The Good Ole Freap Chat ~ Sequel Part III ~

Aww.. Maggie your belly is precious!! I was really small like that until the last two months with Wes!

So.. I am having doggie woes this week to.. we have a Jack Russel that some one dropped off out here in the country (who was also just bone thin)- I couldnt let him just stay starved outside, so I took him in, hoping to find him a home soon.. he is a WONDERFUL dog, and had to have nice owners at some point, he is potty trained and a lap dog. ANYWAY, we recently moved, so of course I brought him with. Well, apparently some JERK was driving way to fast down our road (should have been going about 20! had to of been going 50!) HIT HIM a few days ago! Our neighbor, who luckily saw it happen, rushed him to the vet, and then called me. He broke his jaw in 3 places, had to have it wired back together, and is pretty bruised up (he is on a doggie IV even!). DBF and I decided since we are going to pay this large vet bill, he is pretty much stuck with us as owners :) He is staying at the vet this weekend, and gets to come home (officially now) on Monday. I know the economy makes things bad for some folks, but I cant imagine dropping my dog or cat off and driving away!!

The girls on my other pregnancy boards are HUGE. They really look pregnant in clothes-- and we are all due at the same time.

Here is a girl who is as far along as I am (By the way this is a public board-- if it was password protected i would never share these -I chose photos who don't show faces)... and the others fall in as big as these. I think I am the smallest of the girls over there right now. I wondered for the longest time if there was really something in me at all. But I feel kicking everyday, so now that helps too.

As far as your new dog-- so great of you to take him in. We absolutely can't. We can't deal with another responsibility like that. Im going to feed her back to health and hopefully find someone who can give her a loving home. I hope your dog has a full recovery. Im sure it's cute! Poor jaw!

poor doogie. your belly looks so cute and I am glad you are an animal person. I haven't wanted to think about her driving yet because that leads to dating:scared1: and well mama ain't ready:goodvibes

Are you guys getting excited since the end of school is near? I guess you will be moving soon after:woohoo:

Tinker- How great to see you posting!!:yay:We have missed you.
This weekend I have kickboxing class my friend is running for a bunch of us moms. I really like it. After I have to do a huge food shop with my kids because this week I am in the local musical if Suessical. Basically I will be abandoning my guys because I have rehearsal every day 'till 8:30, then the shows start Thursday and run through the weekend. So, if it doesn't get done this weekend, it's not getting done 'till next Sunday night....:rolleyes1

I used to LOVE kickboxing -- and as you can see earlier from my photo-- I love food too (My hips will tell you the same). Have fun this weekend!

All of you talking about planting is making me excited. Ive got to pot my tomato plants now that the warm weather is here to stay. Anyone using pots for other veggies (i.e. peppers or anything).

I am going to try and grow my tomatoes upside down this year like disney because chances are we will be in an apartment. Still waiting to hear back about student housing. I am ready for the break and so I can start packing. I was really small too until about 7 months.

OH my gosh you are def the smallest one of the group! I know you are dying to be bigger now, but just be happy, your tummy is taking its time and you will have fewer strech marks :)

NBmom- let me know how that upside down growing goes! I have been thinking about doing that myself! Now if I could just find those MM plastic molds that shape your veggies... lol!

Hey everyone,

Tink good to see you around.
Maggie your belly looks cute. I sis not show with DD till I was 7 months. I just had a little bump. Then lordly I woke up huge one day.:rotfl2:

Not to much going on around here this weekend. I am trying to get some things done around the house before I have my surgery on Thursday. I know tonight DH is taking me out to dinner.
then in the morning I will drive into see DD and bring her some food. She was kind enough to email me her food shopping list.:lmao:
But the good news with her is she only has to take one final exam. Her grades are high enough that she will not need to take the others. But one of her prof. makes everyone take it no matter what. But she said she plans on taking the others just because she wants to see how she does.
She is also going to be signing up for some classes to help get into law school. So I guess she will be looking for some money from me also.

Maggie, don't feel bad about being tiny. By the time I was 6 months pregnant, I had complete strangers asking me if I was having twins. :scared1:

My response was always, "No, but thanks for reminding me how huge I am."

