I just hope the headwriter change is a good thing, and not the begining of the end of GH >.<

On twitter today Laura Wright posted that she was sad about the news of Ingo leaving. She said she hates it and that its a big mistake. So I'm thinking that it wasn't his choice to go?

Nope he got fired.

http://abc.soapsindepth.com/2011/05/ingo-fired-from-gh.html

After a decade and a half in Port Charles, Ingo Rademacher (Jax) is leaving GENERAL HOSPITAL. "It is with mixed emotions and regret that I write this note to you, my fans and colleagues," Rademacher says in a statement. "After 15 years on GH portraying Jax I must say goodbye. I'm fired.

"Yes, I know that's sounds bad but sometimes little birds need a shove out of the nest to find their wings... better late then never? I'm trying to find some humor in all this. Even though this was not my call, I think my GH days were almost up anyway."

Rademacher made his GH debut in 1996, taking a short break in 2000 during which time he starred in the primetime soap TITANS before returning to Port Charles the following year. "I would like to thank everyone at GH, the producers, directors, crew, my fellow actors and ABC/Disney for making my 15 years enjoyable and fun. It was always a great place for me to work and I will have fantastic memories. I would again like to thank my fans and especially my "Jax Angels" who have been there for me, supporting me in every way, from Day One. Thank you!"

A spokesperson for GH confirms that Rademacher will indeed be exiting the canvas. Check back with Soaps In Depth for an exclusive exit interview with Rademacher. And as soon as we gets more details on his final appearance, we'll let you know.

Ingo Rademacher says the new headwriter has asked him to come back to GH in late July. He also says he was asked if he would consider returning as Jax on a more permanent basis. The new spoilers look good. This board has been SO quiet.:surfweb:

Its so sad that they have just let so many characters slide into nothing land...
Did you all see the blog that Tristan Rodgers wrote about GH?

The going of Guza
When I returned to GH after an absence of 14 years one of the first items I was told to establish was a Web site. After I had done this I found myself on line continually monitoring and amusing myself reading the outpouring from fans about “whatever”. Didn’t have this in the eighties and so I was immediately thoughtful about how things might have been if such a thing had existed. I digress.
A subject of intense interest back in 06’ was “General Hospital without Guza”. This had been elevated to “wet dream” status, with the fans referring to it like Guza’s demise would herald ‘The Second Coming”.

Well, he’s gone. So lets see.

Does anyone seriously think that the ABC would eliminate two of it’s soaps and then make a “banzai run” to save the third. If the ABC had been serious at all about saving its shows the move would have started about 6 years ago. There would have been a new VP of Daytime first then a very serious assessment of all its soaps to see what was working and what wasn’t. In the case of GH almost all the writing department along with Guza and Phelps would have gone and a plan implemented that centered around a serious effort to bring up the ratings. This would have had the actors doing lots of personal appearances and a PR effort launched on a grand scale. But that never happened so…….what about Bob?

Many things have been said regarding Bob’s writing some of them fair and some of them less so. Let’s have a look at what will probably be regarded as his legacy. We have a “mob influenced storyline” and the fact that he had little respect for women. And then there’s the systematic dismantling of most of General Hospitals legacy, including that of Luke and Laura, to be replaced by the noble deeds and example set by a bunch of “bargain basement criminals”. I am sure I will get some flack for that statement but the fact remains that whatever thoughts, you the fan harbor in your mind and heart about this relationship the show itself has done everything possible to trash and disassemble it. I don’t think there’s any legacy or standard on GH that has been untouched, in some way, by this wholesale “story slaughter”.

Makes you look back on the eighties and wonder if they ever happened at all. Now the general consensus is that Guza’s to blame for this and no one else. The fact is that Guza was just one of those involved. I mean, come on, does anyone think for one second that Guza could have single-handedly changed the direction of the show without the permission and cooperation of other significant people? As to who the others are I remain “mum”, but think of the endless hours you’ll all have exchanging views on who else could be involved!

The one thing that immediately hit me in 06’ was “the sudden about turns” you found your character doing. I went from “zero to a dead beat dad” in one page. No lead up, no justification and barely an explanation. Just “this is what your are now” and maybe next week something else. I had to admit that I was shocked. My recollections of Guza’s writing was always a positive one. He had been part of some good storylines and had a good feel for comedy. Elements that made you standout as a writer. And yet here we were in a Port Charles that had very little in common with a history, that was rich with interesting and compelling stories and characters. But all storylines aside, the one fault that stood out, brightly, was the utter lack of balance that the show employed. This lack of balance weakened every other story on the show. The mobster storyline could have worked quite well if it included a strong police force. That way the winning side could have see-sawed back and forth. As it was the story and the show was in no way compelling and lacked credibility at most levels. No one was going to believe that a bunch of thugs like these was going to take over the town.

The underlying philosophy of GH had always been one of “hope”. In this General Hospital there was none.

