No, they have a 2 week max in the hospital hospice, usually no one makes it that long.. anyway, they had to release him bc of insurance. BUT I do think he is happier here at the house, we have him in the living room so he does not feel secluded, and at least we are foprtunate enough that I dont work and can take care of him. They keep telling us "it will be any day" but he keeps hanging on... the hardest part is explaining it to Wes.. he does not understand why Poppy cant play anymore, or why he is in bed all of the time

that is so sad. I hope things turn around for you, but if they don't im sure you will do a great job explaining things. I hope Chad is doing okay with everything-- i know it must be really hard on him especially.

Thanks Mags Chad is taking things pretty well, I think it will sink in when everything is said and done. As bad as this sounds, we have had a year to try to prepare ourselves mentally for it. As far as explaining to Wes when he passes, I got a book from our local BAM that will hopefully help explain it in a way he can understand. I am sorry you are going thru this.
I was going to say they have some great books to help kids understand. When my dad passed away my brothers 2 older kids had a hard time. Their DR told them what books to pick up and they helped.
But I know the DR said to give them a chance to say good bye.

Yeah, I got a children's book that talks about him going to Heaven and how he will always be in our hearts. As far as saying goodbye, that is difficult, because he honestly looks scary to Wes, I think. The Cancer has just eaten away at him, and he looks like a skeleton, and sleeps a lot. He has also lost his hearing due to chemo, and is having difficulty "getting his thoughts out". Wes knows it is Poppy, but it certainly does not look like him And, I know it sounds like I am talking about a really old man, but he is only 56. Cancer is HORRIBLE.

ANYWAY! To lighten things up a bit, I wanted to tell you guys some funny things I noticed going to pick Wes up from his dad's last night (3 1/2 hour drive!) So, we are in the truck, and of course we are listening to Disney music.. and of course Wes sings all of the songs (as Maggie can tell you lol). ANYWAY! I turned the volume down a little lower than normal so I could hear him b etter (it just makes me smile) and his lyrics were very very funny!

James and the Giant Peach- We're Family
We found a pee, we found a pee, we found a pee, me and you!

There were more, but of course I can't think of them right now!~

As far as saying goodbye, that is difficult, because he honestly looks scary to Wes, I think. The Cancer has just eaten away at him, and he looks like a skeleton, and sleeps a lot. He has also lost his hearing due to chemo, and is having difficulty "getting his thoughts out". Wes knows it is Poppy, but it certainly does not look like him And, I know it sounds like I am talking about a really old man, but he is only 56. Cancer is HORRIBLE.

Ive got to do better building my disney dvd collection. I have all the classics on VHS-- but those are heading to the yard sale pile. Anyone know of a current list of Disney DVDs that have been released? My little man must become a disney watcher like Wes. I have a ton of CD's though already in the car, no hurting in that dept! LOL

Okay freaps I have to brag.... You all will understand and I have no one else to brag to right now (although I will make DH see these... lol). Im very pleased to show these.

My last photos of the "momma dog" were on April 29. Today is May 4 and here she is.... and the best part - SHE LEFT FOOD IN HER BOWL! She didnt even eat it all. She left the bowl and started sniffing around the house, checking the place out. She rolled in the grass for a bit, came back, took another bite, looked around a bit more, and headed out. Before, she would come- gobble up every single bite (not dropping any- and today there was droppage and she didnt pick it up) and then once the bowl was empty she would hurry and run off. Today, she hung out... and she must have got full because there was some left. I am so proud of her! She looks good too. I mean, the camera adds 10lbs... but still ! Im hoping that soon we have little puppies coming. I cannot wait to get them homes! Ill miss them though. Im thinking Ive got another month or so with her... maybe more depending on whether the puppies come for food too.

Oh, and don't pay much attention to the HIGH grass. I used to mow-- but decided a few weeks ago to stop (probably in my best interests although the doc said i still can). And everyday DH has been off its rained (and its practically rained for the last few days straight). LOL... not a great excuse, but still.

I know... 4 and 1/2 months seems like its far away, but when i say 20wks compared to a 40wk full term delivery-- i feel like im getting close!

Okay madd here is the update just NOW on momma dog. I saw her outside the office window (where i take a lot of the photos)... she came right up to the food bowl. I didn't put out a lot today (maybe about a cup and a half-- ive been feeding her a good 2 cups+ everyday just because she is so bad. I know people say dont overfeed-- but i cant imagine shes getting food anywhere else by looking at her (and the good thing is our trash isnt getting knocked over anymore). hahaha, I know, Madd does not have a friend in MEAT! lol... I will try to listen more today while we are running errands, he says a lot of silly silly things!

Maggie, if you want to get a bargain on Disney DVDs, you might see if you can find a consignment sale somewhere around you.. we have one here in the fall and Spring, and I always pick up DVDs for dirt cheap! Hey, and be sure to look for the Baby Einsteins to! Or better yet, see if anyone on the trading thread has any???

We have had a TON of rain here as well! And more coming on Thurs! Our lawn looks about like yours, so no worries

Maggie----she looks so good!!!! what a great thing you've been doing for that dog....
we had a stray cat we did that with at our old apartment. started showing up and was skittish and so skinny and we put a thing of food and water out for it everytime it came and finally after a while, it actually started to let me met pet it...and it started to look so healthy...one of our neighbors actually ended up keeping the cat and by the time we moved, that kitty was Such a spoiled little inside lap cat! It felt so good to know that I had a hand in it!

I have a myspace, and just signed up for facebook at a few friends requests. Holy Moly-- the amount of people on here is CRAZY! I feel like i just walked into high school all over again (myspace must be the dead zone..lol). Anyway... WHAT DO I DO?

So someone writes me on my wall-- like a fellow freap and I want to write back to her... does it only stay on my wall? Or how does she see it? Im so confused. Im used to Myspace where you comment back and it doesnt show anything on your page- just theirs. HELP!

If you comment back to her post on your wall, she will get a notification that you have commented however the response will only be on YOUR wall. However you can go to her page and post to her wall. I've been on FB for about 4-ish years so if you have any other questions, let me know...hopefully I could help you out

I've been on both for a while and I know a bit. And there are ALOT more people on there. I've found a lot more people from high school and growing up on there and myspace, which is pretty AWESOME! Anyways, as for your friend writing on your wall. You can click on her profile and write on her wall. To do that, once you get to her profile, you will see a box at the top of the page that says write something. And then just post. Hope this helps. I must say I tend to like facebook more than myspace. Myspace, even though I love it, at times seems a little overcrowded with all the content on people's profiles, where as facebook is a little more simple and with less spam. So I hope this helps. If you have any more issues, just let me know.

either one works really. If it is something longer I am posting in repsonse I'll usually just post straight to their wall, rather than just comment to their post to mine...

also, you can send messages. So if stuff you are writing is something you'd rather keep between the two of you and not let everyone see, you can do that...the message button is under their profile pic...
