We got back from FW a weekago and cant stop talking about our trip. I loved it. It was one of the greatest vacations we had. I did have a golf cart incident. We just picked it up and was going to explore the grounds. My hubby is driving by the Meadows pool and a kid is almost hopping on the back of the cart while driving. I had my kids 4 and 7 on the back and they were scared. My hubby stopped and I turned and said to the kid" Do you see my kids sitting here, You need to stop or you might get hurt." Can I ask where are parents these days? Then we were at the Meadow Trading Post and we saw an armidillo. Great standing there and enjoying the wildlife. Another kid comes up and starts hitting the armidillo. I had to say something and said "What is wrong with you and to stop" Again no parents. An older man was standing there and said the same thing to him after he didnt stop when I said something. We just shook our heads. Maybe I shouldnt have said anything but it just burned me that no parents are watching. Other then those 2 incidents it was soo soo nice.

We went to the HDDR and it was great. Some say corny and hokey but they had my family and I laughing all night! My kids loved it. We had great seats right in the middle 2 row. The food was good. My family also loved Trails End. Yes its not gourmet but its good cookin for us! We went twice for dinner and twice for Breakfast.

The site we had was 1610. Very hard to back into. I thought we were going to take out the trash can with our truck. But my very talented hubby tried and tried and finally manuvered it into the space. All the spaces in the 1600 loop were filled.

We had really good timing on all rides. The longest line we stood in was 45 minutes for Peter Pan and then 45 minutes to see the princesses in toontown. We did mostly all we wanted with the exception of Space mountain.

The verdict is we are addicted to the Fort. It is a great family place and gave us so many wonderful memories. I do have to say being my first time to Disney we came over on the boat that first morning to Magic Kingdom and just caught Mickey on the train. I cried. It is magical there. I guess that is corny and hokey but I guess that is me!

I remember driving on property my first time ever with my wife in 1983 and starting to cry as we drove under the WDW sign - a lifelong dream finally fulfilled. I was so excited the first time at MK that I shot off a whole roll of film with the lens cap on my 35mm rangefinder camera.

Glad you had a great first time FW experience. Thank you for trying to protect the wildlife. I'm afraid they are so used to not being molested by most of us that they don't expect to be abused by unsupervised guests, not that the parents would have said anything had they been there.

The 1600 loop is our favorite, and I think I have had that site and had some difficulty backing in, too. Most sites aren't that way, however.

Welcome back..I'm glad you enjoyed your trip.:thumbsup2 Reading your review made me feel as if I were there. Thanks.

That is what my hubby said "Oh your lifelong dream fulfilled". I took lots of pics of everything also. I just wanted to capture so much.

The site was good but just hard to get into. We have a Chevy 1 ton dually and the 26ft TT. Very hard.

Yeah the whole animal thing is upsetting to me. Its like hey we are invading there space so just let them be. And your right probably the parents wouldnt have said anything anyway. I have kids and they wouldnt have dreamed of doing anything like that!

Wow, sounds like a great time! i love hearing from people about their first trip.
You were WAY TOO KIND to the kid hitting the armadillo. i would have physically taken his hand and made him stop. i know that isn't right either, but i will not tolerate anyone hurting an animal. i also would have taken his picture and threatened him with that. I had an incident the other day in a shopping center, in the hot blazing sun, someone left a dog in the car with barely any windows open. the dog was little and couldn't reach the windows and was panting very hard. i found out who's car it was, happened to be in the first store i tried. I stood there with my cell phone until he left, i told him i'd have to call the authorities if he didn't get in his car immediately and rescue that poor dog. He did, he left. He didn't say a word, he knew he was wrong. some people are such inconsiderate idiots when it comes to animals.
So glad you had a good time. I'm a little worried about us backing in to our site in 300 loop. i will have my laptop and will try to report back with a report.

Glad you had a nice trip. Fort Wilderness is awesome. I am glad you said something to that kid.
I agree with Donna in that you were much kinder than I would have been. I can't keep my cool when anyone is tormenting or abusing wildlife or any animal for that matter.
I don't understand what is wrong with people these days. :confused3 Why in the world would you try and hurt an animal.
And leaving them in a hot car. Makes my blood boil.

Good for you Donna and everyone else for standing up for the animals. I wish there were more people like us who aren't afraid to speak up.

Well, it was an armadillo, after all. MIL probably would have been chasing it with a broom.

Glad you had a great trip!

they are filthy animals..... I hope the kid didn't get leprosy

I thought you were talking about the Auburn Tigers or War Eagles. Whatever they are to themselves lol.

Hmm, you obviously don't know a mascot from a battle cry...do I need to PM you and give you a lesson? We are the TIGERS! War Eagle is the same as Roll Tide, or Go Gators, or Go Noles, or whatever you choose! I am not sure of your affiliation. Are you a slimy reptile or something else. I just hope you are not an elephant!;)

 Just because you don't care for armadillos doesn't mean that hurting them is ok. They are living creatures too!

We named the one on our site "Snuffalupagus" and had a lovely time watching him! Fortunately for Snuffy, it didn't make any ill-timed road crossings while we were there. And those poor things must be virtually blind. It never reacted when we shown a really bright flashlight on it! We never saw him again after Tropical Storm Barry came thru, and I hoped nothing happened to him.

...who'd never seen one up close before that was still moving...

they carry leprosy....... the armadillo, not the Auburn Tiger.....

too many of them get hurt on the interstate!!! :sad1:

That is too bad. I hate to see anything hit along the road. Wish there was a way to keep them off.
Poor things must be like opposums here. They are hit a lot. Along with racoons.

I haven't seen one up close either that was still moving. Maybe next trip. Poor things.

I felt bad for the little guy. I know its just an armidillo but he wasnt hurting anyone and that little boy just started hitting him.

Also wanted to say that the boat ride to Magic Kingdom was so nice. Relaxing after being at the park. We took the truck over to the other parks. Im not a bus person and my youngest tends to get car sick. So I didnt risk it.

I also wanted to say that we met some of the nicest people at the fort. My daughters name is Summer. Which is unusual and we met 2 while we were there.

I cant wait to book our next trip. Just saving up the funds again. My 7 year old and I are doing a scrapbook. As soon as I get all the pics printed out. Which is mostly me and her since my 4 year old didnt want to get her pic with any of them except - Minnie, Pooh, CINDERELLA, and Belle. She made Mickey at the Judges tent turn around until she walked by. We were laughing so hard. She was totally into Minnie - not MICKEY!

The only thing I have to complain about is YOU HAVE TO HAVE ADVANCE RESERVATIONS. Or you dont eat. I tried gettting AR down there and the first time would be at 10:00pm. Oh well live and learn. We didnt have trouble getting in at Trails End. The Boy Scouts were even there and we only waited 30 minutes. Maybe that is why it was our favorite.

Thanks for all the great feedback!
