The Frickles Family Vacation: Every Mile a Memory; THE LAST MILE! CH 12 pg 20 6/20!

Just found your report and caught up today. Looking forward to more!!!

Oh and...

!!!!!!!!!

Just for all of the ones you didn't get to use in your last Chapter.

A friend and I are planning on buying our MNSSHP tix in advance and the control freak that lives in the back of my mind is a little worried about just this type of turn of events. Perhaps I'll write a trippie and let you all know how it works out.

Frick girlfriend......

You need a few of these !!!!!!!

And a couple of these %^#^&*#^(

At least the camcorder and camera just got wet. When I was reading I thought it might have up and disappeared!!!!!

I would have let Mr. Frick head off to the Poly bar too, but I know what you mean about pushing your luck.

And ack! I just purchased P&PP tickets for April. Without a weather report. Now I'm scared.

I'll take your adventure as a lesson and leave the backpack/fannypack ;) at home and bring the ponchos!!!!!!!

Thanks for another wonderful chapter!!!!!

We finished off our journey a little less joyfully and a little more painfully.

Leave it to my girl Frick to weave some Rob Base into the story. You know I'm gonna be singing that for the rest of the day, right?

Frick, I'm so sorry to hear your MNSSHP night was a washout. That stinks. No two ways about it. FWIW, I probably would've been the same way. There's something about paying extra that makes you bound and determined to get your money's worth. Even if your shoes are squeaking and everyone's ready to go home. I really hope your electronics eventually dried out, like Ash said. I would've had a cow.

Your installment may not have been chipper and bubbly but as I was reading it, I really felt like I was walking around dodging lightning and seeking shelter along with the masses with you. We've done that so many times before and it brought all that back to me so clearly that I could actually feel the stress over dodging around from cover to cover in the lightning and rain. And being cold in the air conditioned attractions. Which is not the best day at Disneyworld, admittedly. Not by a long shot. But it's real. And I'd rather read real any day of the week than..well, not real.

NOPamelaAnderson.

I hope the next day made up for your lack of fun on that night, chick.

We made it to Philharmagic without being struck down by lightening and joined the masses inside.

I take it you've recently enrolled in ZZUB's Spellin' School. While you're there, how 'bout you go ahead and sign up for some Math Learnin' too?

:teacher:

Sorry. I couldn't resist.

Keep it comin' sweet Frick.

:moped:

Oh smokes, the spelling police is here!

What does it mean to bring weave? Is that something y'all do in the Mississip? I've thought of you a lot this week La because my boys have been spelling Mississippi all..... week...... long.

I'm seriously ded over the shoes squeaking! I can honestly hear them right now. You would have stayed too wouldn't you La? Of course we made up for our lack of fun the next day! We were heading to ride the Maelstrom!!!! It's a Fastpass you know.

Yak you know exactly what I'm talkin 'bout don't you. ;) Don't worry about your P&P party! It isn't going to rain and you'll have a great time! If it does rain heavily though, I do suggest sending Mr. Yak to the bar at the Poly.

This cracked me up! Thanks girl! I needed those!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let me know how that party works out for ya! I think as long as you can go into it knowing that you could have possibly paid a lot for a whole lotta nothing, you are good to go! My friend NM has taught me to look on the bright side, so thanks to her I can say a rainy night at Disney is better than nothing. Well at least I think that is what she would say.

Great TR! Just had to jump on board, theres a slight possibility ill be heading to the beach club!
DO IT! We L-O-V-E-D the Beach Club!!! We loved it so much it was hard to leave it to go to our ADR's!

I understand. Really, I do. I bought MVMCP tix early enough to get an AP discount in 2006. I spent the ensuing weeks stressing over what might happen the night of the party. So when the Pirate & Princess shin-dig came along, I bought no advance tickets. Wound up buying them at EP a mere 45 minutes before the party.

After having the Guest Relations guy check the weather on his computer.

So, you know, you're not alone.