I gained 75 pounds. The sad thing is that I still have 50 of them.

:hippie: thanks! I missed you guys to!! :goodvibes: What do you play? Sounds like you have a busy week ahead!!!
I am Mrs Mayor of Whovile. A little background on this- it is for the local high school's theater department. I am a lunch lady at the school (and know many of the teens from when I helped start up the local teen center a few years back.) So, when they are short on actors, or when they think a part would be better for an adult actor, they ask me. This is the second time I have been in one of their shows. And I have to say, it must be 'cause they like me, because my voice is pretty iffy.....:lmao: Mr Mayor and I have managed to make most of out solo songs chorus numbers, or speak, or sing as a duo, most of our songs. :goodvibes

OH my gosh how fun to be involved with that, and it is sooo sweet that they ask YOU to do it!! You will have to take pics for the FREAPS :)

I have to get some herbs too- My mint is coming up like crazy in the garden, but I do not see my basil or lavender from last year:guilty: I thought they were perrenials. Where are they?

I want to get some herbs for my kitchen window sill too- I will plant them in cute little tea cups or something to add a little character.

Basil is definitely NOT a perennial. I've never even heard of any reseeding itself for the next year.:confused3 Lavendar is but it's one of those that can be a little touchy, so it may not have made it through the winter.:sad2: I always start my basil from seed since I use tons of it. It is easy to start yourself, along with chives, mint and parsley. The ones I have that reseed themselves are cilantro and dill. I have both coming up all over the place right now.

For my bookclub today we read "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle" which is all about eating locally. I made an Ale-8 pound cake to take. Ale-8 is a local ginger ale that is made up the road and I even had some fresh local eggs to use. I have some peaches left over from Dad's trees last summer to have on top. Yummmm...... I do have blackberries and raspberry bushes but last summer's crop is long gone except for 3 bottles of blackberry wine we still have.

Tinker-welcome back! We missed you.:grouphug:

Hey Freaps! Hope everyone had a great weekend. We did but it has been awfully warm and there have been quite a few fires around the state.:sad2: I'm not quite ready for the heat of summer.:headache:

I have been making my way around some of the many "swine" flu threads going on and stirring the pot. I know I'm bad but I just can't stand to see people work themselves into a panic over something like this.:confused3 On the DCL board, people are reporting calling DCL to insist that they cancel the stops at Cozumel immediately. And then they are upset when they don't feel the Disney love in return.:rotfl2:Can you imagine how many paranoid, germaphobe Disney mommas have been burning up the Disney phone lines today? Do they really think that DCL will rearrange their travel schedule to suit Dis fanatics or actually pay attention to what the state dept. and CDC have to say?

OH wow! I guess I have not heard much about this yet! haha, shows you how in the loop I am!

So, I went and picked up Buddy from the vet today (and paid the hefty bill lol) he looks a little rough, but I think he is going to be ok. He has to be spoon fed wet food for now, and is on pain meds and antibiotics.. I take him back in a month to get all of the wires out of his muth, poor thing! Because of all of the wires, he has a perma smile.. so he is just walking around the house, checking things out with this smile on his face, it's pretty cute ;)

i hope Buddy will be okay. But sadly enough I was thinking I wonder if she will post a picture. How sad is that of me.

Marnia with all the swine flu talk the press I think is just kinda making it worse.

No, I will post a pic! All I have is a before pic right now, but I will take you an after one after dinner :)

Wake up freaps! I will catch up on all of your posts later tonight, but I said I was going to post Tues morning and, well, it's Tuesday:rotfl2: What happened to the weekend??

Sat- we did go yard saling. Did not find much. It was H-O-T! and I get very cranky in the heat. Give me a nice crispy fall day 65-70 and I am a happy girl! Did not get compost to my poor little roses- but I did power wash the deck- it looks brand new- who would have thought :lmao: Now I have to stain it next week. My Flyers lost, they are out of the playoffs- another year of disappointment for Flyers fans:sad1:

Sun- we did the bike run. Again, it was too HOT! When we were moving it was OK- but waiting to start up the run and down the shore was HOT. They SURE did take the long way to Wildwood from Camden. Maybe they thought it was nice to take us along the "scenic route" but OMG! I am pretty sure at one point we were on the WEST coast!:lmao: Well, that is what my butt felt like- OUCH!

