For the smokers, cigarettes were real cheap at Hess according to my daughter-in-law who is a smoker.

Not that cheap, but cheaper than what they sell them for at Pop and more selection. DH smokes Marlboro lights, which they don;t sell at Pop, but the Hess did.

I received the same email today :rotfl2:

I got the same one as well.

Welcome sir to the disney forums nice to have you on the forum.

Why are you welcoming yourself? :confused3

We just got back from POP, and was very disappointed to see that the kid's "pool" was closed, was this announced anywhere?

It's not announced on any official sites that I could find, as it seems to went down because of a leak and is being fixed....but it's been on this thread for quite some time now.

How far outside of Pop is the gas station, could you walk there? Does anyone know?:confused3

No. Just walking off the Pop grounds itself is a far walk to the main road, and there are no sidewalks.

For all those September DISers looks like Disney is in the process of putting up the September calendar. Epcot comes up but only World Showcase hours and Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom have the September link but come up with an error. So I would think sometime today or tomorrow it should be up.

I was beginning to get scared as I am depending on the hours to make my ADR's on the 12th. Also I am really curious about Disney Studios and Fantasmic as I have been reading nothing but nightmare's about it right now, as it is cut back to twice a week making DS unbearable on those days.:scared1:

If it is that way in September then the decision has to be...Do we go to DS on Fantasmic day and fight the crowds or not see Fantasmic at all.........also might change my ADR's as I have read nightmares about the Fantasmic dinner package also...:headache:.....OMG I'm dying right now....I need to know...come on Disney....hurry up!:scared:

When we went in March Fantasmic was only playing 2 nights aweek as well. I had heard that this was how it was going to be for the rest of the year. I have yet to see it, nor do I really have any want to. The pictures I've seen are just OK, and I hear the wait is always long, and I just don't think I have the patience. The park is much busier on those days though.

We were there in April, with spring break crowds, and Fantasmic was only on 2 nights the whole week we were there. The first time we tried it was a Sunday, got to DHS at around 3:00pm and it was a mad house, could barely walk through the crowds to get to attractions. We ended up leaving and going to DTD. We tried a different strategy the next night. Arrived at DHS at 6:15 pm, Fantasmic was at 8:00pm. Crowds were still horrendous, but our only goal was Fantasmic. Grabbed a burger and turkey leg, brought it with us and lined up for Fantasmic. They opened the gates at 6:30, we got great seats, had our dinner while waiting. The time seemed to pass quickly for me and my DS (10 years old). It ended up being his absolute favorite time of our whole vacation. It was worth the wait, one of my favs , too!

So, is there stuff like bread and lunchmeat, fruit, breakfast items at the Hess? I am thinking...could we get our water and breakfast items there and bus back to them room instead of using a grocery service?

Fantasmic is one of our favourite things to see in Disney and now I am really disappointed. I really wanted to see it again but I really don't want to fight the crowds to see it again. Is it worth it??? I am not sure at this point. I know that DH will be disappointed if he doesn't see it, but the huge crowds will put him in a bad mood too.:confused3

Does anyone know what days Fantasmic has been on? I would probably work my ADRs around not going to DS that day. We do not have hopper passes so hoppping to DS for Fantasmic only is out.

I would say it's about a 8 to 10 minute drive. So in theory yes you could walk there, but would you want to is another story. ;) Call up a cab company and have them pick you up a 12 pack and deliver it to POP.

Using the Downtown Disney bus service is a great idea and yes you can get most of your food items that you really need at Hess although I have never used the grocery service. Not sure how much they charge for delivery and such.

id say its a hefty walk. we went in 05 and stayed at movies and got the bright idea of walking to the mcds on the other side of the all star gates. seems we walked forever or atleast 45 mintues in freezing weather! i think thats a short walk than pop to the station.

I am so bummed! We had to change our trip dates, and I couldn't get any rooms in Pop on Free Dining for our new dates.
So we'll be at All Star Sports.

The good news is, my count down will be shorter by almost a month!

Enjoy Pop everyone, it is the greatest resort!

Well, guess it's good news, bad news...I'm sorry you won't be at POP...

But was All Star sport ever refurbished?

Think I'm wrong about the refurb...read it was done in 2007..but still pretty recent. :)

Does anyone have any clue about getting an A pass doing this? I think I would rather lug my luggage around than have a C boarding pass with our family traveling. I wonder if we could get a pass at 24 hours and then still get our luggage tagged and sent on to the airport. Sounds kinda scary doesn't it?? I hope someone who uses it before us will report back!

I don't know what an "A" boarding pass vs. a "C" boarding pass is :confused3

:rotfl::rotfl:

Then you don't have to fly Southwest!! It is their boarding passes. If you get an A pass you get to get on the plane first and pick your seats. If you end up with a B or C it is increasing more difficult to get your family to sit together. Since Southwest airlines hasn't participated in the Resort Airline Checkin unti this pilot at POP in June, no one knows how this will affect what letter boarding pass. At Southwest you can check in 24 hours in advance and then you usually get a A pass. But if we have to wait to checkin to the airlines and tag our luggage at the POP century on the mornning of our trip back, then we most likely will get C passes. Just trying to figure out and HOPE someone will post their experience with this new pilot program at POP century.

I would imagine that one could still check in online at the 24 hour mark and get their "A" pass, then the next morning, still bring their bags to the RAC desk and get them checked in. It really wouldn't be that different than checking in at the 24 hour mark, then bringing your bags to MCO to be tagged right??

We always fly SW and while it might be nice to check our bags that morning and not worry about them again, it's not really a big deal to us. Most times, we take the last flight of the day home, so we can enjoy one more day in the parks. That means we are pretty hot and sweaty by the time we need to leave for MCO. Since we always have our luggage still with us, we can get freshened up in the showers near the pools and put on clean clothes etc. If our bags have been checked with RAC, we wouldn't be able to clean up before flying home :scared1::laughing: Of course we could put our clean things in a carry on bag, but then there's the issue of toiletries etc. hmmmm, decisions, decisions......;)

Oh... I wanted to make a suggestion for those of you who haven't been to PoP before... I suggest you put the "do not disturb" sign on the door before you go to bed at night and then remove it when you leave the room in the morning. I recommend this because the Mousekeepers come around quite early in the morning (like 8am) which is great on those mornings when you're up and out early, but on those mornings when we wanted to sleep in a bit, we were awoken by the mousekeeper. Not a big deal, but by putting the card in the door, you can enjoy your sleep! :)

this may be a silly question but we are going to POP in August and flying Southwest for the first time. I knew about the checking in 24 hours ahead of time to get your pass but I wasn't even thinking about when we leave disney. Can you check in without printing you pass till you get to the airport? I don't even know if what I am saying is making sence but I will give it a try!! Thanks!

My DS17 has been flying places last week and this week where he doesn't have internet access. I'm able to check him in and even pay for his bag online (Northwest/Delta) and there's a choice for "check in and print boarding passes at the airport" which I use each time. Then he just goes to the airport and prints his boarding pass and is all set - no worry about money or not checking in on time.

I have also heard that if you ask at concierge at Pop, they can print them out for you. Last time we stayed at Coronado Springs which of course has the business center so it wasn't a problem, but that's what I heard for the other resorts.

Edited to add that I changed airport to Pop - guess my brain wasn't quite in gear!
