The Greatest Trip There Ever Was!

Great update, Kimmy! I love the picture of Landon and Steph. His face is just 'Is she done yet?' :rotfl: I can't believe how big he's gotten! Great start, can't wait to read more. :)

Oh and I loooooove Enchanted. That part is great, especially when Patrick Dempsey is like 'Oh you know this song too?' :rotfl2:

are you sure that the cheese fry picture wasnt him mimicking you and how your face looks when you eat cheese fries.
:rolleyes1
you know like mother like son, or is it monkey see monkey do?

it does crack me up how no matter how clean a little man seems after eating, there is always food somewhere you dont see till like an hour later.

somehow last night parker had dried ketchup on his nose an hour after we ate and i washed his face and everything after dinner.
:sad2:

And oh. my. gosh. I'm just going to die laughing reading your tr, aren't I? I'm headed there next!

yep you will prob laugh at us pretty good in those updates,

your baby boy has grown alot but still cute as ever!! I would be lucky if i get a flight experience like you. it makes me nervous how my little stinker will be everytime i think about it! Great update! Love the pics!

Oh, man! The comparison airport pictures were amazing! Your little man has grown a LOT in a year! He's so adorable!

I'm loving the TR so far. I cannot wait to see how it all turns out!

The comparison pic was crazy for me too!! Can't believe how fast my baby is growing!!

I live on the same coast and our flights take about 2 to 2 1/2 hours (we fly nonstop too most of the time). I don't like to take off more than once in one day!

Great to hear about the 50's section. Madison loved the Hippy Dippy Pool, but she's very excited to try the Bowling Pin pool on this trip. It sounds like you were very close to everything which is awesome. There really isn't a bad spot at Pop since it's not super huge. Although, I wouldn't want to be in a lakeside room. I know it's a popular request for people that like quiet, but I don't like it too quiet when I sleep. Plus, being by any sort of water in Florida makes me nervous. I'm always afraid there are going to be alligators...AND people have spotted a gator in Hourglass Lake before! :scared1:

Nonstop really is the way to go!! Is it a major price difference for you anyway? Because it's really never too much cheaper if I were to opt for a stop or 2. I just couldn't handle all that plane time plus extra time in airports! no thanks!

Pop really is great everywhere!! I still have yet to see Hourglass Lake!! One day I will explore the WHOLE resort! This time I did find the Goofy jets and playground though, so I explored a little more! I would be so excited to see a gator!! I love them. I wouldn't get too close, of course! My grandparents used to live further South in Ft. Myers and as a kid, I would always get so excited to see them in the wild!! I think it's cool...from a large distance! (Granted, it'd probably be scarier if it was in the lake behind your resort than just driving by on a random highway!)

Landon has the BEST facial expressions. Sometimes he just sits and likes me to mimic his face and he'll make a really angry face, then a surprised look and all these other ones. He's hilarious.

haha. Oh that Patrick Dempsey. That part was funny. You could really tell he loved how she always broke into song! :rotfl:

Haha...I don't think its monkey see monkey do. I can't imagine myself letting all that good cheese go to waste on my face! of course...who knows? I'm digging into the cheese fries too intensely to notice much. :rotfl2:

I ALWAYS find hidden food an hour later too! How do they do? Crazy!

Just be sure to keep him occupied! Or don't let him nap so he'll pass out quickly. They can get restless! I'm sure you'll be fine! :goodvibes

Aww, your little boy is adorable!

Okay, you'll have to consider I'm now in decade #5 of my life, so having not grown up with internet, just curious about posting pictures of oneself on a public forum? ANybody out there can see them :confused3 Is this not a concern or am I showing my age

It's nice to see how other people experience Disney World. Not only is it fun to relive vacations through someone elses perspective, but it has helped me prepare what to expect from my son, both on his last trip and the one we have coming up in October.
I have gotten so many ideas from the pictures that people post on their trip reports..a picture is woth a thousand words. A perfect example is getting a first haircut in the barber shop on Main street:thumbsup2. I had no idea this existed until pictures were posted in a previous TR, and seeing how great of an experience it was for someone else with a little boy my sons age..well, I HAD to do it. And we did! It was a wonderful experience and I just don't think it would have caught my eye as much through only reading about it.