I am certain we PISSED OFF many a Sunday traveler during the ride. The State and Twp police had every single on ramp stopped so we can ride with no interruptions. You should have seen the back ups along the way! People we sitting outside of their cars when we went by, I am sure the run had to take an hour to pass by all the on ramps- and those people had to sit and wait for us. It was pretty cool to have the entire highway to ourselves though.

I am sure those people waiting to go somewhere did not give a rats patootie that we were doing the run to help out families of fallen service people.

I have some pics that I will post later. I did not even download them yet.

Mon- we girls had a BLAST in Philly!!! Our first stop right next to the parking garage, Naked Chocolate Café for some drinking chocolate! I usually get the "spicy" but this time, I thought I would try the chocolate with the caramel and sea salt. It was good, but I like my spicy better! :worship:

Did lots of shopping. Got some cute jeans at Bebe, got some yummy smelling Sea Island Cotton hand soap and body butter at BBW, and a few cute things at NY and CO (I had a coupon $25 off of $75- so of course, you HAVE to shop there:rolleyes1) We had an awesome lunch at Jones on Chestnut (in case anyone local is lurking here and wants to check it out- they have great "comfort food" It is a Stephen Starr restaurant- that is all that needs to be said;))

No matter where us 3 go or what we do, all we do is laugh- so it was a really fun day!

Now- it is Tuesday and I am back to work:guilty:

Like I said- I will catch up on all of your posts later- I have to get to work!:scared:

Everyone have a wonderful day:flower3:

UGH- we already have a few possible cases here in NJ- once you hear of cases in NYC- you know it will be a matter of seconds before it hits NJ!

My SIL is in Cabo and a friend of DH's is in Cancun right now.

I think airplane air is creepy anyway, yuk- I hate breathing while flying :rotfl2:- Imagine thinking the flu is lurking in the air?

But there is nothing you can do- it could be on a door handle that you touch. It will hit everywhere soon enough and there is nothing we can do to stop it. :confused3

OH my gosh Madd you had a busy weekend!!! Sounds like fun can't wait to see the pics.

So- last night I took Wes to see DBF's dad in the hospital, and when we were leaving this woman jumps on the elevator with us, and points at me and says "You really shouldn't have your litle boy up here, he could catch the swine flu and die." I just looked at her like she was nuts, and said, "Last time I checked that was my decision to make, I don't think I should hide in my home bc the media is blowing things out of porportion." We havent even had in cases here in AR yet, and I HATE it when people do things like that, how rude, you know? If she would have said it differently I would have kept my mouth closed, but come on, we are there in HOSPICE seeing a dying man. Haha, apparently I did not realize how much it pissed me off until I just looked and saw how much I wrote lol..

ANYWAY! Here is a Buddy after picture.. it is BW bc it is the only way you can see the wire (under his chin)-- the rest of them are inside, and of course, he will not let me take a picture of that ;) He has a fracture around his eye area to, which is why he seems droopy..

Madd- sounds like you had a fun time with the girls. Did you get some sun on the bike? Dh and I rode around in the prowler on Sunday and even though I already have a base tan... i did get tan on my arms more-so than anywhere else--- now i have to figure out how im going to even it out. lol

Cassi- Your dog is so cute! That poor jaw! I hope he has a full recovery soon- I cant deal with sick animals!

I have a huge surprise planned for my two DDs for their birthday. They have no idea and I can't post on here what it is until Monday since they love reading my posts on here but it is definitely something awesome.

How did the b-day surprise turn out!!!?:yay:

As for what I've been doing lately-- here has been the highlight of my last few days... me- peeking out the window (I wrote about it here)
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2157696
POOR little mama dog..

Any news on "momma dog"??? That is so great that you are feeding her. :flower3:

Mint is pretty impossible to kill. That's why I never grow it. I don't like to keep cutting it back.

