The Frumps Have Hit the Wall... And No One's Mad. "FART SHOES." UPDATE 1/20

It's Official! you and Kristen inspired me to write a trip report.
Working on it now :goofy:

Hey guys, I can't wait to see what the next part of your frump-tastic adventure is. And I know the mystery behind "fart shoes". Muppet reference FTW! Wocka wocka wocka!

OK, see ya later.

I am subscribing! I'm right in the middle of your arrival, and I love hearing about SSR. I have been there once, but only for a DVC tour, so I didn't really get a big look at the resort. I am from right near the real Saratoga Springs (NY), so it's fun to see the Disneyfied version. The Grandstand pool area looks JUST like current 'toga, well the track anyway.

Also, do you guys mind sharing the seller you bought your pins from on ebay? My daughter is going to be 5 for our next trip and I think she will actually understand pin trading and get into it...also a friend of mine is bringing her 15 year old dd on her first trip (a surprise for her bday!) with us :cool1: and I wanted to buy her a lanyard, autograph book and some pins for her birthday....you guys are closer to her age than I am :old: lol, do you think that would be well received?

Pretty soon, we were seeing THIS!!!!

Let me just say that only a frump would do such a thing to get a pin. And I found that just hilarious! :rotfl2: (P.S. Don't take that as negative. It's actually postive.)

Keep up the frump-tastic work, Jess and Kristen! :wave2:

Haha it's true!
Thank you!

I love your report so far!! :)

I fell in love with those pillows in April, but there was just no room in my luggage (almost 15kg of souvenirs :crazy2: ...my case had it's own souvenir: A "Warning! Heavy!" label that it aquired in the airport!!). I really want the pixie dust one next time we go though, must save room in my luggage.

Aww I'm sorry you couldn't get the pillows! Hahaha ahh too many Disney souvenirs is never a bad thing. I always bring an extra suitcase/bag because I never have room! I hope you get it next time!

In one of your posts you mentioned buying pins on eBay, may I ask who you buy them from? I bought some before we flew over, and they were about 80% fakes. :( I was really disappointed because I couldn't trade them. Maybe no-one would have noticed on the pinboards and such, but I would have felt SO awful about it, I just ended up bringing them all home with me again, and now I use them as push pins on my notice board!

I'd like to get some real ones for trading before we go back again! I bought loads of pins, but I bought them because I liked/wanted to keep them, not trade them!

You know what, I don't know whether the ones we got were real or fakes. I am assuming they're real because they are individually bagged and have the stamp on the back. But I don't really know. I just trade them so it doesn't bother me if they're real or fake. But I usually order from disney.crazy.

By the looks of it, WPE looks amazing! If I go, I'm ordering pizza AND mac and cheese!

That is a VERY good idea! They actually have a kid's portion of the Mac & Cheese if you don't want 2 full entrees!

It's Official! you and Kristen inspired me to write a trip report.

I CAN'T WAIT TO READ IT!!! I didn't even know you were officially on disboards! Yayayay! You belong here, girl :goodvibes

Yay i'm glad you're here and enjoying! That's really cool that you live right near the real Saratoga Springs and that it has some similarities!

I have bought from disney.crazy. All of the pins seemed legit and I was satisfied with the order! That's really awesome - what an AWESOME birthday surprise! And haha for me, personally, I would LOVE that gift! I think she'd really like it! :goodvibes

Update #5: Crystal Palace (Part 1)
May 12th, 2012

We woke up at 6:15 am this morning and I surprisingly didn’t have any trouble getting out of bed. IT WAS OUR FIRST FULL DAY IN DISNEY!!!

I took a shower, got dressed, put on make up, watched Stacey, and caught up on the trip journal.

