My first trip was at Coronado Springs. It was a hike to the food court. We either drove or took the bus. The rooms were still small and they still had outdoor hallways. I like Pop better. Fun themeing, it's cleaner, closer to the food court and shopping.

I've also stayed at the Contemporary Resort in one of the side buildings. We were closer to MK and bus stop. We had indoor hallways and a fabulous view out our patio door. I still like Pop better.

I just don't see much difference between a value and a moderate besides price.

A 3yr old who likes to sleep in?! How did you get so blessed? My kids are up at the crack of dawn no matter what.

My DD is 4 now, but she's always been that way too. but on the down side she is a night owl. She used to go to bed between 11-11:30 and would sleep till anytime between 10-12. But since she started preschool I try to have her down by 9. though on non school days she still will sleep in longer 9 or 10. I tried getting her up early the first year at Disney and she was practically falling asleep during the day, but refused to nap or fall asleep in the stroller. She ended up throwing up our last day on the way to the airport. I think it was overstimulation. Last year I took it a bit more slowly, but we still went pretty strong and again she got sick on the same day and we ended up in the room the whole day. this year I tried to not wake her unless absolutely needed and let her sleep as long as she wanted, and we did much better.

We still had a ton of fun, just no early mornings or early breakfasts.

Waterslide. Hot tub. Little curtain separating the bathroom from the rest of the room. Now queen beds at Coronado Springs. MUCH more quiet. Free fridge. TS restaurant.

In terms of layout, room size, amenities, etc., there isn't much difference. The things I listed above were the main things I could think of. We LOVED Coronado Springs, and enjoyed Port Orleans. If it was just DH and I, I'd really like to stay at CS, or any of the moderates just for the more quiet, elegant feel. With kids, I think the values are so much more fun.

That said, back when we used to stay at moderates, seems like the values were like $80 a night and the mods were like $119. Now the values are still the same, but the mods are like $149/59. I can upgrade to deluxe dining for DH and I for the same price as getting the mod. I'm not going to use the waterslide and with free dining, don't need the fridge. The hot tub isn't a big seller in August. So I think we'd deal with the noise and go for the food!

We haven't stayed at Pop yet, but have done the All Stars 3 times. I liked the fact at Coronado that most people there were conventioneers and weren't in the pools, or on the buses. Almost felt like our own private resort. I guess I'll see how I feel after we come back from Pop. DH isn't going, but DS16 is, and we'll see if it's too noise/hectic/crowded. I'm hoping we enjoy it. Otherwise, it's a place to sleep, swim, and recharge for the parks!

That's the same reason why my son sleeps until 10:00 am. He usually goes to bed around 11 and sometimes past midnight:eek:. Hopefully that will all change for us after he starts preschool in september.

We started it a few weeks before school to get her used to it. DH didn;t think we should. LOL! He liked staying up late with ehr and cuddling while watching TV. But I had to be the adult and tell him and her that this is better for her in the long run. LOL! I'm so mean.

I have a question..... Has anyone here ever stayed at a moderate resort? We are going back to WDW in Sept for the free dining promo and are considering Port Orleans French Quater... Don't get me wrong, I totally loved POP in every way, but I just wonder if I should get a different Disney experience. Has anyone ever stayed at POFQ or another moderate, and how do you feel it compares to POP?
I just don't want to stay somewhere else and regret it! Thanks in advance for your opinion!!:lovestruc

We stayed at Coronado Springs in March and we loved it!!!! It was a nice peaceful walk to the Pepper Market (food) and the main building. There is also a lake with walking trails around it. CSR has a huge playground that my DD2 loved. Nice big pool with water slide and the biggest jacuzzi on property. It was very quiet there and besides a few times in 8 days we never saw many conventioneers. The theming is less 'Disney' but we are in the parks every day so a little less busy and 'in your face' was really nice. They have upgraded all the double beds to queens..... although we had a king room. They are also almost done with renovating all the rooms.

All that being said this was our 1st time staying on property with 2 other times off. We are staying at POP in October so I guess I'll have a comparison then.:goodvibes

Well, this thread inspired me to book a room at Pop for my 2nd trip this year to WDW. Thanks to everyone for keeping such a great friendly thread! That 1st post is just awesome, everything I needed to know.:worship:

I'm super excited to see Pop for myself. It's going to be my 10th trip to WDW.

Our last trip we stayed at PO Riverside and loved it too. We stay at a different resort each time we go, so far All Star Movies and PO Riverside and Pop this time. I found though that the main hall is much farther than the values so I didn't use my mug as often. They are more spread out I found. Though they are beautiful, not that Pop isn't but just in a different way.

I think the values are fun and very Disney where POR was more pretty, less Disney and more keeping to the whole southern theme, not the Disney theme, if you get what I mean.

The food court is the same as the values with selection though you do have a restaurant on site, though we never used it. The gift shop is about the same size. The buses were good, though we found getting on at the main hall was better than at the other stations (POR has 4 stops around the resort and POFQ was only 1). Some busy days POFQ had its own buses and somedays we were together. Though if the line up for the POR bus was big coming back from the parks, we would hop on the POFQ bus to return and walk back to POR which was about a 10 minute walk.

Hope that helps you a bit with the mod question.

Looking forward to seeing Pop this September, as all the pics are getting me excited to go! Hooray for Pop!!

:welcome: to the Dis!

We have had so many different things booked for this coming trip. Switched hotels & dates countless times. I thought we had finally settled on the Contemporary for our trip, but really got to thinking.....we are moving to Florida (30 minutes away from Disney!) next year, so why spend extra $$$ now? So we are going to be at Pop Century for 11 nights December 3-14. I did call back today and get preferred after reading this thread. :) Pop seems so "Disney!"

Thanks to everyone who answered my question about PoP vs. moderate resorts.... I think I am going to try POFQ in Sept.... But to all of you who are going to be staying at PoP for the first time - You will LOVE it! I can't think of one thing I didn't like about it!

We did get a prefered room and I was very happy with the location! we stayed 8 nights so for $80 in total, a location close to the main building, it was worth it... mainly becuase we would go back to our room after returing from the park to change and grab our mugs and then walk back to the food court to grab a drink and treat.

Oh, the only one little thing I did notice was the toilets must use air pressure or something to flush, because they are so loud, I swear you can hear a toilet flush from the other side of the resort! It didn't bother me that much because I rarley heard a toilet flush at night. Although, they should make a rule - no toilet flushing between 10 pm and 7am!!! :rotfl:

Anyway, I still have to get around to writing my trip report, and I'll let you know when I do....

I bet I am the WORST person about changing dates/resorts EVER. Since this morning I was looking at different dates/crowd calendars, etc. We are still staying at the Pop, preferred room, requested ground floor pool view building 4 or 5, although I know that's just a request. Now we are going for 8 nights, 12/10-12/18. I swear this is my last change! (famous last words!)

This might be a silly question, but do any of the preferred rooms have a lake view? Is there a better preferred building to request?

 Not a silly question at all!

Most Preferred rooms no longer have lake views (rooms at the very end of bldg 4 or 5 see the lake) - but there are lake view rooms that were previously pref - if that makes sense. POP changed the pref room locations a couple of yrs ago. Check this map to see preferred room locations:
http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=17643531&postcount=2

If you'd like a lake view and still be close to Classic Hall, I would suggest requesting bldg 4, lake-view. At check-in ask if they can find a room in that locution for you (sometimes they assigns rooms and it looks like the request was never seen, so best to ask again at check-in).

A guest does take the chance of winding up in a lake view room further from Classic Hall, so decide which is more important.

Happy planning! :goodvibes