Well after hearing this there is a chance my family might attend another special event at the World. That is one smart way to do it my friend. Thanks for sharing that!

So - most important question - did you ever make it to the Poly bar or where you too wet and miserable to bother???
I've kinda done Disney in the rain with you my dear and I soooo know you would have stuck around to get some of your money's worth!!! We're borg on that one. Nope, we didn't make it to the Poly. A pineapple would have been nice, but the boys were wiped out and we were ready to get out of our wet clothes!!!!!

CRSNDSNY!!! Nice emoticon useage! That is exactly how I felt!!!!

This is exactly the way I feel after being drenched to the core during the Princess and Pirate Party on March 6th. There were a few good times but given what I paid for my family to attend this party...I was determined to stay for the parade and fireworks ....my family is still giving me a hard time how I made them stay.

I'm so sorry you had to feel my pain! But, I'm glad to know there are others out there like me. I can hear us all now "No kids, that tornado is so going to turn and go the other direction. Let's just hold onto this tree while we watch the fireworks." I think I'm warped. :upsidedow

Hello! Just found this report today - lovin' it!:thumbsup2

I think we were at the same MNSSHP. We were there Sept. 14th. It was HORRIBLE!!! We ended up seeing EVERY character in the tent's in toon town. That happened to be where we were at the time of the downpour. The lights actually went out for a couple of seconds. Gotta love hearing a que full of kids screaming! The only bonus was we got to see Mickey and Minnie together. That was really cool. We did watch Hallowishes in the rain and we saw the parade. Everything ran late and we were very wet. We didn't get very much candy at all.

On the way out we got a certificate for free admission to Magic Kingdom - good for a year. I stuck it in my scrapbook.

Anyway...I'm really enjoying your trip report. Can't wait till the next installment!!

KIMBA!!! That was the same exact night we were there. WHERE IS MY FREE ADMISSION TO THE MK?!?!?!
Seriously, how did you get one and I didn't? Did you have to ask.

I feel sick.

Girl, I am so sorry about your night. I would have done the exact same thing, and Mr. NM would have been protesting the whole time. And he's fully Disneyfied.

But friend, you are absolutely right! A rainy night in Disney is better than helping with homework and getting in bed early cause it's a school night!

I can't believe Kimbac3 is taunting you with the free admission certificate! Tell her if all she's gonna do is put it in her scrapbook, she can send it your way. Or mine. :thumbsup2

Of everything I just read, this really did make me laugh the hardest. Girl, you ain't right.

Great installment - even if it wasn't a great memory.

Thanks for sharing it with us!

I kept hearing some strange woman screaming "CAN YOU BELIEVE WE MISSED OUT ON FREE PASSES TO THE MAGIC KINGDOM?!!!"

And then "WHY ARE YOU NAUSEOUS? IT'S PORK TENDERLOIN!!!"

All the way from Georgia.

DED! For the record, I have no earthly idea what bring weave means. Which can mean one thing and one thing only. I must've picked the saying up from NM. That's sweet that your boys are spelling out Mississippi. But do they bring weave the crooked letter crooked letter i, hump back hump back i? If not, you should take them out of their current school and find one that'll teach them the redneck ways of spellin'.

I'm seriously ded over the shoes squeaking! I can honestly hear them right now. You would have stayed too wouldn't you La?

You better believe I would've stayed. All common sense goes out the window the minute we pass underneath those arches.

:moped:

Sorry! Didn't mean to give you nightmares :scared1:

As we were leaving the park, just past the Railroad station tunnel thing, there were cast members handing them out. One per family. We stayed till midnight though - I don't know if they were there all night. Alot of people got them...there was a thread about this a few weeks ago.

Some people (who didn't get the pass that night) were calling Disney and asking about it. I believe they were told to send in their party tickets and they'd exchange them. It's worth a phone call. My certificate expires a year from the party date and I won't be back until after my year is up, however other people have had success in getting that deadline extended. I guess I'll take my own advice and call too!!