The Frumps and our queen:

dsc0238yl.jpg

Kristen wanted me to take a picture of her Magic Kingdom Park Map bow! We are HUGE fans of that site magicalribbons.tumblr.com. If you have never seen it, go check it out! It is INCREDIBLE! This girl creates Disney inspired bows and trust me, you’re going to want to buy them all. I know that Kristen and I definitely have an addiction!

dsc0237to.jpg

At 7:30 am we left the room! Here’s a little Saratoga ambiance picture:

dsc0242ur.jpg

We went to the Congress Park bus stop and a very cheerful CM chatted with us about Wishes and our birthday buttons!

dsc0241ex.jpg

dsc0244lb.jpg

The bus came and it was one with the orange seats. It was Katie’s first Disney bus ride EVER! How monumental. The bus smelled SO good and we basically had it all to ourselves! There was only one other family on board.

dsc00605ma.jpg

dsc0245nr.jpg

We arrived at the Magic Kingdom and there was barely anyone there yet! It was only about 8 am so the park was nice and empty!

dsc0247cl.jpg

THE AVENGERAIL!

dsc0246dk.jpg

We had to activate our military tickets, and once that was all situated we entered the magical of all Magic Kingdoms! WELCOME HOME!

dsc0276r.jpg

Look at this deer face. I was SO READY.

dsc00608bf.jpg

We walked down Main Street and took some pictures! This was Katie’s first time ever seeing the Castle! She thought it was very pretty.

dsc00609jx.jpg

But I honestly think I was even more excited… or maybe I’m just a huge frump. Or both!

dsc00611d.jpg

WE’RE BACK ON MAIN STREET USA!

dsc0248zr.jpg

And it was EMPTY!

dsc0249xe.jpg

The Main Street Bakery and the Chapeau were under some serious construction. It’s an eye sore now, but I always remember that Disney is does construction so things look better in the future!

dsc0250d.jpg

Crystal Arts is looking glorious, though! Disney, I love what you’ve done with the place.

Update #5: Crystal Palace (Part 2)
May 12th, 2012

WE’RE GETTING CLOSER….

dsc0265gy.jpg

WE’RE HERE!!!

dsc0266o.jpg

Get used to an overabundance of pictures throughout this trip report… but hey, there can never be too many pictures from Disney, right!?

dsc0267rq.jpg

dsc0271ub.jpg

Once we had our photo shoot we went over to Crystal Palace for our 8:25 am breakfast reservation.

We were seated immediately on the right side of the restaurant. Time to join the celebrashun! (:

dsc0273d.jpg

We put my birthday on this reservation, so our table was covered in Mickey confetti! (Since it was, after all, only 4 days before on May 8th!)

dsc0274ov.jpg

When our waitress was taking our drink orders I spotted a MUPPET VISION 3-D GLASSES PIN! So I was like “I’LL BE RIGHT BACK” and I sprinted out of my chair so I could get the CM’s attention. I made my trade and came back to the table with my little treasure! I was SO happy because I was on the lookout for this pin and I found it the first day!

dsc0275lh.jpg

We were going to go up and get food but then Eeyore was right there! We jumped out of our seats so we could grab photos with him!

dsc0279uz.jpg

We were really frumpy and had a photo system. We would do a group picture, a picture with me and Kristen, a picture with Mike and Katie, and then a picture with Kristen and Mike. FART SHOES. Dave wanted each moment to be captured with the many sub-groups within our travel party. I'll just end up including the ones that turned out best in the trip report, though.

dsc0280vw.jpg

Kristen and I stood watch while everyone else got up to get food. We didn’t want to miss any characters!

dsc0282lt.jpg

dsc0283ab.jpg

Alright guys… here comes the first slew of Crystal Palace buffet pictures. We took pictures of almost every plate… so between the five of us (and Kristen’s artsy photo urges) we have a TON of them! But no one’s mad, right?! I mean… does anyone actually hate looking at food pictures? I’m guessing that's a no.

For the most part, I’m not going to specify which was on each plate. You’re all smart people and I have faith that you will figure it out. Even if you don’t know what something is, you can always admire its beauty. And if you end up being curious, just ask!

