We surprised my Dad for his 70th birthday by getting everyone together at the Pocono location last fall- 4 kids, spouses and 14 grand kids. He loved it! I hope I'm running up and down water slides with my grandkids when I'm that age.
That was during the week when school was in session. Just wondering what it's like over the summer? Same visit, the power went out for about 2.5 hours, so everything shut down. Anyway, they gave us a big discount coupon for our next visit. My 4 year old is always asking when we can go back to Great Wolf and see the bear! (a guy in a bear costume reads stories to the kids at night in the lobby- it was the highlight for her) We're wondering if we should go over the summer, or wait till fall when the rates and the crowds go down. Any input?
We loved it, and found it be be great even with little kids (1 and 3 at the time) and older ones at the same time. Rare that.
The animatronics in the lobby are awful, at least compared to Disney, and the 'story' is so PC I wanted to vomit, but that is not a big deal.
The food is overpriced and under good, about what you'd expect from a resort. There are plenty regular restaurants nearby, so we just went out, after one go at the buffet.
Our only real complaint is that there are NO picnic tables anywhere on grounds, so it's hard to bring your own meals unless you eat in your room. We had the whole family so that was tough.
