The grey stuff recipe & review!!!

This is an approximation that tastes similar but it's not the real recipe. The Grey Stuff is Oreo Panna Cotta Mousse, which is not made with instant pudding and Cool Whip, at least it's not supposed to be. It's made with heavy cream, whipped cream, egg yolks, and gelatin.

I know. The website I found the recipe on said it is a copycat recipe. Obviously this recipe is a lot easier to make than Disney's......

We had dinner at Be Our Guest a couple of weeks ago and were able to convince our waitress to bring us some of this. She went on and on about how they try to hold it for special occasions but would see what she could do. Anyway, we miraculously (??) got it and, well, what can you say about it? It is a dab of oreo mousse...of course it's going to be delicious. What baffles me is why they don't just give every table this same tiny sampling when they bring the check, rather than making such a big deal about its being only for special occasions...or just go ahead and put it on the dessert menu, where I suspect virtually every table would feel morally obligated (ha!) to buy at least one serving. Still pretty shocked that with such a nice, beautiful new restaurant, the entire dessert menu consists solely of cupcakes and creme puffs.

yeah that seems odd. Everyone needs some grey stuff! ;)

It should definitely be available for purchase! We are not planning to have dessert there, doesn't look that great!

How close to the Garden Grill Oreo Mousse is it? I LOVE that!

Having the Grey Stuff only for "speical occastions" creates hype around BOG and helps to keep people talking about it! How many posts have we all seen about BOG and the Grey Stuff? I know I've seen dozens! And all the hype makes a lot of people feel that they just "have" to try it! If it were on the menu- it would just be another (fabulous?) dessert.

:thumbsup2

We will be there on our anniversary so I was thinking I would ask for some because its a special occassion. Then it occurred to me after reading so many posts about it that, anyone at anytime can ask and the server "will see what they can do" and get it anyway.