Let the food begin! I was not holding back – this was my first day in Disney and I was READY. Food, food, FOOD!

dsc0284yh.jpg

dsc0285zv.jpg

dsc0286fx.jpg

This has to be one of my favorites:

dsc0288re.jpg

The obvious winners for this buffet were the Mickey Waffles and Pooh’s Puffed French Toast. YUM! The Pooh’s Puffed French Toast is literally the reason that Crystal Palace has my favorite breakfast buffet on property. This solitary item has a delicious influence on my life! It’s basically like a fried french toast covered in sugar and it is SCRUMPTIOUS! I wish I could eat it every day. (It’s on the front right)

dsc0292re.jpg

A newfound favorite was actually the “breakfast lasagna” which I had never even noticed before! WOW! It had a bread pudding type of texture. The ingridients included waffle, pudding, strawberries, bananas, etc. It is on the dessert table at this buffet. I’m surprised I never tried it – it was FANTASTIC! (It’s to the left behind the Mickey Waffles)

dsc0291yp.jpg

This photo features all three of the winning items: Mickey waffles in the bottom center, then breakfast lasagna to the left of that, and then Pooh’s Puffed French Toast to the left of that! Don’t go to Crystal Palace breakfast without at least sampling these three items!!

dsc0290c.jpg

Kristen had been looking forward to eating Mickey Waffles more than anything, so we had to photograph her first bite. SO EXCITED!

dsc0293cd.jpg

Piglet stopped and visited next! We paused our intense food consumption to take a picture with our favorite little pig!

dsc0294n.jpg

dsc0295mn.jpg

dsc0296ws.jpg

Sorry about that brief interruption. BACK TO THE FOOD!

Update #5: Crystal Palace (Part 3)
May 12th, 2012

Then to celebrate our birthdays, they brought us out a cupcake! It was so cute, little, and pretty!

dsc0303er.jpg

dsc0301ct.jpg

MAKE A WISH!

dsc0302se.jpg

Alright…. BACK TO THE FOOD. AGAIN!

dsc0300n.jpg

dsc0304vh.jpg

dsc0305on.jpg

dsc0306qa.jpg

Then Tigger bounced on by:

dsc00623v.jpg

dsc0307s.jpg

This is probably one of my top favorite pictures from the entire trip:

dsc0308s.jpg

Then I went over to go take pictures of the Winnie the Pooh topiaries:

dsc0310ou.jpg

dsc0311d.jpg

dsc0312t.jpg

dsc0313ow.jpg

When I went back to my seat, the Friendship Day Celebration parade was going on throughout the restaurant. I clapped my hands while they sing “hip hip hooray!” YAY FOR RELIVING CHILDHOOD MOMENTS!

dsc0314jq.jpg

Such a Disney face:

dsc00625gk.jpg

After sitting for a little while, Pooh Bear finally showed up to our table to take our last Crystal Palace pictures:

dsc0316t.jpg

dsc0317yy.jpg

dsc0315uq.jpg

As you can probably tell, the character interactions were kinda bland this morning. I don’t know what it was. Maybe they were all tired because it was so early in the morning. Nevertheless, I LOVED all of the pictures we took so that totally made up for it!

Overview of Crystal Palace:
Food: REALLY good! It’s my favorite breakfast buffet on property because of the unique items! 5/5
Service: Bland. I don’t even know our waitress’ name because I barely saw her. 3/5
Atmosphere: At 8:25 am it is PERFECT because it’s not crowded at all! (: 4.5/5

We left there and it was time to start taking over the Magic Kingdom! This was only the beginning!

dsc0318a.jpg

dsc0320jg.jpg

We were intrigued by some squirrel on the bridge going from Crystal Palace closer to the castle, so that was frumpy. SQUIRREL, SQUIRREL, SQUIRREL!

dsc0321bo.jpg

We walked through the castle to our first ride of the trip! I wonder where it would be…?

I know that from time to time the dogs would be distracted by squirrels.

I love your shirts guys...they are perfect for your first park day:goodvibes

Crystal Palace is an awesome choice for your first ADR and the food looks soooo good.

And just out of curiosity Jess, do you happen to remember if the breakfast pizza had meat on it? We've only ever gone for dinner and are trying it for breakfast for the first time this trip and it looks really good so just wandering if it's something I could eat or not.

Can't wait to hear where you guys were headed to next

Oh god, you guys in your matching shirts. Too cute. I can't. Did you get them at Target?

Yikes, I am not too thrilled with that Avengers monorail blazing through my precious Magic Kingdom in all its product placement glory. I like super hero movies but it's weird to see Marvel stuff in Disney! I'm not very used to it yet.

