The GROOVIER New Pop Century FAQ Thread Chapter 2! ~ Post #1 is a must see!

This thread has been a wealth of info for us newbies! Learning lots for our upcoming trip booked at the Pop for 13 nights. Need some help with room request. Noise is not a big concern. I want a room with easy access to a main pool for my fish swimming son. I don't want to pay extra for a preferred room but don't want to be super far from Classic Hall either. I was hoping for 60's but the maps shows all the rooms racing Hippy Dippy Pool as preferred (is this correct?). Should I request 50s/ground floor/building 1 or 2 with pool view? How far of a walk would that be to the first bus stop? Any advice would be much appreciated! Thx also for the info on room # designations. I was so confused about this until I rec'd that info.

:welcome:

Building 4, lakeside is nice....these rooms are former preferred locations, right around the corner from the main pool.

50's ground fl, pool view are now (mostly) preferred. The rooms beyond Lady or Tramp would be std....unless the resort recently added more pref locations including those. :)

Hope this helps!

p.s Add the request to your reservation and arrive as early as possible during the day as it will likely be very crowded that time of yr. Also, be sure to let the CM at check-in know what you're hoping for and if not available right them if it would be later or the next day. :)

I thought end of August was value season because there aren't a lot of people there?

For the majority of my WDW trips, I'd always stay at Coronado Springs and I loved it and never wanted to stay anywhere else. But then in recent years, I've been forced to stay in other Disney resorts. Last year, due to budgeting, my friends and I decided to stay at Pop Century. At first I was kinda wary. I had never stayed at a value resort and didn't know what to expect. But after a week, I really grew to love it. It has a different appeal and atmosphere than Coronado Springs.

I still love CS but for different reasons. I have a budget again this year and have once again decided to stay at PC but you know what, this time I'm actually looking forward to it. And because of the great rates, we're able to stay for an entire 8 days!

However, my only complaint about PC is the bus stop. Don't get me wrong, it's quick and efficient. But there's something to be said about quiet little palm tree-shaded bus stops scattered around the property.

It is value season, but also free dining now (if it is offered again this summer). With free dining the value resorts fill up quickly...anyway, I'd rather be wrong and get there early with a better chance of a good room location than the end of the day and the picks are slim! ::yes::

For 30 years we went the end of August and although it is not as busy as July or early August, it is still busy. We were there last August, exactly your dates and it was by no means slow. The POP food court was the most crowded I'd experienced it in our 4 stays there. :thumbsup2

Very true. I guess I underestimated the power of free food. :goodvibes

Lovin this thread! I have a 2 yr. old that naps lightly, and DD 1 with ADHD that freaks and tunes in to every noise, so I think that a lakeside room would be our best bet???? I know there is going to be noise everywhere, just trying to think of the best places. Right now we are standard, but don't might upgrading if it will help our girls sleep. Any advice to the best lakeview areas to request? Would love 60's with a view of the fireworks, it's also close to the kiddie pool. THinking 4th floor would be quieter, are the elevators a hassle? Any experience from anyone?

We stayed at POP last week and were in the 50's - Room 3432. We had an excellent view of the fireworks every night and it was pretty quiet. We used the elevators all the time because we had our daughter in the stroller and didn't find them to be a problem at all.

When are you going? We had 50's Building 2 pool view ground floor it was satndard and great location to the bowling pin pool and not so far from everything pop!

This was our room we were literally footsteps to the bowling pin pool right next to the Jukebox!

Hello all!

I don't know if this has been asked before, but I couldn't make it thru all 80 pages lol. I was wondering if POP has chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast? All star music does, but I don't want to take that for granted. They are YUMMY!:goodvibes Thanks for any replies!

Hey there! Go to Post #1. Under the Food section, there's a link to the breakfast menu that will help you out. :)

BTW, love your screen name!

Free Dining does tend to keep the value resorts AND the sit down restaurants hopping,
but the parks aren't too bad,
as long as you follow the suggestions of getting there early, and avoiding the EMHs. We almost never wait in line.
(we've been free dining both August and Sept.)

Make sure if you want any sit downs, whether or not you do free dining yourself, that you make ADRs far in advance of your trip.
There are really no walk-ups during free dining.

Even with the resort busy, it really only affects the food court (just avoid the busiest times of day, like after the parks close, or around the 8 am breakfast rush), and possibly the laundry.
It's really hard to do laundry right after the parks close.

I'm soooooo excited to be going back to Pop.
Here's hoping for free dining, AND availability at Pop! :wizard:

Thank you very much Buckeye Gal:) . It's great to know that they have my choco chip pancakes. I love your name too!

I am a total organization nut, can't deal with clutter. Any ideas other than the over the door holder and pop up hamper to keep the room neat?

Don't do over the door (or at least I don't suggest it). because thre is a mirror on that door. I get the kind that hang in the closet. You can find them really cheap... Like a buck at the Dollar store! :thumbsup2

We are checkin in to Pop on April 10th! Can't wait. Just wondering if anyone knows how crowds will be...

Wondering if MK will be the busiest on Easter Day?

Only 35 days...YEAH!

Very busy! I do believe Easter is one of the busiest days of the year. If you are going to a park, go early! They usually hit capacity on Easter (so I have read)
