Hello and thank you for all the useful information. I will be staying @ Pop century the last week of may.

While I have never stayed at Pop (at least not yet...going in August), I have had to show a picture I.D. all three times we've checked into the CBR.

I think we'll be there at the same time (no math whiz here though :lmao:) !!

This will be our first time at the POP - we've stayed at SOG for the last 10 years. So, it also means we can finally do DDP - woohooo. We're pretty excited to try a new hotel and see what it's like. I've tried to read through the posts but there is so much information. Since we'll be there in the heat of August, we anticipate going back to the hotel for a cooling swim at least some of the days. For those of you have have stayed at POP, is this do-able with the buses? We're only there for 4 nights (5 days). Also, are there any "fun" things to do at the hotel?
Thanks!!!

We usually go back to Pop every day to take a nap or swim. We usually leave the parks around noon and head back to the park around 3 depending on our ADRs. The busses run pretty regular so its not too difficult. As far as "fun" things at the hotel we usually aren't at the hotel long enough to check things out. We pretty much just sleep and swim and spend most of our time in the parks.

We usually get a later start, so we don't come back till we are done. when we go the parks tend to close earlier, so if we would come back and rest, we wouldn't have much time to go back and do much. But that is our style too.
Pop does do some daytime stuff in the lobby and by the pool I beleive though.

Since our first visit (1981), the CM has always asked for a photo ID of the person who is the lead on the reservation.

Ever since I can remember, I have always needed an ID when checking in at Disney.

I'm with M&N and Melanie....I stay at WDW 2-4x a year every year since 1994. I have always been asked for ID upon check-in. I've also been asked for ID when driving into other disney resorts for meals etc. I'm really suprised some saying they've never been asked ???

I've never had them check out ID when driving to a resort for dinner. LOL! Just asked our name, which always seems to take forever to find.
Jenseib.....we've been asked when going to a resort for dinner only when we stay offsite. If they see a WDW parking pass in the window, they just wave us in. Recently, a few guards have told me, no need to show Driver's license at the gate if visiting for dinner....the room key is just as good.

Gee, I don't even know if they asked for our room key this year. We only drove to Beach club, but the lady at the gate had a hard time finding our name. Finally she found it under my first name.

And weird....on March 21, we had dinner ADR's at Cape May Cafe. Got to the guard at the BC and all he asked for was our room key. We had a parking pass to POP on the dash board. He never even looked up our name on the ADR list.

I've been told by a hotel owner that it is NJ state law for hotel front desks to make and keep a copy of an official I.D. for the person whose name the room is registered under--not each guest in that room, though.

Disney must have to do the same, as I recall giving them my driver's license at check-in every stay. Even if it's not a law in Florida like it is in NJ, it's very much in Disney's best interests to collect I.D.'s.

They need to ensure that any prepaid part of the reservation is being given to the proper party. They need to know who is responsible for any charges incurred by the guests. What if major damage is done to a room or its contents? What if someone rings up a bunch of fradulent credit card charges? Disney would have no recourse if they couldn't prove who the room was given to.

Cool! I'll have my lime green mickey head on my backpack. We are a bit worried about staying at Pop (or any value) as we have always stayed at the CBR.

While we were at Disney last year, we drove over to Pop to have a look around. We thought the resort looked really groovy man:laughing:. We also ate in the food court and everything we ate was tasty. Our other concerns were room size and transportation. A very nice mousekeeper let us go into a room (don't worry it was checked out of) and it seemed to be about the same size a typical hotel/motel room. We didn't get to see how the buses ran as we were there in mid-afternoon and that's not peak traveling time. So, I am still a bit worried about transportation to and from the parks.

I remember when walking around, we saw a couple of things that we said would be cool to do on our "down day" but for the life of me the only thing I can remember is the Twister game.

The thing I really REALLY love about Pop is that the bus stop is right near the food court which makes it convenient to get something to eat and drink on your way back to your room or on your war to the buses in the morning. That's something that is making me nervous about CBR.

Don't worry about transportation. It was great!

Hey all,

We will be at the Pop from June 15th until the 21st, I am a bit confused on the stroller swaps, the latest post I saw was closed and very outdated. Any help would be appreciated:)