Kimba

OMG what a horrific evening, we were in MK when a huge storm hit and it was a P&PP night, we had been a few days earlier and I was so upset for the people going that night!

Give WDW a call, it's worth a try :thumbsup2

:rotfl:

Seriously, I think you have convinced me not to buy the tickets ahead of time EVER again!

The price of our four MNSSHP tickets is what drove me to force my family to stay. If we had just been there on a regular park day, where the price of my ticket is lumped into this big package deal where I truly don’t know what I’m paying to be there, then I would have started running for the exit way before the storm got bad. The stress of wanting to get my monies worth because it was a special event is what kept me there…with the hopes that it would clear up and we would get to move on. The stress of wanting my kids to get to enjoy the party and trick or treat and at least leave with some candy is what kept me there. It just wasn’t a very fun night. If I had thrown in the towel and left for the Poly when our friends did, I’m sure we would have had a lovely evening. I just couldn’t leave knowing that we paid almost $200 to be there and we only rode two rides and didn’t get to trick or treat. By gollies that just wasn’t sitting well with me. Mr Frick wasn’t stressed at all about staying. He didn’t care if we didn’t get any bang for our buck, but something about me did.

Sure we left with a couple of good memories, but we also left with wet clothes, one ruined camcorder, one ruined brand new camera, a soaking wet backpack, wet feet and a dampened spirit. It rained on our parade, and I didn’t like it.

Don’t get me wrong, the Halloween party is WONDERFUL but after this night, I just don’t think special events at Disney are for me, I’m too anal.

If we were to ever go again, I wouldn’t buy the tickets until the day of, after checking the weather channel multiple times.

I did the same thing in 2006. Bad thing is I did it TWICE! I bought party tickets for 2 nights as soon as they went on sale that previous May. The first night it was so cold and the shoes I wore as part of my costume were killing my feet so I bought $17 PoC flip-flops that I thought would be more comfortable. Uh, no. So I left the party with a bruised big toenail.

Then I we had to go back to the party again later in the week. There was no way I was not gonna go after paying all that money. The second party was just as cold and painful as the first!

[BTW - Love your TR!]

Poor Frick!!!

Last time....the tales of Manny!

This time....no MK certificate!!

:sad1:

Aw Frickles, I'm sending lots of sympathy your way. That's the worst! Reading your post convinced me that I didn't need to buy tickets for MVMCP in advance when we are there in December. You are spreading your Disney wisdom near and far!

Hope the next installment is a happier one. ;)

Frickymyfriend, I cannot believe what a horrible night that was for you. :headache:

So, they gave out MK passes as a reward to the people who stayed till midnight? Was that the deal Kimbac?

I think you are right girl -- don't buy the tix ahead of time. I would think unless you wanted to go ON Halloween, you'd be pretty sure of getting tix at the gate that day.

I gotta tell you our Epcot on New Year's Eve story -- we were there during the day, NYE 199- um, 8? I think? 7 maybe? Doesn't matter. Anyway, we realized that there was going to be all kinds of fun stuff happening that night for NYE, so when our extra-Grand Gathering was ready to head out, my sister, aunt and I decided we would plan on going back. No soup! We tried heading back to the park around 6, and they turned us away.

I know y'all are shaking your heads and saying "DUH!" right about now, but this was pre-Disboards for me, so we really didn't realize.

My stepmom's father called the next day to rail about how we'd been there, had the hand stamp/ticket/whatever, proof we were there already and they should have let us back in. They sent him a free day ticket for everyone in our group -- 15 people -- even though only 3 of us tried to go back. Funny thing is, HE kept the tix and we never saw them again. :confused3

Gosh I am behind in replying to my sweet readers who have left comments for me! Sorry guys! Much love to you all and thanks for being here!!!! My lil Stitch has had the flu, a birthday and we've had a week long visit with JoMomma.....I'm seriously behind on housekeeping over here at my tr!!! A new chapter is UP though!!!! Ly/Mi!!!

