The great debate (Why is the Lion always sleep)

Last November my DH and I took the Concierge Level AK Tour (which has ended now).

We were allowed to pull over as we wanted to view the animals. We saw both the lions up and moving. At one point the female lion moved away and the male started to roar. It seemed like he was saying "hey where are you going?"

Around the same area an ostrich came along and stood in the middle of the road. About 3 trucks were backed up and a handler was callied to remove the ostrich.

That was a great tour.

weve always thought or been told by the guides the animals are more active in the cool am's or at nite. in feb we went on the safari on a cool am....while we didnt get a pic of him tht i remember sititng up or walking around sure enough he was awake and sitting sphinx like. this was true for a lot of the animals on that trek, most weve ever seen and a lot just out roaming around.

also i think the guides say the females do most of the hunting and gathering which enables the male to sleep more during the day...sorry i may be fuzzy on this.

now back to the sing-along!