Since 08’ I have been of the opinion that GH was controlled by people way above Frons. Who they are I have no idea but in comparing ABC Daytime of the present and that of the 80’s there’s little comparison. Jackie Smith, VP of Daytime back in the early 80’s was someone clearly in charge. There was never any question of that. In today’s world “whose on first” is hard to discern. As for who is in charge at GH. My recollection was Gloria Monty, and anybody who questioned that didn’t have a job by days end. Certainly the string of Head Writers we had never had the last word on story or anything else for that matter.

I have commented before that the demise of ABC Daytime has been on the table since the eighties. It was never a case of “if” but always “when”. And now it’s happening. What will happen and can it be reversed? IMO not at a Network level. The shows could/might be picked up by someone else and re-engineered. Cost is a major factor to be addressed and so is the overall way the shows are structured and managed. Daytime has been stuck in a time warp since the early eighties and needs to be completely re-invented. It needs to look at how prime soaps have evolved and try to grasp why Reality shows are so strong and learn something from them.

I look back on my time in General Hospital with enormous affection and pride. To be a part of 1981 was an experience I will think about forever because it was so unique. It was unique and exciting for anyone who happened to be in a soap-opera. I just happened to be in the standard bearer, because GH was the undisputed leader and that was never in question. No one out there should be sad because the show/shows have left a trail of wonderful and engaging memories that will be referred to and dwelt upon for a long time to come.

I love Tristan Rogers, but the last few years he has spent every free moment putting down GH. I have hope and optimism that GH will be around for a long time. If ABC were planning to cancel GH, it would have said so when they announced the other cancellations. No reason to wait at all. I would not be so quick to bury this show. Have you been following the spoilers? They look promising. Garin Wolf is going to revitalize GH. Now, take off the cloak of doom and get back to what this thread is all about!:thumbsup2

Being a long time viewer..from 1980, when Luke and Laura were on the run, I have to say that I agree with almost all of what Tristan Rogers has said.
In particular..the whole coffee mobster bs.
The writers have destroyed the so called "anchor families" that were core to GH. They're gone..and you have Sonny the sperminator, and all that goes with him.

I have caught both Tristan Rogers and Genie Francis on Soap Net in The Young and the Restless. I have got to say..I LIKE THEM! I especially enjoy seeing Genie Francis playing someone with a back bone.

I've never seen "The Young and the Restless" but I've been interested in tuning in because I'm a fan of Genie Francis and Trostan Rodgers. However, with the way soaps have been cancelled lately, I'm reluctant to get involved in a new one.

hmmm, maybe I will dvr it today and give it a try!

I have been a fan of ABC soaps for years and will always love GH...I actually like the current storyline of Ethan and Kristina (now that she's old enough), can't wait for Rebecca Herbst to come back in. And its nice to see Alexis back to her crazy neurotic self...I have to say though, as a fan of Vanessa's, I really didn't like this return :(

I started catching The Young and The Restless on Soap Net a couple of years ago. I especially like that it seems to move fairly quickly..especially for a soap. Some of the storylines are "out there". Only I think that's half the fun.

I was thinking about what Tristan Rogers mentioned in regard to the characters and their history. I remember when they brought Rick Webber back. The writers pretty much brought him back as an evil pervert with a history of someone who supposedly killed a woman he was having an affair with in his attic years before. :confused3
I wondered then if whoever was writing that storyline had the slightest clue as to who this character was, and how vital he once was to the central theme of GH. :headache: If you watched the show when he was originally on, you knew there was no way this was possible. They brought him back in name only..as the character was entirely different.

Love that Alexis got some decent screen time... Yay! How old do we think Ethan is????

Lisa and Ol man Zachara... CrAzY!!!! It is odd .. but they could be a funny, evil couple.

Tony Geary's, Luke, will win an Emmy this year. Luke has spun so far into the darkness. The scenes are truly uncomfortable to watch, which I believe hits the mark. Altho I am saddened by the storyline..it is truly the dark side of Lucas Lorenzo Spencer. It is nice to hear him talk of Ruby and Bobbie... where the heck is B-oobie these days?? Have the characters said anything about her whereabouts?

Port Chuck in the summer... there has got to be a tornado, hurricane, fire, plane crash.. in the near future... ;)

I must have missed it - what happened to Rebecca Herbst? I just noticed the other day that she was gone! She's coming back though?

The scenes between Lucky and Luke had me in tears today. I have read the spoilers, and I am saddened to see where it is all headed. I stopped watching GH when they sent Laura away to the hospital, after Luke assumed she killed Rick Weber. They made us believe that she would never recover. I returned to GH when they brought back the original Lucky. I have been watching GH on, and off since day one, and it does annoy me when they write some of their stories. Some of the stuff they want us to believe is really off the wall.

I totally agree...it was always Rick & Leslie, then Rick & Monica and Rick & Allen fighting! They destroyed his character :( oh and btw, Stuart Damon repeated something n twitter from an article Garin Wolf said: "sometimes they come back" That is all he said. I would love to see the Q's get there share of the storyline again as well. Plus since it is called General hospital, it would be nice if it was more about the hospital staff like it used to be...

Does anyone know if CriticalList and GHH are sister sites? They both seem to have the only real spoilers and their styles are kind of alike. They never trash actors.