We woke up to face our last FULL day at Disney with Epcot on the mind. We didn’t feel majorly skippy because we were so tired from the rainy and cold MNSSHP that we had endured the night before. We grabbed a granola bar from our stash for breakfast and I began the task of unpacking the soaked backpack. Our cameras were fried. FRIED I tell ya. Mr. Frick decided that they just might need a good drying out so we took the digital camera apart and hung the pieces out to dry.

We headed out for the gorgeous walk to the International Gateway. Ugh, I started getting sad as we greeted our last full day. I decided not to let that get me down though and I focused on being grateful for even getting to be there. So what if we were leaving the next day, at least I wasn’t sitting at home reliving a Disney day through someone’s trip report!

Our boys love, love, love Innoventions West. Or is it East? For the life of me I can’t remember but we like the side that has the robots that you can build and race. That is like the ultimate in fun for them. Mr. Frick digs it too, so I let them head for the robot races and I went to get FastPasses for Test Track and then I headed to Mouse Gear to see what needed to go home with me.

I enjoy shopping at Mouse Gear. I seriously enjoy shopping at MouseGear without my children and without my husband. I knew the robots would take a while, so I leisurely strolled around and oooohed and aaaahed over all the cute things. For some reason, I was strangely attracted to the key chains. Last year it was cereal bowls, this year it was the key chains. I had already purchased a cute little pink mickey head key chain for myself and I was itching to get something else.

As I stood mesmerized at the gazillion dangly things I could hook to my keys, this sweet little old lady in a wheelchair beside me struck up a conversation. She did all the talking. I did all the listening. I would have spoken more than I did, but I couldn’t get a word in. Anyhow, after hearing about her son’s family that she was there with, her other grandchildren and her last hip replacement - I had decided on buying Mr. Frick a cool key chain. Yeah, that’s the ticket. I would buy him a key chain and he would love looking at it every day as he went to his car and he would think “Oh this key chain brings back so many fond memories of Disney that I want to go again!” See how smart I am?

I paid for the key chain and headed out to find my guys. They had just finished their race and were building their robots. I called Mr. Frick over and told him that I had a little present for him. I pulled the key chain out of the bag for him to feast his eyes upon. You would have thought I had just given him a ticket to Disney on Ice, or a gift certificate to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique or a UGA t-shirt. He did the nervous laugh/talk/whiny thing he does where he said “Baby, I’ve already got a key chain”. I stood there and thought about how that gift really was SO wrong for him. Seriously wrong. I could see him in the locker room with ’the guys’ and them making fun of him for having a key chain with Mickey Mouse on it. I told him it was for our Jeep. Yeah, it was for the Jeep. We had just gotten an old Jeep to run around in and the key chain could be fun for the Jeep, because the Jeep is fun! He agreed he could handle that cute blue Mickey Mouse head hanging from his Jeep keys, so all was good. Phew.

After a long stay at Innoventions East/West, we decided to dine somewhere in the World Showcase. The boys really wanted Chinese again and I wanted something a little lighter. It was time for a counter service meal, so I told Mr. Frick to take the boys to the CS area in China and that I would meet them there. I headed for Norway and stopped in their cute little counter service area that I can’t think of the name of and am too lazy to look up. I grabbed a turkey sandwich, fruit (I think?) and some SCHOOL BREAD!

I took my tray over to China to find my guys and they were no where to be found. Are you kidding me? Mr. Frick is directionally challenged. This was made obvious to me when we were heading for a golf resort in South Carolina and he zigged when he should have zagged and he didn’t realize it until an hour and a half later when we were crossing the border into North Carolina. So why did I think now that he could find the counter service in China?