I am worried about that! Last year not long after I planted it- I could see it was getting a little wild! This year? It is popping up all over the garden! I am afraid it is going to start growing up under the brand new driveway and crack it!

Basil is definitely NOT a perennial. I've never even heard of any reseeding itself for the next year.:confused3 Lavendar is but it's one of those that can be a little touchy, so it may not have made it through the winter.:sad2: I always start my basil from seed since I use tons of it. SEE! There you go making things from scratch!:rotfl2: I was reading your recipe to DH- sounds yummy!:cutie:

Aw- I thought basil was a perennial- that's OK- I will just plant more this year. I do not see my Cilantro or Lavendar coming up anywhere- only mint! Mint everywhere:scared1: I wonder if it has anything to do with me having DH run them over last year with the lawnmower at the end of the season instead of me just cutting them back:laughing:

So- last night I took Wes to see DBF's dad in the hospital, and when we were leaving this woman jumps on the elevator with us, and points at me and says "You really shouldn't have your litle boy up here, he could catch the swine flu and die." :scared1: That woman is a psycho! Good for you giving her a piece of your mind!:thumbsup2 Sorry to hear about your DBF's father :guilty:

Poor little Buddy!!! Did the JO stop or keep going?

Madd- sounds like you had a fun time with the girls. Did you get some sun on the bike? Dh and I rode around in the prowler on Sunday and even though I already have a base tan... i did get tan on my arms more-so than anywhere else--- now i have to figure out how im going to even it out. lol

Yes- I got a lot of sun on Sunday! I put SPF70 on before we left, but I still got a little burnt.

Ugh- You will probably have to use that crappy self-tanning lotion to get evened up. I hate that stuff. There is nothing like the burning rays of light bulbs for a great tan!:3dglasses

I have few pics from the ride- none of us though.

We saw these guys on the way down to the shore!

We were about in the middle of the ride-

I held the camera up and just snapped this one of the bikes behind us- this guy looks like he was smiling for the camera!

OMG Madd, there were a ton of you and for a great cause!! How fun :goodvibes:

No, the guy/girl didn't stop.. it's a good thing our neighbor saw it happen, or else he prob would have died on the road :( Anyway.. hopefully he starts feeling better soon, he is on doggie painkillers, amd is sleeping most of the day now.

And thanks for saying that about DBF's dad.. it is so hard to watch him suffer though this. Cancer is HORRIBLE :(

Hey Maggie- soak some hand towels in cool water and lay them on your arms one day to even out- it will keep you cool and block the UV's! I hate that self tanner, I always look like an Ooompa Loompa!

I didnt get burned at all-- just darker on my arms and right above my chest where my shirt came down low.

Madd- I have seen "momma dog" a few times since then. Im still feeding her daily (took some food out this morning). I think im waking up passed the time shes coming through. Yesterday the food did leave in the afternoon (dh and i went out to run a few errands). However, I do know that there is a cat around here thats been feeding off the food too. I havent seen momma dog in about 2 or 3 days, but I pray its her getting the food. I love cats-- but I live on farmland-- plenty of rodents around, trust me! I have shrews and moles coming out of my ears in my yard. LOL they make big tunnels in my flower beds. lol.

Let me just say that naming a person you don't even know is hard business! Dh and I have been trying to do this whole "naming" thing... and its hard! I feel like im sticking a stereotype or something on him. Will he get made fun of? Is it a baby and an adult-type name? LOL its HARD! When you are younger you always have these names you think about-- but when it comes down to it its not that easy.

So yesterday for me and DH was work in the backyard day (ofcourse after he got in his routine 18holes of golf). We put in an in-ground pool in Feb and still have no grass growing around it. We have seeded and seeded-- im starting to think its a lost cause. When we seeded our yard after we built the grass came right up in no time. I dont know whats wrong here. I planted some of my flowers yesterday and im pretty proud of them. I have a tomato plant and a pepper plant growing in pots-- along with some herbs (basil, thyme, rosemary, etc). I feel like we accomplished quite a bit yesterday... but then again, it always feels like theres so much more to be done.
