The Great Leap into Running and DVC Ownership.

Stopping by to wish you safe travels!!!! I too am not surprised you got a car. I will say, from a treehouse, it's been a wonderful thing to have!! Temps and weather has been all over the board for the past 9 days. Torrential rain, up to 81 yesterday 40's tonight, crazy! From pool to parka in 24 hours. We ran in 44 degree weather and them 70. Pack options :) Check your flights, things are a mess due to the east coast weather, Both of my sisters had issues getting home, one quite a bit worse than the other (united sucks!) and right now our 2nd leg is a bit delayed.

Lol! I think on this trip it will make things a bit easier. We definitely will be planning to eat in the room and that will require groceries.

I have been watching the temps and figure we will have similar bouncing temps that you saw- just maybe not getting so low. I think I packed way too much because if it.

So far no delays on our flight. I was worried considering that we are stopping in Milwaukee. I have heard united has been more than its normal frustrating self. :(

Have a fun, safe and magical trip Ann! I'm jealous - just as I'm going into busy season! Wave at my little girl in Orlando. She is at Buena Vista Hotel this week for her internship training with KPMG.

Thanks, Susan!

I didn't know she had an internship. How fun!!!

Ann, I am not all caught up here yet, but I think you must be on your way to WDW or are already there.
Just wanted to wish you safe travels and a magical time at WDW.

:cool1: Do you have it in your ticker? I should change mine... I watched some videos... I think the excitement has me almost forgetting how worried I am about how hot it might be.

Funny how great minds think alike. :goodvibes

I really and truly have been meaning to start my TR. I have finally decided on a title... so that is something. However I still need to take care of pictures and such. Really though, I haven't felt much like starting. I have been so sick since coming home. I know I was sick last summer and probably complained a ton about it. I probably even said I have not be this sick in... But let me just say that THIS time is worse than that. It has my head so spinny and mushy. Luckily I haven't had much work this week. Of course all of that changes come tomorrow as my busy week starts.

So my brain power...what there is of it, has been devoted to taking care of Zoe's healthcare issues. As of January first, we switched to a new insurance. That insurance did not get us in the system immediately. In fact, we did not get cards until we got back from vacation. This was an issue because she requires durable medical goods. Upon entering our new insurance into our account with the supply company I ran into some frustrations. First, they were not contracted. Second, Zoe would need a preauthorization from the insurances medical committee to order them. So monday I got the ball rolling on the insurance side of things. Tuesday, I got the care team to send clinic notes to the committee as well as make a call into the care management team at the insurance company. Wednesday, the insurance company called me back to let me know there was no progress in a. getting a contract with a medical supply company or b. determining Zoe's need of supplies was medically necessary. Today, I decided I needed to get a bit more proactive. I kid you not, I was on calls from about 9am to 1am sorting all of it out. The insurance company told me it would be about 15 business days till they had a determination on the necessity of Zoe's supply need. :rotfl::rotfl: I asked if any of the committee would like to be told that they could not use a restroom for that duration. Pointing out that it is exactly what they are asking of my daughter and is a rather ridiculous expectation. I then called to our supplier to see what a cashe price would be since we have a prescription and there is no law saying we have to use insurance. Well, that cost is not far off from the cost of a family vacation... so no, that won't work. I called the next supplier I knew of that her doctor sends scripts to. They were of no help. They wouldn't even give me a price if I didn't' know an item number and since I am not familiar with their catalog..yeah... no item number. FINALLY, I made contact with a wonderful lady who understood exactly what my dilemma was and what I was requesting. She got a manufacturer on the line to grant us a weeks supply of "samples". She then put me through to a sister company who could sell me supplies direct and at a heavy discount. So I ordered a weeks supplies. In my mind this took care of two weeks and we SHOULD have the insurance committee understanding by then. I thought we were good for the time being...but figured I still had more battle ahead of me. However, I had just enough time to get coffee and the wonderful rep who had got me that far called me back. She went above and beyond. She called the insurance company herself and got everything squared away. She then got the billing in place for us to place a real order at a reasonable rate. Since the rep got the contract in place all of the cost will go toward Zoe's deductible. I can't tell you how impressed I was with this lady. Sometimes I think people don't know how much they affect our lives in the things they do. I made sure to tell her how much of an impact she made on ours.

