures, which are beautiful, but I have a question. What is the food that is kind of round and flat (don't know how else to describe)--looks like a breakfast item with potatoes and onions maybe? It looks good and am just wondering what it is.

Thanks!

I don't know what you're referring to :rotfl: Sorry :confused3 But I've reviewed all the food we ate at Pop now in my dining review, so if you click the link to that in my sig, that might clear it up! :goodvibes

Thank you so very very much for your help...will check out the transporation board...is it me and my obsessive personality or is everyone this neurotic when planning their trip??
Thanks again!!

We just returned from a quick 2-night stay at Pop following our DCL cruise. It was our first time staying at a Vaule Resort and I must say that I was very impressed! (We stayed at the WL and POR on previous visits.) I did miss having the second sink, but the fact that the rooms had central A/C and not those loud window control units was a HUGE bonus in my book! Our room was 1418 in the 50's section, which was nice and close to the main building and our car. I'd have no problem staying there again and cash in on the savings over the others.

Hi! We're staying at Pop from Dec. 5 to 12, 2009. We wanted to add a day to the beginning of the trip so that we would arrive the 4th but it's booked solid for the week. Thank God we booked the week so early because it looks like the whole week is booked at pretty much every resort.

We booked one night at the Radisson Celebration for the beginning of the trip so I hope that will be ok.

I'm looking forward to a whole week at Pop. We stayed one night in July and now we are hooked on Pop!! :banana:

Hey there everybody. We are staying at POP for the first time this November. I was wondering if they have added coffee makers to the room. If not can I bring one from home? I can't stand their coffee at the Disney resorts. Thanks all!! :thumbsup2

You may want to consider finding a fridge/coffeemaker swap. I think a few have dates in November open.

You might also be interested in the "Pay It Forward" swap at Pop. Check my siggy for links!

I think that everyone (or at least you and me) are this obsessive about it, DH said last night-you are on their AGAIN??!!! Why can't you just give it a rest? I told him that you want to make sure that you at least have the knowledge of the different things that are going on down there right..or should we just go down and wing it??!!

I think I read on here that someone took SW a little while ago and they got to do RAC (it was in a trial) look back on maybe page 102 or 103...I remember seeing recently, I'm thinking about using it--if they have it

Hi everyone,

After 3 days i've finally caught up with the whole thread popcorn::

I just booked for January 3rd for 3 nights solo trip and im trying to decide where the best place for me to request is going to be. I've got the fact that all the building offer fairly good walking distance times but i'm starting to wonder about safety. I know it's Disney but I am a 22 year old femle travelling alone..the thought of walking through a dark parking lot or really quiet buildings near the back of the resort late at night kind of worry me...What would you recommend??

TIA :lovestruc

Have you considered asking for a preferred 60's poolside room on the first or second floor? That would keep you out of the back side of the resort. It's the most public and busy section of the resort. Enjoy your solo trip. I've done several solos and completely understand the fun a solo trip can be.

I'm neurotic. We've been talking about getting a puppy...in May. I went to PetSmart yesterday to get an idea of what things cost. You're totally not alone. :sad2:

I am sure that on these 100's of pages are this answer but I thought this might make it easier just to ask. We received our first pin and we decided to just go for it and take a trip in May 2010. We just booked a standard room at POP for 5 nights and we are a family of 4. The kids are two boys ages 20 and 13- so what room area would they love! We are thinking of an upper floor for the quiet but what else should we be thinking of?? How and when do I make a request? I did not use a travel agent.

Thanks for any help.

I was thinking of going in May also with my 14 year old son. When in May are you going?

We are going May 5 - May 10th. Boncho have you stayed at the POP before?

This will be our 5th time staying at Pop. We like it so much we have never wanted to try any other resort. I have never made a room request before. We have stayed in the 50's, 70's,80's and 90's. I think the 90's was the quietest but we liked each one. Lakeside rooms are supposed to be the quietest but we have never stayed in one. Unless you are poolside I don't think noise is a problem. If you have any questions, just ask and maybe we'll see you there!

In case anyone is interested to have a look I put a Pop review in tripadvisor.com, to try and neutralise those reviews that give the Pop a bad rap for simply being what it is - a VALUE resort.

I got annoyed with people complaining the rooms are small, they have no fridge, they have no restaurant, there's only pizza for room service, my room was miles from the Main hall, my girlfriend and I wanted some romantic private time and there were kids everywhere, whine whine whine etc etc.

What do they expect for what they pay? It's a budget hotel.

If they want pampering, go to a pampering luxury resort. The advertising material for the Pop doesn't pull any punches about what is and is not available. It doesn't say "24 hour room service, with fridge and coffee maker in every luxury suite" and then not deliver.

Maybe if those of us who love the Pop put more positive reviews on we could lift it's rating?

Anyway, just my 10 cents worth. Have a magical day! :wizard:

I think one of the reasons people complain about Pop is because to compare it to say a Best Western or a Super 8 Pop is lacking. Best Western and Super 8 are budget hotels that offer a fridge(bigger then the one you rent at Pop), microwave, coffee maker, queen beds in some rooms, free internet and a few others things for around the same price per night as a room at Pop. I like Pop but do wish they atleast included the fridge in the price of the room.

I say let those people complain so that there is always a room at Pop for me! :laughing:
