The Good Ole Freap Chat ~ Sequel Part III ~

I am heading into town to mail some things that DH was supposed to mail for me but just kept bringing them back into the house. :sad2:

DS told me he asked the teacher to stop checking to see if he could be added to the list for the Washington DC trip. I think yesterday was a bad day for him and he was tired. He is supposed to be raising money for his band class trip to Salt Lake City and he is hoping to make it to Nationals in Speech & Debate next year so I think he was feeling overwhelmed yesterday. He said the teacher was having trouble getting him added to the list so he just told him to stop trying.

DS is like that. Sometimes he reacts to things pretty quickly and I often wish he wouldn't. I told him he should make plans to go to Washington for the next inaugural in four years. He just smiled at me. I think he is too young to think that far ahead. :rolleyes1

Anyway....I am disappointed and I think he is, too, but his feelings of let down are moving on faster than mine. ;)

It is to bad he will not be going to D.C.
DD and her pals think he is cute. I was reading the thread and she wanted to know who it was. When I told her he was your son she said he is cute.:lovestruc

Hi Freaps. I have been in a major funk since I lost all hope of a spring WDW trip.:sad2: I know in the grand scheme of life it is no big deal but I'm still moping around for some reason. Our finances are a disaster of epic proportions right now, so I know in my heart that DH is right. It's just the way he goes about it that ticks me off, letting me go on and on about it, making plans for every day, etc.:headache: And then, dropping the bomb on me. Money issues are so depressing. The one positive note in my day-I think XM radio reads the Freap Chat and saw my b****ing about the AC/DC channel because now they have added a whole Grateful Dead channel!:cool1:

Sorry you are in a funk- I am too. I am certain mine is PMS- but that might be worse b/c everything pisses me off:lmao:

I thought Sirius always had a Grateful Dead channel- But wait! Are you an XM subscriber, not Sirius? Did you just get the GD channel today!? I ask only b/c I woke up this morning and turned on my laptop to listen to Sirius online and I almost had a panic attack!

Hello- I was going all up and down the Rock stations and could NOT find my Hard Attack #27!!!:scared1:  :scared: For the love of god no! I only see something on 27 called Liquid Metal or something like that!:confused3 I clicked on it and ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, my music was still there. Loud and obnoxious just like I love it!:worship: :worship:

Anyway- They combined channels from XM and Sirius starting today- you think they would have warned us- I was freaking!

ETA- AND I am PO'd right now b/c I cannot get on the Sirius site!!!!!! WTH!!?

.

I'm an XM subscriber and they sent me an email saying I could upgrade to get the "Best of Sirius". I really didn't want to spend any more $ so hadn't thought of it again until today when they sent me another email saying that new channels were available. I just looked at the site and they now have a bunch of stuff from Sirius AND got my Fungus channel back. And I'm most excited that I now get the NPR channel too(I know I'm a total dork:laughing: ) without having to pay any more. From what I can tell, all the channels have been realigned and may have different numbers, so it's going to be confusing for awhile.:confused3 So at least there is one bit of happiness in my otherwise crappy day.

It was the same with Sirius subscribers- we could upgrade to "The Best of XM" I was like you, no thanks, why should I pay more, when I like what I have. My metal station only changed names- but it is still on the same channel.

I still cannot get on the Sirius website to listen. I was on this morning listening to Howard (Can you get Howard now?:confused3 Channels 100 and 101) but then I had to shut down my computer- I went to get back on and now I can't- BUT! I can get on XM:mad:

Bhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!

JK for some reason your post just popped in my head and I had to go find it!!! It was on last weeks freebie thread and I wanted to comment then but forgot.

I wanted to tell you ITA, that movie was incredible! I loved Colin Farrell's role- he was funny- but it was pretty disturbing WHY they actually had to BE.........In Bruges!:guilty:
I thought it was great the way things were revealed, and how quickly some pretty funny things happened. LOVED The Canadiens in the restaurant, and the little person's rant :happytv: . I think the only things I had seen him in before were Phone Booth (really, an HOUR AND A HALF in a phone booth, but I watched it, so who's really to blame there :confused3 ) and Alexander (bad wig and frostbite and Val Kilmer- :scared: ).

I never cared for Colin Farrell until I saw that movie. I saw him in a movie called Tigerland- I did not like the types of movies he did- so I stayed away. If he does more comedies- I will certainly go see them:thumbsup2

So hopefully everyone is having a better day than me.
First it started with the insurance company wanted to stop the visting nurse. So I deal with them and fix all that.
Then I check in with HR at work every Thursday to keep them up to date.
I found out they did another lay off at work. I plan on being back to work the first of Dec. But my get hit in the next lay off. So I may not even have a job to go to.

Then the cherry on top is DH unemployment runs out in two weeks.
So how was your day?

Okay vent over

OMG Kellie= sorry to hear all of that!

You keep fighting with your insurance company! Those heartless jerks will cut off anyone even when they know you need the care! :sad2: They should be ashamed of themselves. I look at Bull%$#@ insurance denials all day long! They want to see how far they can push people. You just have to fight back.

For a few months we had one insurance company (which will remain nameless:rolleyes1 ) denying SO many of our claims stating they were not medically necessary- when our collection dept called them about all the denials, they said it was .....................A GLITCH!