As I strolled around carrying a big ole tray of food and a piece of school bread the size of a wheel of brie, I heard a tapping noise. Yes, it was my son sitting in Nine Dragons. They waved to me to come on in. Right. I don’t really think they are going to be cool with me walking into their restaurant with a tray of food from another country. And… AND… They were about to use up another table service credit! ACK!!!! I motioned Mr. Frick with my head to get on over to the front entrance so we could discuss this. As I had assumed, he couldn’t find the counter service area. He said they had not ordered yet and would come on out. Ta dah! It was right around the corner. Mr. Frick also suffers from a well known man disease of being unable to ask anyone for directions.

We had a nice lunch and I fell in love with school bread! I mean it is out of this world! I highly recommend it.

When we had finished our meals, we decided to stroll around China and do a little looking. The boys had some money and they were itching to spend it. I’m not going to go into great detail, but there was an incident in China that made Mr. Frick mad at me, which in turn made me mad at him. Now we never, ever, ever fight….so that is why this sticks out in my mind. We have a really peaceful marriage and fighting just isn’t in our nature. Now don’t read me wrong, we aren’t perfect and there are some spats here and there, but they are few and far between.

This little ‘spat’ was one of those that made me outrageously mad. I wanted to hide my feelings from the boys, so I clammed up and wouldn’t speak to my dear husband. The boys wanted to ride Maelstrom. How ironic. We waited in the short line instead of grabbing a FastPass, heh heh, and when we boarded our boat I ended up sitting by Mr. Frick with a boy on each end. As we began our journey, I decided it was a fine time to quietly finish our little discussion about the incident in China, and there was a Maelstrom on the Maelstrom. Sometimes Disney just doesn’t bring out the very best in people.

We exited our boat ride that I didn’t enjoy and we stood in Norway with me giving Mr. Frick the cold shoulder. I was done. I gave up all touring plan power because I was one scorned woman. When Mr. Frick asked me what next, I shrugged my shoulders and said you decide….with my eyes.

Mr. Frick took us back to Test Track. It was down. He took us back to China. He wanted to see the acrobats, which started in 45 minutes. So he decided we should sit and wait for them to come out. We did. I made a few phone calls to check on things back home and the boys chased a bird and had a blast doing so. Mr. Frick kept his distance from me. When the show started, we ended with the best seats we had ever had. We are the family that is usually way in the back, behind a tree, holding our kids on our shoulders so they can see. This time, we were front and center. Those acrobats absolutely amaze me.

When the last Chinese split had been done, we gathered together and I pulled Mr. Frick to the side and told him I was tired of being mad at him. I also seriously expressed my feelings of really wanting to pick him up and chunk him into the World Showcase lagoon. This caused us to bust out laughing and as quickly as it had started, it had ended. We were back in the land of marital bliss. We had a looong discussion as we tooled around the rest of the countries. He told me of his great need not to come to Disney again next year. He wanted a break and he wants to go somewhere different and see other parts of our world. I told him that I understood and that if he made us skip next year, he would have to promise to give us a longer time there - like 8 to 10 days the next time we came. He said it was a deal and he was cool with that. I knew it is what had to be done, so instead of seeing replicas of these beautiful countries, maybe we’ll actually get to visit them.

The time had come for our daily rest and swim at our favorite pool ever so we headed back to the Beach Club. The boys and I decided to treat ourselves to some ice-cream, so we took off to Beaches and Cream. Mr. Frick wasn’t feeling like he needed a massive mound of milk and sugar, so he went up to the room to grab our pool gear and swim suits. Before he left, I told him that since it was Saturday, he should go and park it at ESPN for a while when he got back and watch some college football. He agreed that is what he should do. The boys and I bellied up to the Sundae bar and ordered. I don’t remember what we had, but I do know it was fabulous and worth every calorie! Mr. Frick came back with our stuff and took the boys into the men’s locker room to change them into their swimming trunks. I headed for the ladies locker room, which was very nice, and changed. We met back at the pool and I made friends with a lounge chair, the boys ran off to build a sand castle and Mr. Frick headed off towards ESPN. I do believe he was skipping!!!

:flower3: I'm so glad you two made up so quickly!

Thanks for another installation of your report....LOVED IT!!! popcorn::