That picture you said Kristen is proud of is awesome! That's an angle you don't see much of. Great job Kristen! (Although I know you won't see this for awhile due to you being in Disney ;D)

Ahhh I haven't been to Crystal Palace since I was 14! It's been too long since I had that delicious puffed french toast!

Oh gosssssshusdhfjksdhlskdjhfa I MISS DISNEY SO MUCH RIGHT NOW! I can't believe I don't know when I will be going next. MY HEART ACHES!!! Now I must go catch up on your other TR to help quench my Disney thirst. *Endless sigh*

This report is awesome! I love that even though you're teenagers, you're both so enthusiastic about Disney. I'm a guy and I just turned 20, and most of my friends are indifferent about Disney (although we once had a lengthy debate over whether Ariel or Belle is a better Disney princess - I sided with Ariel :lmao:), so it's cool to see that there are teens who love Disney as much as I do (or possibly more). :thumbsup2

Beautiful pics of everyone and everything (from the food to the merchandise to the villa to the Magical Express bus)! We usually take a taxi instead of DME, and now I feel like I'm missing out on the experience. You both do a great job with storytelling, really capturing some of the most awesome (yet minuscule) details of the trip. It feels like I'm there (which is the best feeling ever).

I can't wait to read more! :goodvibes

Okay, I had absolutely no idea that there was an Avengersrail!! That's awesome!

Isn't Crystal Palace breakfast THE BEST??? I love it, and it's pretty much the number one thing that DF requests we do at Disney now. He's obsessed with the breakfast lasagna and puffed French toast. But aren't we all, really??

I LOVE magicalribbons.tumblr.com! Aghhh actually I love all disney tumblrs (such an amazing tumblr community we are) but the ribbons are especially cool :)

I love your shirts!

I have looked at those bows before and they are so awesome! I want one.

I love how empty Main Street looks. So peaceful.

Your pictures are GORGEOUS!

I haven’t gone to the Crystal Palace for breakfast in like 5 years. I went for lunch last year and it was just alright. I want some Pooh’s Puffed French Toast!

THE FOOD PICTURES. I am in heaven right now.

When I went last year for lunch, the character interactions were pretty bland too. Especially Pooh!

I just wanted to say...I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE reading your trip reports!! You have so inspired me in every single way to start making ones of my trips :D You guys seem to always have the most fantastic, magical trips EVER! And I love how you use the word frump....as that has always been in my vocab (slightlyish different meaning) ;D You girls actually remind me of those Disney girl books I used to read.. (the name escapes me as of now...but you've prob heard of them)
Love how you got to stay in the Saratoga Springs resort too! I actually live right next to the real Saratoga Springs...and have actually walked in the real Congress Park :P
Thanks for sharing all your awesome tips, and being an inspiration! I love being able to laugh and relate at your stories :)
xx

The pink minnie shirts ARE really cute!
It really makes my day when there are frumpy/(bathrobe) princess updates!
Whenever there is a frumpy/deerface/princess/buttercup/food picture trip report, no one is ever mad!
Thanks again for being such great trip report writers.

dsc0302se.jpg

OMG IT'S KYLE!!!! He was our waiter in December and we loved him. :thumbsup2 (Sorry about this... let's go back to the beginning now.)

I love yall's pink Minnie shirts! Precious. KATIE'S FIRST TIME SEEING THE CASTLE!!!! Did she jump up and down and cry and like do a little dance? I feel like that's the normal reaction to the castle on every trip... just me?

Crystal Palace is perfect. THE PUFFED is the best food. I don't know what kind of GENIUS invented that stuff but I'd like to shake his/her hand. I didn't know of the existence of the breakfast lasagna either! Must try. :thumbsup2

Hi Jess. Thanks for keeping the ball rolling while Kristen is in Disney :) I love that bow, I have to check out the tumbler website asap. The Crystal Palace looks amazing and I actually just booked a pre- RD breakfast ADR for my last day in January after reading your update :cool1:. You are such an inspiration!!! I couldn't tell that the character interactions were bland...it looked like you guys were having fun anyway. But OMG the breakfast looked so decadent and delicious I am officially hungry now! Have a great day, until next time. :cutie: -Amanda