The first days are always so exciting... because you still have the whole trip ahead of you and everyone just can't wait! :)

I love how you took another picture of Landon sitting in the seat... it's amazing seeing how much they grow up each year.

Woo hoo for being in the 50's section! That's where we were back in December. Except, we were in the Jukebox building. We loved it!

We typically have great flights to choose from. This will be my first time on Southwest...we've flown Jet Blue in the past. When flights were released on SW, the nonstop was the same price as the flights with one stop. Duh! We'll take the nonstop!

We just adore Pop! I do want to stay at other resorts someday (plus, it's kind of part of my job!), but Pop is so perfect for us. We're at the resort to sleep, shower and swim and that's about it!

Kimmy-Thank you SO much for the sweet postcard you sent to Madison. She was so excited about it and couldn't believe that the Princesses knew where she lived. :goodvibes You are too sweet!!!

The response from CJDisneyMommy hit the nail pretty well on the head.

Exactly! I learn so much from other people's stuff! And I have gone through many a tr where I only look at pics and don't really read too indepth!!

I LOVE the first days!! They are perfect!! And I really love seeing Landon's completely different reactions to everything. Amazing.

Jet Blue's main hub or whatever is at your airport right? I'm pretty sure we discussed this in your tr!! All the Jet Blue fares are so high over here! Oh well. Next time I need to go with Southwest. I totally forgot about bag fees on other flights.

Ok, just wanted to post a bit of a rumor. We should have details about this come Monday!

The Discounts are Coming!

Thanks for posting this!

Hi there! Just jumping in to read along :goodvibes TRs have become a recent addiction :rotfl:

yay! glad you are here! :goodvibes

I've been waiting for the room discounts for December! YAY! I hope this is true!

I hope it is too!! I have a feeling we'll be texting each other Monday, Lauren!

Kimmy-Thank you SO much for the sweet postcard you sent to Madison. She was so excited about it and couldn't believe that the Princesses knew where she lived. :goodvibes You are too sweet!!!

Aw, yay!! That's so awesome. I was kinda in a hurry so I was hoping she didn't question the chicken scrawl!! YES!! I'm glad you was so excited!! :goodvibes

So I last left off with us waiting for the bus. Our wait wasn't too long, maybe 10 minutes, but it felt longer because every other bus for every other stop came during that time. One of them even had 2 before ours came!!

But soon we were on our way!! The bus ride was uneventful and it was hard walking past MK without going inside. We went straight to the monorail and hopped on for a ride to the Polynesian!!!!!!!!!!!! I was SO excited.

Once we got inside the Poly, we were all AMAZED by the smell. Like oh. my. gosh. A-freakin-mazing!! I would love to stay there and get to smell it every single day!

We checked in early at Kona since we were all starving and they gave us the buzzer and told us it would still work anywhere on the 2nd floor.

DSC00218.jpg

Steph went to find a bathroom, I went to find postcards, and Landon and Dustin checked out the view. I saw where you check in for the Spirit of Aloha show and thought of Kristen (xoktenox) and tinkgurl!!

DSC00217.jpg

So pretty!

We took pictures by the pretty dolphins and pretty much...everywhere!

Finally, our buzzer went off. I'm pretty sure this is the longest wait we had for a table our entire trip, but we did get there waaaay early. So whatev.

I apologize in advance because I only took food porn twice this trip. I do have drink porn for this restaurant though.

Steph got the Lapu Lapu like a good girl. You can't go to the Poly and NOT get this.
DSC00234.jpg

And Dustin got an Island Sunset. The pic of this drink is of Steph drinking it and I LOVE Dustin's face in it.