Yeah! OK? they are just seeing how long they can put off paying for a claim! Do they think we are idiots!

I know I asked this a long time ago- but have you seen the Michael Moore movie- Sicko?

Can you go on disablity if you are out of a job?

And can DH's benefits be extended if he goes to one of those bogus unemployment meetings they set up??? You know, the classes they have when they tell you how to get a job- like we do not know how to do that!:sad2: You just need someone to give you one!

The insurance company said they will allow the visting nurse till the 21st then we will take it from there. They said that if you do not fight them they let it go. What is wrong with these people. :confused3 I told them that DH is not trained to do wound care and he would not know if the wound is getting infected or if I am cooking a steak dinner in there.
As far as work goes I think they are just waiting for me be cleared to return then I am going to get let go. So as soon as my disablity runs out from work I am going to be in a jam.
DH has done all the classes and the junk to keep the unemployment till now. Unless someone signs some type of bill to extend unemployment he is done and nothing they can do for him.

I am sorry to hear you guys are going through all this...after everything else you have been through!

Hang in there....don't let them stress you...if you can help it. :goodvibes

Healthcare in this country definitely needs a turn around!! I have no advice about the unemployment...you guys know your situation better than we do...I hope things turn around very, very quickly for you guys. :wizard:

You can ask your doc to write a letter for you telling the insurance company how important it is that you have the visiting nurses!

You (or your doc) might want to throw in a threat- along the lines of what you mentioned about your DH not knowing anything about wound care- tell them IF anything happens B/C they would not approve additional care, you will be seeking legal rep! It is disgusting what they put people though. Most people let it go b/c they do not know any better, it is so sad :guilty:

SPEAK UP PEOPLE! CHALLANGE YOUR INSURANCE COMPANIES! GET YOUR DOC INVOLVED IF HE IS WILLING. DON'T SETTLE FOR A DENIAL OR TERMINATION OF BENEFITS!

Sorry- can you tell I have been in the business way too long. Our government should be ashamed of themselves with healthcare the way it is! :sad2: It's all just a money grubbing business! Let's give more bail out money to the big businesses, and spend more money on the war- imagine what that money can do for people who need healthcare and FOOD! Oh- and how about a roof over their heads!

ugh- I have to stop writing before I get into trouble. :guilty:

Watch Sicko!!!!

It is ridiculous how the insurance companies act with alot of this stuff. I deal with them daily and I keep saying this to whomever will listen....with the care we do (home health care) each & every HMO we have that the patient is paying a premium for REQUIRES an authorization. It is very rare that an insurance co. does not. However, the state run programs and medicare do not require an authorization :confused3 So let me get this straight? Insurance companies who are getting paid big bucks by me & you are making you jump through hoops to prove medical necessity and being denied but anyone on state funded healthcare does not ~ if I am footing your bill I want to make sure you need that care vs. want that care. I am not saying thats the fix either because there are ALOT of problems with the healthcare system and I don't see it getting any better :sad2:

I have had a few elderly people call me about copays that they owe after Medicare paid their portion.

One poor woman said she was not even aware that she needed supplemental health insurance to cover her copays and another woman was almost crying saying she needs the money to buy food and the only income she has is from Social Security!:sad1:

Needless to say, I wrote off their balances as a courtesy, but there are not a lot of providers that would do that:guilty:

Oh Kellie, I'm so sorry to hear about your and John's troubles. Having to worry about whether or not you have a job or enough money for necessities is NOT something you need to be dealing with right now. And I'm too tired for a full-blown rant right now, but I agree with the other Freaps, the health care industry in this country is a total farce. And this whole bail out business is nonsense. If we had followed our own Anti-trust legislation these huge companies would not be in a position to make or break our economy. It just makes me:sick: to even think about it with people like us facing lay-offs, bankruptcies, foreclosures, etc. with no one to bail us out! The powers that be BETTER extend unemployment benefits and try to do something to help the common man or bailing out GM will do no good. Who's gonna buy those $30,000 cars?:confused3 Okay....so maybe I did have enough energy for a little rant.

So true the world is crazy. Health care is crazy.I pay them so much money and they want to cut corners on me getting better. The women I spoke with was very sweet. She did work to get it them to allow it till the 21st. But Like I said to her what happens if I had no DH or anyone to help me:confused3
With all the bail out you are right Marna the last thing I am going to do is buy a car anytime soon. Sadly bailing out the auto makers is not going to solve this. People will not be buying cars.
As DH says what they are doing is like putting purfume on a pig

:headache: You'd think I'd have better communication skills by now.... :sad2:

The doctors in our area can be as bad as the insurance companies! They are not (all) very sympathetic or helpful. And, if there is a disability involved, some can work as much against you as the insurance company. It probably isn't that way so much in other areas of the country....

 Kellie. I wish I could think of something witty or give some solid advice, but I've got nothing. I can send more coupons out from the next Sunday paper if you would like?

I'm Republican and even I think the healthcare system is very bad joke, on us. If the insurance companies would spend more time helping their people than trying to make money for the stockholders, if the pharmacutical company spent their advertising money on producing better medicine for less money, maybe the system could be fixed. But they won't. And we all pay more because of it. Makes me sick to think about it.