Oh... and to start my day today... miss Zoe took a hard fall. She did not even make it to school. While out at the buss stop she went to stand up..slipped and fell. (I suspect she has this dizzy flu thing I have) She knocked out a tooth, gave herself a fat lip and kinda looks like she was in a fight. (her cheek, forehead and chin are bruised, swollen and scrapped) I swear she looks beat. I can imagine if she were to tell someone she just fell when trying to stand up... they would look at me odd. She is so full of grace. Does anyone remember a few years back when she knocked out her front tooth? Yeah...that still hasn't grown in and now the other one is gone. :confused3 Poor baby....

I think this is one of the reasons I always go back. There is always a new experience to be had.

Exactly! And sometimes, well often actually, they surprise me. It's pretty cool to be surprised and delighted.

:cool1: Do you have it in your ticker? I should change mine... I watched some videos... I think the excitement has me almost forgetting how worried I am about how hot it might be.

It will be hot but..it will also be early so that is motivating to move faster. Beat the sun! We will have an hour before it comes up. Granted that hour will likely be at 65 or even 70 but still. I do think that heat training in the summer here will help and if we have a summer like last, there will be plenty of opportunity for that. I know we had some runs in the high 80's last summer and a lot in the upper 70's low 80's. I plan to do some longer ish ones in the heat if I can. Jeff thinks I'm being ridiculous over the whole fuel/hydration thing. His position is that they will have plenty on the course and I will be fine with just hydration. He's also not convinced I need more than water given the time, or even that I need to train carrying any. He agrees it's important, just feels it will be there and not to worry as long as I make sure to take it on the course. He may be right, he may not but it's funny, that's the only part that stresses me out at the moment.

He then goes on to talk about how he never trained for a half. I did liken it to him making the jump from a half, or a full, to the tri. I was there when he did that and can assure you the man trained. I reminded him that for me, it's that kind of jump. He got it then but still thinks I'm over thinking. Which I am sure is true but that's hardly anything new is it.

Of course if I bomb at the 15K my position could change in a heartbeat. :rotfl:

I did update my ticker. I waited until after the registration went through, didn't want to jinx it lol.

I truly believe there are angels everywhere. You really found one. What a lovely lovely person and wow, I can only imagine that now when those supplies come in you can think of how it came to be and that right there would make me smile. I am so happy this worked out!!!!!!!

Hi Ann! Welcome back! Hope your trip went well. Did I see you are signed up for Disneyland? I am so on the fence about it. I was SUPPOSED to have my MRI last week on my back, but due to the storm we had here it has been moved to tomorrow, so I won't have any answers until at least Wednesday now so I am not sure if I should register or not. I guess I have two days to debate on it some more.

That insurance stuff is so annoying! So sorry you have had to deal with it! In order to get my MRI, I needed an X-Ray AND physical therapy. Could have save the insurance 2K if they just gave me the MRI to start!

Poor Zoe! I hope she feels better quickly! She just can't seem to catch a break.

You are gonna have to keep me motivated to run in the heat. I tend to get up with the sun so that I can avoid those 80 degree runs. ;)

I think considering you haven't trained thus far with fuel and hydration... Jeff is probably more right than wrong. However, #1 rule people will tell you is not to try anything new race day. So while what they have on the course may be absolutely all you need.... you should train with it. Know that your body isn't going to rebel at the notion of a packet of cliff shot. Personally, I can't choke it down. I skip it. I also tend to not take in much of the powerade. BUT the water... I tend to take a couple cups each station even though I bring my own. (one to dump over my head and one to drink from...and sometimes one to dump into my own bottle) Do I bring a huge fuel belt with multiple bottles? No. Some people do... it is what they need. I bring my single bottle. I fill it as necessary... and really, I probably could make sure to drink a lot at each station and not carry my one bottle. I like to sip though... and nibble. So a nibble each mile and a sip here and there is what I need. All of that may very well be psychological. I think you will have a better idea of what you need for the half this summer when it is not only warmer, but you are hitting running times over an hour consistently.

