Our polling place is a church and I wouldn't say that interferes with the process at all. The church members serve food and drink all day.

The church I attend also is a polling place and we (and by that I mean they--I have nothing to do with it!) serve a very reasonably priced continental b'fast and soup luncheon.

What? I was robbed!! I didnt get any food or drink. I did get greeted in the parking lot by someone (who I *THINK*) holds a position in the church. Tried to talk to DH but i told him we needed to hurry and get in line, we had stuff to do. Im all about church- DH and i met through church. But... i dont know... not the place i want to walk into when im going to cast my ballot. It was just strange for me.

This is our NEW polling place this year. In the past its been in a bank, but this year since we are "growing"... they had us in this church, sent out new voter cards and everything.

I felt like i was walking to the alter to confess what I was about to do... because unfortunately- no politican makes it very far without lying their butt off and being somewhat corrupt.

My polling place is in a Church of God building. Literally, I had to walk down the aisle of the church, go to the alter, turn, and check in....

We use the schools in my town. One year they had everyone in town vote at the High School. What a mess that was. So now we are back to being split up all over town.
We went and voted about 1:30 and we got in and out. But they did ask DD for an ID. When the guy saw she was 21 he almost fell over.

As far as keeping an eye on the boy Madd DH is all over that.

Sorry you got a flat tire Madd. But my DH would also want to know what it was I ran over. Like that would make it any less flat

Around here, most of the voting places are in churches, schools, or libraries. I've never seen voting in the actual sanctuary before. Usually it is in the social hall of the church.

I waited in line for 45 minutes this morning to vote. I thought the lines would be okay since 30,000 people had voted early. I was wrong.

I do feel ripped off, though, because no one has ever served food at the church where I vote.

See now I think that those that are in office should HAVE to vote in churches....that way they can go to the confessional afterwards

I voted yesterday morning- I was scared to death to watch TV all day b/c I could not stand the anticipation. I am not one for guessing games- I need to know the final outcome or forget about it.

I went to bed last night not knowing who won- I was scared to watch- I wanted to wake up and it be official.

I woke @ 3am to pee- I was SO tempted to go downstairs and flick on the TV to see who won, but I didn't I was scared- did my guy win? I tossed and turned a little before falling back to sleep

I woke up this morning @ 6:30- instead of running for the TV- I tortured myself and made DH coffee- I was going to make him breakfast, but I was too wired- WHY do I play these weird head games with myself????.......I just HAD to see if my guy won! I couldn't stand it one more minute!

I turn on the TV.........................and.............................

HE WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OBAMA WON!!!!!!!​

I am sorry- I just HAD to get that off of my chest!

I saw that. In my town Obama lost. For some reason this town seems to be a Replublican town.

I can't find that info about my town? I went on our town website and there is nothing there.

How did you find that? I would be very curious to see- I know he did win NJ!

School is always in session for election day and the voting takes place in a spot that requires kids to go back/forth among the voters (not usually a problem, but for Presidential elctions it is). For that one day they don't seem to have a problem with 'outside' people being in there with the kids.

I stayed up until the vote was in last night and I am so glad that I did. The speech Obama gave was really great and my town changed from Rep to Dem. This year I would say we were ready for a change. Now the state however was so close. Sorry you had a long torturous night of waiting.

Leaving them open makes it unsafe for the kids. To many people in and out.

But now in Mass if you feel the need you may have under an oz of pot on you and not be arrested. You will be given a ticket

That is odd- our schools are always closed for election day, they always have been. (is that Jersey Week in Disney???? )

No telling what they are thinking. Or even if! They don't close schools here for that but I like the idea. They alread take one day/month as a teacher work day. They should think about combining the two, perhaps. Then they could vote in the Cafetorium (Cafeteria/gymnasium) instead of in the main hallway.
