Between several branches of our family, we have cruised 8 times. And after much scientific research, we have reached this conclusion.

The coffee aboard the Disney Magic contains no caffeine. On the contrary, it contains some secret ingredient that is designed to make you sleepy.

The beer on tap (for the beer mugs) contains no alcohol, and has no actualy "buzzing" affect.

Please contribute to our research, which may or may not be posted in the upcoming edition of the New England Journal of Medicine.

Hmmm, very interesting! I know the coffee at WDW is mostly instant, which has less caffine than fresh brewed. Is it the same on the boat?
I spent a week at an all-inclusive beach resort that provided wine with meals that I think was ultra-low alcohol. It kept people from over-doing it. Is the beer on tap part of the refillable mug program? Maybe it is the same deal- reduced alcohol?

The coffee everywhere is actually Nescafe. Premixed, not actually brewed, (despite the little bubble looking brewing thing on the front of the coffee machines) This much a CM told us....but as for the affects...still suspect. :)

Yes the beer on tap is the refillable beer.

Very interesting points you are making about instant coffee and low-alcohol beer....hmmmmmmm

But that is definately NOT COFFEE!

Which reminds me, can we bring coffee makers on board?

I don't know how I will handle a whole week without coffee!LOL

To add, on a recent cruse, we specifically drank coffee late at night to promote sleeping.

Former President Bush, on his recent cruise, reportedly commented, "I need a double espresso bad".

I know for a fact that the beer served on the Magic will get you drunk. It's done so for me many times!

Sorry Scratch 42 but no coffemakers for safety reasons. I think there was a thread a while back talking about specialty coffee available up near the lounge along the hallway to Parrot Cay - Promenade I think (sorry mind is drawing a blank on the name).

Also Palos had coffee or should I say Espresso available at the counter as I recall.

It can't be TOO awful - DH can not survive without coffee, I'll muddle through with tea as many times as coffee, and he never complained.

So I have a question. Do they have hot water on the side of the coffee machines? This way we could bring our own, coffee singles and make some real coffee. I can't live without coffee, I end up with a headache from lack of caffeine.

I believe they do but don't quote me 'cause I didn't have enough caffine in me to wake up to notice!LOL

Thanks for the great idea. Note to self: buy Folgers Coffee in Bags! They do still make those don't they?

If not, Coffee Press! Yes, I can pack a coffee press!

See I'm already going thru withdrawals just thinking about it!

Yes, I remeber a CM telling me that you could get good coffee at the Caddilac Lounge on the Wonder, so where would this be on the Magic?

We are from Seattle and MUST have our Seattles Best! We brought a FULL sized Coffee Maker on board with an automatic shut off for Safe guard reasons, Left it out in front of our cabin stuard for 7 days and he ever said a thing!

Good coffee is one of lifes little pleasures! Why wouldn't a premium cruise line have a Starbucks- type coffee bar available?

I will pack my little acrylic (purchased at a camping store) coffee press and some good coffee!

I am surprised that DCL is missing a chance to make extra money on this as I think people would pay extra for high-quality coffee drinks.

I will have to check out Sessions for Coffee!