He then goes on to talk about how he never trained for a half. I did liken it to him making the jump from a half, or a full, to the tri. :rotfl: Is there something wrong with over thinking? I over think EVERYTHING! Ya know how i mentioned getting new shoes. Well, I ran in them today. 6.5 miles and Holy moly the bottoms of my feet hurt. I think that I should not have got the next half size up like I did. But then I think.. maybe it is cause that is the longest I have ran since the half... and January in total my miles sucked.. maybe my feet are just being wimpy right now. Then I think about how my last shoes fit... and on and on. ::yes:: I definitely am over thinking it.

Of course if I bomb at the 15K my position could change in a heartbeat. :rotfl:

You will not bomb at the 15k. You are going to make me jealous, that is what you are going to do! (and good a jealous, btw. I would never be a bad jealous kind of person. ;))

I did update my ticker. I waited until after the registration went through, didn't want to jinx it lol.

I updated too. :cool1:

I really really hope you can knock this out over the weekend and feel better!

I am feeling much better. Not quite 100%...but so much better than just a week ago.

I truly believe there are angels everywhere. You really found one. What a lovely lovely person and wow, I can only imagine that now when those supplies come in you can think of how it came to be and that right there would make me smile. I am so happy this worked out!!!!!!!

It is still a work in progress, but we are getting there! The ordered ones came...but do not include a necessary water packet. :headache: Then the manufacturer called on thursday to appologize that the samples had not been mailed, so put in another sample order. Then we received the order the next day... so I think that the first samples had actually been sent. These seem to be better than the ones we ordered, so I could see ordering this kind.

Poor Zoe...I hope she is doing better.

She is. Scraps have healed and as I mentioned above to Cynthia, the catheter issue is being resolved. Course, you did see my facebook post regarding tuesday? Paramedics were called and that was all kinds of crazy.

Hi Ann! Welcome back! Hope your trip went well.

Thank you. It was an awesome trip. Sometimes, I really do enjoy spending time with my family. I just need to get that TR started before my next trip...

Did I see you are signed up for Disneyland?

Yep. :cool1::cool1: I am pretty excited about it.

I am so on the fence about it.

I hope you decided before the decision was made for you. I can't believe how fast that filled up.

was SUPPOSED to have my MRI last week on my back, but due to the storm we had here it has been moved to tomorrow, so I won't have any answers until at least Wednesday now so I am not sure if I should register or not. I guess I have two days to debate on it some more.

Did you get some good answers? I hope your back is doing better.

insurance stuff is so annoying! So sorry you have had to deal with it! In order to get my MRI, I needed an X-Ray AND physical therapy. Could have save the insurance 2K if they just gave me the MRI to start!

Ugh!! That is so frustrating... all the red tape and hoops. :headache:

Poor Zoe! I hope she feels better quickly! She just can't seem to catch a break.

Nope she sure doesnt. Last tuesday there was a complete fiasco at school. The school nurse was out as was the district. With subs in place, they FREAKED out about Zoe's medical stuff. They ended up calling 911. I got to the school just after Kira did and in time to see them putting away the stretcher they had brought for Zoe. They were going to transport her to the hospital. The long and the short of it is that she was 15 minutes or so beyond her "scheduled" time that she caths and she was out of supplies (insurance stuff has kept me from sending too many to school) What a complete headache!!! Luckily, Kira brought some supplies and I was able to tell the paramedics to not transport her. Again...what a complete headache!!!
