Yep, sadly it closed several months ago. :sad2: The entire area is now seating for the food court. I was so sorry to see that happen as it was a nice place to gather...and different from the Petals Bar where smoking was allowed - although I thought I read that has changed now and it is a smoke free area. Anyone know for sure?

I was there in the beginning of March and the smoking section was no longer there. But I have been to Pop to 2 previous Marches as well ,and I never saw the Connections bar ever open while we were there. Someone told me if the pool bar was open then the other was normally closed.

Glad to hear it's non-smoking, although at ASsports - it didn't seem to stop people from smoking anywhere they wanted including including in the area near the bar there.

Wow - good thing I don't drink, lol!

I agree it wasn't that crowded, I think some people never even noticed it back there. We like sitting back in that area when eating at the food court. It's nice and quiet.

We enjoyed Classic Concoctions Lounge many times from 2004 thru 2006 - mostly in early December when a group of us would go to WDW and many of stayed at POP - most evenings we would end with a Martini at Classic Concoctions. :goodvibes

Just got back yesterday from our week at Pop. We had a great time. As for room choices we were on the fourth floor of the 60's section facing the courtyard and 50's backside. It was a terrific location. Although, from what I could tell, the resort was packed. We heard nothing! We simply walked down to the end of the hallway at the end of the night and watched the fireworks for Epcot and Magic Kingdom. It was terrific.

The food at Pop was great. My kids can't get enough of the Mickey waffles, and my hubby was pretty impressed with the breakfast choices. We spent most of our lunches and dinners in the parks. Thanks to the kids eat and play free pin code we had, we really took advantage of character dining. I highly recommend the breakfast with Mary Poppins and Alice at 1900 Park Faire. We were also able to eat at Chef Mickey on Easter morning, Cinderella's Royal Table (the prime rib and dessert were to die for!) and Princess dinner at Akershus. These are all things we would never have been able to do if we were paying out of pocket, so for those of you going during free dining - take advantage!

We were also celebrating Hubby's birthday and he wore his pin. He was all smiles as everyone was telling him happy b-day constantly. The free cupcake at the end of his meal wasn't bad either!

This was our first time flying and using Magical Express and we were pretty impressed. Our wait at the airport was only about 20 minutes, and we had our luggage in our room in about two hours. We were also the first dropped off at Pop once on property. On the way out, Pop was the last stop, so we were only on the bus a short time from the resort to the airport.

Even as crowded as it was, transportation around the parks wasn't too bad. We had never used the buses on site either before this trip so didn't know what to expect. I think the longest wait was about 20 minutes - and that was to get from Downtown Disney back to the hotel at the end of the rainy afternoon we were there. Most of the time our wait was no longer than 5, 10 minutes max.

This was our fifth trip to Pop and we FINALLY got towel animals. We thanked housekeeping up and down as the kids were so excited!

My only complaint that Pop's (and the rest of WDW) beverage choices are limited when it comes to de-caffeinated beverages. One can only drink so much sprite. So, while my hubby refilled his mug constantly (it was totally worth the money for him), I found myself drinking much more water (which isn't the worst thing in the world).

**By the way, I highly recommend ordering a case of water from costco.com before you go. It was only like $7.80 for 24 bottles. I ordered it five days before our arrival and it was waiting for us when we checked in. Beats $3 a bottle in the parks. Even without a costco membership, they only tack on like .35 cents for a non member ordering.

That's about it. We had a great time, and are already planning our next trip back. It's supposed to be in two years, but I'm trying hard to talk hubby into an August trip to enjoy the free dining offer! We're already missing POP! :thumbsup2

:welcome: back and thank you for taking the time to tell us about your stay! :goodvibes

I'm so glad you had a great time - amazing during such a crowded season. I think your family has a fabulous attitude when it comes to crowds. ::yes::

Your room location sounds perfect - did you make any room requests on your reservation or fax requests?

Thanks again! :flower3:

I did request 60's building, courtyard facing either 50's or 70's, no poolside. Unfortunately when we go there, they had us in the 70's facing somewhere else. The customer service lady at the counter was terrific though, and found us exactly what we wanted right away and our room was already ready so we were able to hop into the pool within moments. I think the person who took our reservation over the phone keyed our request in wrong, and I was unable to fax in our request prior like so many suggest. I will in the future though, I think it will clear up any confusion. We were in room #4416, and like I said - great location! It's even close enough to walk across the courtyard and use the bowling pin pool rather than the hippity dippity one in the middle which was more crowded. I found out on this trip that my kids feel they're too old for the kiddie pool anymore..bummer. So it was all big pool time for us, so we were able to enjoy it together.

We never fax our requests either...and do the same as you if the room location is not what we hoped for. I've found the CM's at POP to be wonderfully helpful and nice about it as well.

We enjoy many Disney resorts, but I've had the best guest service at POP and GF. :)

Oh, it's hard when the munchkins don't think they're little anymore!

cmpfan, thanks for the feed back. Glad you had such a great time. Good to hear there are Mickey waffles, my fav.

What all comes with the mickey waffles? Do they sell them by themselves?

I beleive they are a kids meal. I think bacon or sausage comes with them, but can;t remember for sure anymore.

Yep the Mickey waffles are on the kids menu - the POP waffles are on the adults menu.

The kids mickey waffles comes with bacon and applesauce.

You can substitute he bacon for sausage though. We like really crispy bacon, which it is NOT there, so we got sausage instead each time.

thanks for the info! Melanie C! OH! One More thing Can I buy Walt Disney World Passes at POP and it's more cheaper than to buy in the theme parks! I only need 3 days passes!

I know I've answered this for you a couple of times, but her it goes again. :thumbsup2
yes you can buy them at pop, but they are the same price everywhere. There basically are no discounts on tickets. Sometimes I think AAA might be cheaper, but not much, and I think it depends on how many days you get. I always get a package, so I never pay attention to the prices of just tickets.

sorry! I didn't understand about buying the Walt Disney World Passes for 3 Days It is confusing to me!
