The great stroller dilemma.....

I've been thinking about this also. Our first trip was in June 2002 and my boys were 3 and 5. The first day we went without a stroller..BIG mistake for my 3 year old. The second day I rented a single stroller. We traded it in to park hop and when making it to the 2nd park they only had double's available. My 5 year old used it some of the time so the rest of the week we got the double.

When we go in March my kids will be 4 and 7. I saw someone at the zoo last week with a double jogger and I made the comment that we should look into getting one of those for the trip. My husband, of course, said that they can walk. I'm not so sure. I remember the walk back to the room when we were all tired and having to each carry a child.

My question is, how portable are the double jogger's and is it worth it for one week.

Double joggers are very expensive and not very portable at all. I would probably rent a double before I'd do that just for one week.

I read once that the average person walks 5 miles a day at Disney World. That said, I'm bringing my stroller for my 3 year old. I plan to let her walk when she wants and to let her ride when she wants. I also plan to have her in the stroller when leaving the parks after parades, fireworks, etc. There is no way I want something as tenuous as hand-holding being the only thing keeping us connected in a crowd that big!

I used to use a buggy board with a Maclaren stroller. It's an awesome combination. I could have the stroller reclined and DD could stand on the buggy board. However, it will not work on a small Combi (like the Savvy Z) unless you purchase the "double buggy adaptors" for an additional ~$10. Here's a link to a site that has them a bit cheaper than the Right Start:

I did however trade in the Mac/Buggy Board combo for a Peg Perego Pliko P3 prior to our WDW trip and would highly, highly recommend this for an older child who ha mostly outgrown strollers. Even at only 3 1/2, my DD was able to just hop a ride on the back steps when needed. The steps on the P3 are a bit bigger and easier to stand on than the regular Pliko. (Although not as easy as the buggy board) The stroller folds easily, is self standing and has a carry handle for getting on/off transportation. We found this the perfect stroller for our needs and was worth the money. (Found ours used and saved!)
