The Future of the Disney Institute....

Last year, our family [plus two of our teenager's friends] stayed at the Disney Institute in a 2 bedroom townhouse. It was fabulous...I can't say enough wonderful things about the resort, the staff, the rooms, the pools, the short walk to Downtown Disney, etc. After our trip, I even went so far as to write Disney management and tell them how wonderful the trip was and suggest that they promote the resort to families with teens [I had several ideas...they could establish a teen dance club there that was alcohol free, you would need a resort key to get in, etc.] as it was an excellent choice if you needed more room and privacy.
Well, now I think I read somewhere that Disney is planning on tearing the resort down [gasp!!!] Can anyone tell me more about this???

The Disney Institute is going to be part of the Disney Vacation Club. Some of the townhomes are being torn down and will be rebuilt as villas. Rumors are that some of the treehouse villas may stay. Supposedly it will be open sometime in 2003, but no official word yet.

Our POR boat driver seemed to think it was pretty official. He talked about it on every trip we rode.
He always pointed out the buildings being torn down and the ones staying (not many). (Tree house or Tree Top Villas or something like that. ) I never stayed at any, so none of it meant anything to me.
I think it sounds pretty much like they will be building more high dollar ones across the water from DTD, along with expanding DTD. (More top of the line all the way around, was my impression.)
The CM spat out Eisner's name when he spoke it, so I guessed his opinion on the whole thing.
