the funnest thing u have heard a disney cast member say to a guest?

Another fun one on Jungle Cruise was then they let this little kid drive the boat and after he did, the CM stuck his hand out. The kid gave him a high five, but he still had his hand out. The kid gave an odd look. "$5! What do you think we let you drive the boat for free???"

On the EPCOT meanings, wasn't there one about E Polyster Costumes of Torture? Don't remember what the E stood for.

Yeah those are cute ones,,but THE GUEST reallly wanted to know ,,he was sort of SHOCKED to hear THAT answer!!!!!

Hubby works at Epcot and he said it is:

Extreme Polyster Costumes Of Torture (or Tomorrow)

Another Jungle Cruise comment here!

I was at Disneyland with a college buddy of mine and another couple we had just met. I was out in LA for a wedding, my buddy lived there and the other couple was the Matron of Honor and her DH. We were the only ones without a family relation in the Disneyland trip, so at lunch when the bride, groom and their families were doing the obligatory family photos, my buddy, the other couple and I ditched them and ran around Disneyland like little kids!!

Anyway, after the fireworks for which we had purchased an ungodly number of those glowing necklaces, we ran onto the Jungle Cruise with our necklaces everywhere but around our necks including around our heads. As we are getting on the boat, the CM asked if we were feeling OK. Of course we said we were fine. So he says back, "Great, because you are looking a little light-headed." After that the quips were flying fast and furious between us and the CM.

These are the best. Keeps us going until we leave. Keep them coming.::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Related...longer ago than I care to admit, I was on the college program at WDW and working parking at Epcot. I loved to talk on the trams, using the approved wording, and the less approved messages.

There were many quips we tram folks had for the guests when the supervisors weren't around but the funniest thing I remember was a guest response to something I did.....

It was a crowded day and the lot was packed going in first thing in the morning. To help pass the time while we waited, I would sometimes ask guests to answer Disney trivia. So, I asked my tram of excited Epcot guests when Epcot first opened. I little girl from the middle of the tram, about 6 years old, started waving her hands like crazy. I called on her and she proudly replied in a voice everyone could hear......9 o'clock this morning.

She of course was right and made everyone crack up, as the rest of the guests realized I was looking for October 1971.

On the "Keys to the Kingdom" tour; our tour guide asked each of us who our favorite Disney Character was (sort of like an ice-breaker at the beginning of the tour)....I replied that mine was the little green alien from toy Story (This was before Stitch came into my life, and before Toy Story II) - The tour guide then preceded to tell me that he actually had a name - and did anyone know what it was??? Well, No One on the tour knew of course - and he then told us that it was "Tommy Alien" - I swear - I have called him (them) that ever since - my 4 yo son and the rest of my family now know him by his real name too!! (I honestly thought he was telling me the truth - took me years to figure out he was pulling my leg!):p

Another Jungle Cruise-ism: "We laughed , we cried, we nearly died - Now get off the Boat!"

We went to EPCOT and as usual we were approached by a CM for a memorable photo. After the photo's were taken, she proceded to tell us to pick up the pictures under the "EPCOT BALL" I wanted to correct her so much, but I suppose some people would not know where Spaceship Earth was.

P.S. Thanks for teaching me to spell "EARTH"

Jungle Crise again:

"Thanks for traveling with us! If you enjoyed your cruise, remember my name is Beth. If you didn't, my name is Tina."

Some of the Safari drivers use that line....this is probably true of the Jungle Cruise as well; if you're paying close attention, the second name is always that of the CM standing there on the dock as you disembark the vehicle :p ;)

THis is disturbing, don't they still train the cast members? Don't they still tell them that EPCOT stood for:
Experimental Prototype Community Of Tommorrow?

I think I would have gone over to guest relations and reported the incident. how will Disney ever get back to what it was and should be if such slackness is allowed to go unchallenged?

Right after TOT opened, I decided I didn't want to ride. I went thru the queueing area with DH then I rode the regular elevator down to the waiting area. There was a woman and child and a CM on the elevator with us. He asked the woman if she was doing the Child Swap. When she said yes, he asked her what kind of child she was looking to swap hers for. This was all said in that super-serious tone of voice the cm's use at TOT. I got off the elevator chuckling, and so did she. :D

The very first time we went to Magic Kingdom, approaching the time for the evening fireworks, DH asked a passing CM, (OK, it was a dumb question) "Which direction should we look for the fireworks?" Without missing a beat the CM tilted his head way back and looked at a point in the sky above the castle and said, "Something like this should work for you sir!"

Oh, did we laugh at that one!:rotfl:

When we were at MGM studios last December, as we boarded the tram in the car park, the 'general?' of the Toy Story army was in a tank hollerin' at everyone. His patter had us in stitches - wish I could remember it! But the one line I could remember was in his best general's voice - "Special message for teenagers - all grouches and moaners please report back to the hotel immediately"

Kind of resonated with us - thinking of past Disney vacations!

form spaceship earth, my then 8 year old sister (she's now 25), tripped (it was our first experience with a moving platform ride). The cm noticed the baseball cap she was wearing. It had the budweiser beer horses on it (obviously my dad's, he'd purchased it on a trip to Busch Gardens, Virginia...she was wearing it to keep the sun off her face until we could get her a Mickey hat). Anyway, the cm said, "Isn't it too early to be hitting the bud? Germany isn't even open yet!" It took us a minute to even realize what he was talking about. When we did we all couldn't stop laughing, and ended up laughing through most of the ride. We had to re-ride spaceship earth because we missed most of it, and that was our first time on it!

Back in 89 when my now DW and I went to MK, we and a bunch of other people were looking around rather lost in fantasy land. We all kept wandering over to the spot where the 20K leagues ride used to be and wondering where it had went.

A CM comes by and yells "Its GONE folks. Its been gone a long time. You need to come back more often."

We all felt rather sheepish. Its so hard when childhood memories are replaced by adult reality. As a kid it was such a cool ride. I'm sure as an adult it would have looked a little cheesy, especially compared with the Sea at Epcot.

I think 20,000 Leagues was around until 1994. We rode it after 1989.

A few years ago my dad and I were standing in line for Splash Mountain, behind a little girl (probably about six years old) with her dad. When we got to the loading area, the CM looked at the little girl and said, "Do you want to ride this?" She nodded, and the CM said, "Okay, well, first you have to give your dad a big hug and say, 'Thank you, Daddy, for bringing me to Walt Disney World!!!'" He said this very theatrically, and she repeated him, pitch-perfect. He let them into the log. Then he turned to me (then 28) and my dad. He looked at me and said, "Well?"

The rules certainly are getting strict for ride access these days! ;)