While our entrees and desserts were good, if you asked any of us what our favorite part of this meal was, every single one of us would say the honey macadamia nut butter. We wouldn't even say the bread, we would all hands down, without blinking say the butter. SO GOOD!!!

Landon enjoyed the bread. (Us mean ol' adults just gave him plain bread so we could hog the butter ourselves.) Usually Landon eats quite a bit and this meal I actually ordered him something because I was sure he'd be starving after not eating since early that morning. He barely touched his plate though. Oh well.

For our entrees, Steph got the Coconut Almond Chicken which she loved. The menu describes it as "served with asian greens" but I think they should just add salad to the end of the name.

Dustin and I both got the Teriyaki-style New York Strip medium rare. SO GOOD!!! I loved every bite. Dustin subsituted his sticky rice with the yukon gold mashed potatoes...and I wish I would've done the same. I tried a bite of the mashed potatoes and they were out of this world delicious!! I couldn't even really eat my sticky rice after that because it tasted so bland. Learn from my mistakes...order the potatoes.

For dessert, we all opted for something different. I got cheesecake, Dustin got the Coconut Cream Kiki Tart, and Steph got the Creme Brulee. Don't get the cheesecake. It's so boring and although we shared...I wish I would've had Dustin's dessert all to myself. It's basically a molten lava cake and I'm obsessed with those.

Landon was in quite the mood this dinner. At first he was throwing stuff...his crayons and menu mostly. Then he started "chatting up" the table next to us. Then he got a little silly with his blankie.

DSC00244.jpg

Finally, we were finished and stuffed!! So it was time to explore the rest of the Poly! Woohoo!!

I found all those tiki guys that Sara (MickeyIsBeast) loves and thought of her. Landon loved them too!!

Here's Dustin with his best tiki face!

Notice that strap? For whatever reason, he was carrying my Vera for me.
DSC00250.jpg

Then we snapped a few more pics before hopping back on the monorail!

I'll update again tomorrow!! It's getting late tonight!! :goodvibes

I was gonna comment tomorrow, since it's getting late, but I had to comment now for two reasons!
1- thanks for the shoutout- I just love my tiki guys. I love all the pics of them :D I'm glad Landon enjoyed them too
2- I have the same shorts that you were wearing that day! I was actually wearing them today! How ironic is that?

Great update Kimmy! Love Poly and the smells there, too! :cloud9: It's so pretty and tropical! Your dinner at Kona sounds delish! Love the blankie pics of Landon, Dustin carrying the Vera and the Tiki pic of Dustin! SO funny!!

Jet Blue's main hub or whatever is at your airport right? I'm pretty sure we discussed this in your tr!! All the Jet Blue fares are so high over here! Oh well. Next time I need to go with Southwest. I totally forgot about bag fees on other flights.

JetBlue's hub is actually at JFK in NYC, but that's ok. :goodvibes We still get great fares with them, but not for next month. :sad1: I'm sure we'll be fine with SW.

Thanks for posting this!

My pleasure! I'll be waking up bright and early tomorrow to see what the deals are going to be!

Aw, yay!! That's so awesome. I was kinda in a hurry so I was hoping she didn't question the chicken scrawl!! YES!! I'm glad you was so excited!! :goodvibes

No problem! She kept looking at me like I was trying to trick her or something! Eventually, I had to tell her that I had a friend who visited Disney World and sent her the postcard. She still loved it though!

Great update! I'm looking forward to the "Poly smell" that I hear so much about. We've never been there, but we're eating at 'Ohana our last morning. I'm sure Tony is going to have to drag me out of there!!!

I hope it is too!! I have a feeling we'll be texting each other Monday, Lauren!

Me too! :goodvibes I can't wait to see what they are!

And I absolutely LOVE Kona Cafe! That's where we ate our first night on our trip last year. THE BUTTER IS HEAVENLY AND I WANT SOME RIGHT NOW!!!! I want to go and try the steak, too. I ordered the Pomegranate BBQ Pork Chop which was delicious, but the steak sounds so yum!

Landon looks so cute with the blanky over his head :)
